I’ve been using the GE - 350 Sq. Ft. 10,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner for a month now, and it has made a massive difference in my comfort during the summer heat. Its performance, features, and ease of use make it a truly commendable appliance.
Firstly, the cooling power of this unit is outstanding. The 10,000 BTU is more than capable of cooling my 350 sq. ft. living space, maintaining a consistently comfortable temperature even during the peak of the day. It does this efficiently, too, without significantly spiking my energy bills.
The unit operates quietly for such a powerful air conditioner, making it perfect for bedrooms or home offices. Even at its highest setting, the noise is a gentle hum, which is easy to adjust to.
Installation was straightforward and user-friendly, thanks to the detailed instructions provided. The fact that it's portable makes it easy to move between rooms if needed, offering added flexibility.
The remote control is a wonderful addition, providing the ability to adjust settings conveniently from across the room. Moreover, the digital thermostat and timer allow for precise control over temperature and operating times, making it easy to tailor the cooling to my preferences and schedule.
This GE Portable Air Conditioner also excels in terms of design. The sleek and compact design doesn't take up much space and blends seamlessly with my home decor. It also features smooth-rolling caster wheels, making it easy to move around.
In terms of maintenance, the easy-to-remove and washable filter is a significant plus. It not only ensures the air conditioner runs efficiently but also helps in maintaining a clean and healthy indoor environment.
In conclusion, the GE - 350 Sq. Ft. 10,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner is a fantastic investment for anyone looking to beat the summer heat. It offers powerful and efficient cooling, quiet operation, easy installation, and user-friendly controls. Its compact and portable design is an added bonus. I wholeheartedly recommend this air conditioner - it's a game-changer in keeping my home cool and comfortable.

GE - 350 Sq. Ft. Portable Air Conditioner
Sometimes you just have to cool a room or space that is oppressively hot. I want to pursue my woodworking during months that are insanely hot here in the south and I only need it for those limited number of months. This GE Air Conditioner is a sleek, effective, easy-to-operate and move air conditioner that is getting the job done for me.
This free-standing, portable room air-conditioner is rated at 6700 BTU (Newest DOE measurement; compares to previous 10,000 ASHRAE measurement of cooling power). It has 3 cooling settings, 3 fan speeds, includes a window venting kit, and its louver can be set to automatically sweep up and down to ensure the cool air is distributed in the room.
SETUP: It’s ready to operate right out of the very protective box. The window vent kit is nicely designed, but it really looks better suited for the classic, older style windows, with simple side tracks and places to easily tack it in place so it won’t shift. My much newer windows have busy side tracks with molded glides and a mix of metal and vinyl insulating trim. It complicates the placement of the kit, but it’s still doable. I’m also a fan of some added insulation around the vent hose and to augment the window plastic insert. I’ll be adding my own. Ensuring the heat removed by the GE is dumped outside will keep operating costs down and aid in cooling my space.
OPERATION: The Remote control has it all, duplicating all of the touch controls and adding a few of its own. There is a cooling, fan and dehumidifying mode. You can set the automatic room temperature and also a timer to complete your control of the schedule of use. That “SWING” button sets the louvre into motion. Everything just works.
NOISE level, in my judgement, is lower in level and less annoying than I remember of my various wall air conditioners in a previous home. As my (uncalibrated) noise meter image indicates, the average level was 68dB at the middle fan setting from 1 meter away. The meter (see picture) describes this level as “Quiet Street” and shows that most of the noise energy is in the lowest frequencies. My previous air conditioners had an annoying “shhhh” sound which is much higher in frequency. While this is higher than my average home level (42-44dB) of sound, it is lower than any vacuum we own or, certainly any of my tools. It’s easy to live with.
SUMMARY: The GE can cool a space with little fuss to set up, less annoyance, and a good set of controls. It even looks good. Recommended.

Really cools down the home

I was pleasantly surprised just at how the portable A/C unit is able to cool down other areas of our home that is often the hottest: our den which the majority of the window faces the sun most of the day, an area roughly 10’ X 20’. Adjacent to that is our living room which also benefits from the cool air produced by this device. Setting up took at least an hour to install, that includes the unpacking and gathering of all tools and materials.
The unit is in a perfect place and the AC source is just right next to it, no need for installing a separate power source. This device is wheeled so it nicely and effortlessly is able to be maneuvered into the right spot. Connecting the vent hose to the window was easy enough and allowed all of that heat to be emptied outside.
While operating, we were stunned at how quiet it is. Utilizing the wireless controls was made easy with the provided remote control. There are three settings you can use: cool, fan and dehumidify. Using cool and fan have been a lifesaver for our family as we live in California, and this time of the year it starts to get warm.
Overall, we are impressed with GE’s portable AC. Quiet and effective, not much more we could ask for.

Good temporary/portable AC unit

I already have a few window units in my house, but the back room gets pretty warm during family gatherings. I didn't want to block the view out of my back windows or permanently install another unit, so this unit's low profile and portability work well for me. I can install it when I need it and store it in my closet when it is not needed.
Pros
- Wireless remote with a display for status information
- Quiet operation compared to a window unit of similar size. Able to hold normal conversations and watch TV with no issue.
- Sleek design
- Easy to use controls
- Unit cycles as needed to control set temperature
- Easy setup - only takes a few minutes (after initial setup)
- Wireless remote storage and cord management are great
- Has a mode to just dry/dehumidify air
Setup
- The initial install was easy, but I did have to cut one side of the window insert to fit my 34" window. The window insert has 3 pieces (a center section and 2 adjustable side sections that connect to it with locking cams). The side sections slide in and out to fit the window, but they can't be too long or they block the center section's vent. The center plus one side section was too short, so I cut the second one down to 6" by scoring it with a box cutter and snapping it.
- The window insert fits snug, but there are still small gaps along the top - I recommend using some foam weather stripping to fill these gaps (not included).
- Wheels and integrated handles make moving it around easy, but it is still heavy if you have to lift it.
- The ring for attaching the vent hose to the unit clicks in and requires a fair bit of pressure (it is new so this might get better over time).
- The exterior vent does not have a screen to keep bugs or debris out. This was not an issue for me since you can leave your window screen in place.
Things to Consider
- This unit draws air from inside the house and exhaust it outside to expel heat - this air must be made up by drawing air from outside from other sources (vents or drafty doors/windows). This could be an issue if your house is well sealed (creating a negative pressure) or if it is really hot or humid outside (as it is pulling in this hot/humid air as it cools the room).
- The vent louver can be set to swing up and down to better spread out the cool air, but you can not adjust it manually. The louver is only adjustable via the remote (don't lose it) and no matter what position it is in, most of the air blows up and to the right.
- This unit tries to evaporate most condensation it makes, but you might still need to empty the internal tank occasionally. It does not have a bucket that you can remove and dump. If you have a low window or a floor drain you can connect a hose to the upper drain and use it continuously, otherwise you have to use the lower drain when the tank is full. The instructions suggest collecting this water in a pan, but it seems like that would be awkward since the drain is only a couple inches off the floor. My unit is only a few feet from the back door so I was able to roll it outside and drain it on the patio before storing it.

The unit cools a room well and is easy to set up. The unit is loud so if you are a light sleeper, this may be a problem. The unit is heavy but I could move it around. I only need air conditioning a few days out of the year so it works for me.

Control are simple and easily understood. Cool mode has a low fan speed which is quieter for night time use. Dry mode for dehumidifier. Remote can be tucked/stored in the back. Filters can be cleaned and reused. Easy to setup. FL will display to warn you on draining internal tank. Just unscrew bottom plug. Make sure vent outside is at least 20” away from unit. Unfortunately the window sealing plates don’t fit my huge windows exactly. We have to add cardboard and tape. Overall this unit cools out vaulted ceilings living room of about 200+ sq ft. Worth it.

Works really well! Few things to consider: I have a fairly big window in my room and the window cards it comes with does not extend end to end on my window. So measure your window frame before hand. It’s decently loud as well, so if you have it running close by your tv, or really anywhere in your room, it’s definitely going to interfere with the volume levels. As of this review date, that’s all the information I have, will update as time passes ☺️

Bought this unit since my other one of a different brand decided to lose all of its Freon for no apparent reason. I live on the second floor and cars are parked outside the only window I’d be able to use for a window ac, so that wasn’t an option. I’ve had 3 portable ac units before this one and I do love the ease of setup and placement. My main issue with them though is that they never seem to last more than a few months.
So this time I’m going with ge. I’ve had their windows units and never had a problem so thought maybe a brand change would solve my problem. This one cools down my master bedroom fairly quickly, but it is supplementing the central ac. Being on the second floor and west facing means the central ac doesn’t cool my room very well. With this working with the central ac everything cools down to a livable temperature. It’s not perfect though. One side of the room will read the set temperature, but the other side will be at least 3-4 degrees warmer, so I still use a floor fan to help circulate the air.
So, setup is a breeze. Especially if you’ve done one before. The window kit has built in sliding locks, so no more screws to deal with when putting that together. The hose goes into the window kit and slides to the right and locks into place, so no random hose falling out nonsense. It’s smaller than my previous one and the lights are less bright and less obnoxious. This is a basic unit though, no WiFi or app control. The remote works well though, I do miss being able to turn one on as I’m leaving work and have the room cool when I get home. If it lasts, then it’s a trade off I’ll gladly make.
My only con (assuming it doesn’t break in a few months) is the noise. The wind noise doesn’t bother me, but the compressor makes a lot of high pitched noises and is just loud in general. It’s taken several weeks to get used to it while sleeping.
Overall I’m happy with it. I bought a geek squad extended warranty just because I don’t want to be several hundred dollars in the hole for a third time.

This 3 in 1 unit is a great way to cool a smaller room or help even out airflow in a home with that one hot room. In my case I put it in my bedroom since the AC is upstairs the lower level rooms do not cool as well. Also during the day our smart AC keeps the house warmer since we are not home. That is where this fits in. I am able to add extra cool air in a room where my dogs sleep while we are at work during our hot Florida summers. It also is a fan and dehumidifier. As for setup it was ready out of the box except I needed to connect the exhaust. The only con was that the exhaust hose seems more meant for vertical windows than my newer vinyl horizontal windows. Also it had some gaps that GE should have included some insulation pieces to fill in since all windows are different. Beside that this is a great ac unit.

Review after a year:
Bought 2 units, one for a bedroom and one for a small living room. Worked great last summer, very cold and noise is a minimum. Was put away for the colder seasons (about 8 months). Started using them again this summer and about a week after the one year factory warranty was over, it started showing error messages. The instruction manual gives minimal information on these error messages. It also states that GE will replace entire unit within the year but they don’t provide parts or fix units for this type of model. Shortly after, my second unit started showing the same error message (E4). They blow cool air but not cold. It shuts on and off constantly and it makes sounds like if it’s frozen and ice is breaking off inside of it. Please purchase extended warranty to avoid headaches. I spent all this money to use these units for 2 summers. Air conditioners should last for years, especially such a known brand like this. I do not recommend!

Still blowing ice cold after 2 years. I use it in a rather small room (88 sq ft) and it cools the room down very quickly. I even get cold at times. It is loud for a small space but not unbearable. I use headphones during video calls and it's fine. Plus the person on the other end doesn't hear it. The remote is helpful for adjusting the temp during meetings, appointments, etc.

Purchased this air conditioner due to the high temps we've gotten this summer and we are super happy with it! Easy to install and cools the room very quickly and efficiently. We bought this less than a month ago now it works great the remote that it comes with actually works lol its freezing cold air puts a a nice chill to our room on hot and humid days. The only thing that worries me is, we only really run it at night while we sleep when i shut it off in the early morning i smell a burning smell like something is very hot. This just started happening yesterday! So we had been using it the same way for almost a month before it started to do this..

I bought the item in April 2023, the hot air extractor was unbalanced and made a lot of noise. I took the air to the store in mid-May and they changed it for a new one without any problem. The air conditioning and the installation kit are of good material and design (the screws are missing to install the kit in the window). I give it 4 stars because of the mishap with the first A/C. I recommend the A/C because it is quiet and it cools a 110 square foot room very well

Installation was a bit tricky because I have odd windows. It cools very well, but is definitely loud, even at the lowest setting. It really needs a sleep setting. Remote is easy to use but it would be helpful if it was illuminated for easy use at night.
