This dehumidifier is humming along brilliantly! It took me a couple of days to figure out how to get the external hose connected properly but now, it’s working great.

As I previously owned a GE dehumidifier that lasted forever, this was a no brainer. Simpler to use, quiet and tasty to use out of the box. It's smart sensor feature is great when you run a hose into a sink/ drain and can leave it on and it automatically shuts off when desired level is reached

My unit was around 10 months old when I started to notice rust in the water bucket. I didn't think much of it, but a few weeks later I noticed small rust particles that looked like paint chips on the top of the unit and on the ground around it. Something is clearly rusting inside the unit and the exhaust fan is blowing rust around the room. On the same day I noticed the rust everywhere, I also noticed that the cooling fins on the back of the unit were frozen over (pictured). Thankfully the unit is still under warranty, but even so, GE's replacement process is a pain. They send you a Good Will Certificate when you file a warranty claim. You have to go out and buy a new unit with your own money, then mail a copy of the receipt in with the Good Will Certificate and it takes 6-8 weeks to process and receive a check in the mail. They don't refund the tax amount you paid on the original purchase, so you effectively have to pay that twice. I bought an Insignia dehumidifier at the same time I bought the GE unit and that one is still running without any issues.

    Uses too much power!!!

It does what it’s supposed to. The size was perfect for the laundry room. In Florida, it can get humid inside the house and anything we hang dry can get mildewy smell if moisture isn’t controlled. I saw that the power bill went up a lot recently. So I bought smart power readers for the three dehumidifiers we have in the house. Two big and one small. I was VERY surprised at how much power this thing uses! I have two bigger F-brand dehumidifiers that use about 60-70 watts when in use. On average this thing uses about 5.8 kWh on a typical day. When I removed this dehumidifier from service and plugged in the bigger one in the same location, it used average of 0.55 kWh in a day. That’s 10% of what this thing uses! Ridiculous! Instantaneous reading was between 370-500+ Watts which is terrible efficiency! This thing should come with a big yellow energy use guide tag!

10 times Louder- Proven than Advertised- Noisy son of a bun. Very disappointed. After two days of running this very noisy machine mostly on low sometimes turning it off because of the noise pollution I tested it with a decibel meter, And verified that I indeed it did look up the rating to be advertised at lower than at 50db as the max noise level per specifications. Functions ok- thus the 2 stars. Now I have to take it back snd find one that is “as advertised” On low at 60% moisture 57db. Almost 61db on high at 60% moisture. More crazy noisy when set for lower moisture!!!! See pics for db info. Best Buy & GE get your info straight this is not a max 50db unit as your specifications say here.

I live in a bottom floor apartment, about 850 Sqft. A lot of my things started getting covered with mold and I ended up breaking down to buy this dehumidifier. BEST. DEHUMIDIFIER. EVER. !! I know it’s $200, but it is SOOO worth it. With in the first HOUR it collected so much water I was blown away. It tells you the humidity level where it’s sitting (mine was 70% yesterday) and it’s down to 30% now in less than a day. I also like that it was super straight forward to use. You literally just plug it up and it’s ready to go. The only thing I was confused about is how the little wheels for the bottom of it were put it inside of the water catcher. So when I went to empty it, I didn’t notice the wheels till later. Other than that, 10/10 recommend. You will not regret it and it’s worth every penny. The air feels so different in here now and I’m glad I got this.

First of all, this system is so easy to use I never even opened the instructions. Plug it in, check the tub, wait for the fill light, and dump. I live right in front of a pond and it was 90% humidity!!! This machine is a life saver. 10 minutes is all it took for it to take it from 70% humidity in my house to 50%!!! The accuracy of this machine is outstanding as well. I tested it with a reptile humidity gage. This machine is great for a big apartment with open space, or a smaller house. My fiancé and I have bad asthma and if we didn’t have this machine we’d be coughing flem up and drowning with how bad it’s been. Spend the money, get the machine. WORTH EVERY PENNY!!!!

Got it on sale for under $100 and it does exactly what it says it does. Fairly sturdy, no major issues so far. Setting it to a humidity is easy, and it runs until it hits the goal humidity level. Has pulled close to a gallon of water out of the air in the time I have had it in my relatively dry travel trailer. It will chime when it's full, and I haven't had to change the air filter yet, but I have a dedicated air filter running nearby. Only negative is that I haven't discovered if there is a way to turn off the lights without shutting down the machine.

    Bonus Room Dehumidifier

Ive been using it for about a week. The controls are easy to set and understand and there was nothing to put together outside of snapping the wheels onto the bottom of the unit. It brought the humidity of an approximately 300 square-foot bonus room from 70% to 45% (that's where I set the room humidity to). I empty the bucket once a day, but could probably go longer between empties. Makes a little noise, but I don't spend a ton of time in the room so it's not bothersome.

Makes a humid home more livable

I moved from a dry, high-desert climate to a city with very humid summers. The humidity in my home seemed intolerable, so I purchased this humidifier. It's very effective. I installed it in the open plan main floor of my home, and set the desired humidity to 45%. The initial humidity level in this area was over 60%; in less than an hour it was 55% and falling, and the whole floor felt much more comfortable. Overnight, humidity was down to 45%, and this unobtrusive device has maintained that since. (I have a hygrometer at the other end of the main floor and the humidity readings match those on the dehumidifier.) Fan noise is audible but not annoyingly loud. I'm using the bucket rather than the hose--easy to empty, and I like having the water for my plants.

Works as advertised. I put mine in my basement to replaced a failed unit from another manufacturer and this produces a bucket of water every day or two. My only regret is that I wish I had a larger capacity due to how much water it pulls and how often I have to empty it. If you aren't concerned with that aspect then this should work well for you. You can definitely hear it running so if it is something for an area of your house where you spend a lot of time you may want to look for something advertised as more quiet.

Effective but heats up small spaces

This dehumidifier works very well - I have stopped reviewing items until a few months of ownership since BB does not allow review editing (which is a retail-industry standard thing...) for some strange reason, but its been durable for the past few months and hopefully it'll hold up over at least a few years. Its very inefficient for smaller spaces though. It draws about 400-500 watts fluctuating based on fan speed, indicating that the compressor has a single stage 'wide open' setting. It outputs a significant amount of heat (not surprising considering the power draw). It does, however, suck a HUGE amount of humidity from the air. This is probably better for a large space - a lot larger than my 12 by 12 office space for example. If you buy this for a smaller space, it'll drive up the heat and cycle on and off frequently causing extra wear - but if you DO end up using this in a smaller space, run the fan on high. The power draw penalty is negligible and it'll circulate more air through it, remove more humidity, and turn off sooner. And its effective enough that this extra airflow wont result in a decrease in de-humidification performance. For a medium to larger space, this is a great choice imo, and has been effective for these south MS summers we have to endure where the air feels like soup, but smaller spaces could use something smaller or more efficient and I would imagine that this would even be more important for people who do not live in climates where the humidity is sky high.

Really works well. Not too loud. I can't beleive how much moisture its been removing! Made well. I leave mine on low all day and it fills up the tank once a day. Could never get below 53% Humidity with my AC on before I purchased this. Now it maintains 38-40% all day. It will take a couple weeks to get it down. Worth it!

This summer was insanely humid in central Texas and we were constantly complaining about being uncomfortable in the house with our Nest thermostat showing 70% or more humidity inside on some days. We actually could have probably used a bigger dehumidifier because this one filled up 2-3 times a day during the summer, but you definitely know it works when you're having to pour it out over and over.

It is a good size for for a 1000 sq. ft. apartment. It runs relatively quiet and it is a must have if you live by the coast! I usually run the "smart dry" mode and set it somewhere between 40 to 50 % humidity. You will definitely feel the difference in the room temperature! EPA recommendation for humidity inside the house is between 40 to 60%. It definitely helps with AC usage!

This is the second GE dehumidifier I purchased for my home. I placed it in a bathroom. I was little bit shocked when the first time I powered it up since it was extremely noisy. I noticed that a side panel was vibrating loudly. I reseated it then noise disappeared. It is doing a great job. Strongly recommended.
