I love this AC unit, specially that it is smart and I can connect it to Apple, Google or Amazon.
It is easy to use and works great for my 350 sqf room.
The only downside is that that, at least my units, last only one year and then the unit starts to turn on and off every 5 seconds (short cycling).
It looks like this is a know issue (I found a lot of articles about it) the 2 units that fail on me where outside the manufacture warranty by 1 month so I had to use the geek squad warranty and it got replaced at my local Best Buy, no issues.
I would highly recommend at least the 2 year extended warranty base on my experience with this issues.
Besides that the AC unit it’s great!!

I bought this 8,000 BTU unit to replace an older 6,000 btu LG window unit because it was in my bedroom and making too much inconsistent noise: rattling, loudly turning on and off, etc.
So far this unit is perfect. It's powerful, flat front blends right into the room, comes with extensive sealing foam tape and panels for a tight, light and air-proof fit.
While not the quietest AC unit around, the noise is actually very pleasant. A very even, consistent muffled white noise which I actually prefer for sleeping. It's still quiet for 8,000btu, much quieter than my older units.
The energy saving features work well, and so far I don't notice the sound when the compressor turns on and off when it reaches temperature.
All the subtle LED lights turn off after a couple minutes, this unit was made for bedrooms and light sleepers! No annoying indicator lights stay on. I used to have to tape over the display and around the edges of my old unit to prevent light leaks. Not this one.
It was easy to install, came with everything you would need except a screwdriver. It's a larger unit, so like most it's size and bigger you might want to get an AC shelf if you have small sills. I have large window sills so I didn't need to do that.

Finally, a truly SMART air conditioner!

Smart products are always very helpful and fun to use once you get them installed. It's getting them working that can often be the primary headache though. As an owner of another air conditioner, the Frigidaire Cool Connect Smart Window Air Conditioner, I can tell you that it can sometimes be a real challenge. Usually my late spring consists of firing up the Frigidaire and spending an hour or so getting it on to my wi-fi network. Last year it got disconnected and I just gave up on it as it wasn't worth the hassle.
So upon receiving this I had a mixture of optimism and dread that it would be the same routine. Thankfully that wasn't to be the case. First of all this air conditioner comes packaged really nice with everything you will need in regards to installing it. It comes with more standard brackets and screws than my Frigidaire and, thus, makes for a better and more secure fit. It also comes with a decent amount of insulation as well, although perhaps getting a small insulation kit may be prudent depending upon your window and how it fits. Thankfully for my window this AC came with everything I need, and everything most people will need as well.
The instructions are clear, concise and lead you step by step on how to install it. I would have liked some of the pictures to be larger is my only complaint here. I am not the best at putting things non-electronic together so of course I struggled a little by installing the side flaps backwards, not once, but twice. I also input the fan part on each side in the wrong way which required a bit more hassle to get working. Just remember to snap the fan part into the AC first before the bracket; don't be a dummy like me and do it the opposite. After about 30-40 minutes of reading and getting the AC ready (please note that a "normal person" would take about 10 minutes at most here!) I was ready to throw this thing in the wall. First I input the insulation provided on the top, sides and bottom of the window, then mounted the air conditioner. After a few minutes of lining it all up I started inputting the screws to the window. I did that and then skipped the two base brackets because my window frame does not accommodate them. Inputting the side cover panels was very easy as it was just pull off tape on the back. I used the remaining insulation to do each side of the window to cover the 1/2" left slightly agape.
Now, using the app I was able to get connected to my network after a few minutes. The only issue I ran into during this process was I was long-pressing the WI-FI button and you are only supposed to just press it normally. On the Frigidaire you long-press the button for about 5 seconds to get it working. After wasting a few minutes figuring this out I was up and my AC was connected and controllable from my phone. No searching. No re-connecting. No nonsense, it connected and worked right away! This was huge to me and was such a relief that it just worked and was easy to do. Trust me, after all my battles with my Frigidaire this was so much better. Now let's hope it stays that way! Note that I also was able to very easily setup and control my new air conditioner with my Google Home using the setup instructions GE emailed me after getting the window unit online. Really cool.
As for how well the air conditioner works, well in my medium sized office that is about 150 square feet, this thing cooled it very quickly. The unit may not be large but the air that comes out is ice cold. My room went from 77 degrees to 74 degrees in about 15 minutes and finally settled to a cool 70 degrees at the thirty minute mark. I was very impressed and feel as if this unit outperforms the Frigidaire in both the smart capacity as well as the cooling capacity.
All in all I heartily recommend the GE Smart Window Air Conditioner. Especially if you are looking for a smart window air conditioner. I don't think it really gets any better than this unit to be honest. I hope all air conditioners going forward have this technology and can utilize it as handily as the GE AC does!

This is an excellent air conditioner. It runs fairly quietly for a window unit. It cools the room down quickly. It works so well I find myself raising the temperature as I start to get too cold. The remote is easy and works well as well. It was easy to install and not overly heavy. I find this to be a very good buy from Best Buy.

I was replacing an existing, same sized unit, so installation was easy. I liked the adhesive foam sheet provided to insulate the accordion spacers on either side of the unit. I ended up using thicker foam strips on the top and bottom. In humid weather, it really pulls the water out of the air. Make sure that the unit is tipped to the outside for proper condensation flow (instructions talk about the tilt). On previous units, I had added a drain hole so water didn't pool, but the instructions warn against it. With the proper tilt, the water pools where it's suposed to. The WiFi app for the unit has some fun features like power usage (kW), in coming air temp, plus remote control of all front panel controls. The fan on high isn't too loud, but it does cool.

I've only had this air conditioner for about a month. What is great about it is it is relatively small and lightweight, and produces a very nice 8,000 BTU room. You do not need an external bracket to mount this in a window -- screwing it into the window for safety is just fine. Installation was pretty easy. I have a 15x20 room and it cools it down fine. I like the way it looks as well. I have no idea on how to use the wifi connection on this air conditioner, and even if I did I don't think I would use it. Just turn on the air conditioner when you get home -- the room cools down very quickly. So don't spend up for wifi connection -- I don't think it's worth it. It was not the most energy efficient air conditioner I could find, but it was priced well for the BTU, so I got it. I like it. You should buy third-party heavy foam strips to insure insulation between the window and air conditioner and keep bugs out. None of the air conditioners provide enough foam, and GE is no exception.

I’ve only had this air conditioner installed for a few days, but it is simply glorious! It. Is. Cold!!! It’s installed in my bedroom. I HAVE to have a very cold room or I won’t sleep. This AC definitely does the trick! 64° feels more like 50° - which is perfect! There is also an app. The air conditioner connects to my WiFi and can be managed through the app. I can even have different schedules as to what temp I want the AC to be on and at what time. The air conditioner comes with a remote or you can control the settings through the app on your phone. I haven’t had the AC installed very long, but I’m incredibly satisfied with it. If you’re having and doubts, stop doubting and buy this AC.

Installation directions were a bit confusing, but everything else about this AC unit is great. The unit is fairly quiet, especially when compared to my portable AC unit. It has 3 speeds and there is not much difference in the noise they make. It has wifi and it was really wasy to set up and works flawlessly. Even connected it to Alexa and had it working in less than a minute. I have this set up in my master bedroom and cools it down very quickly. Definitely worth the price to get.

eco mode...

Eco mode works best when room temp is relayed via the remote to the ac unit. Frigidaire has this feature on some units. Eco mode may work better if you have a fan pushing room air onto the temp sensor on front of ac unit. Smart app works, you just have to close the app before changing settings on ac unit each time or it may not work. Check power consumption on main settings screen to see if compressor did kick on. Unit is quit and cools well. I give the unit 4.5 stars, and app 3.5 stars.

Good efficiency

Pros: It's clearly more energy efficient than our old unit. The 'smart' aspect of unit is a good step in the right direction, but there's room for improvement. It tells you how much electricity it uses on a day-to-day basis, which is great. But when attempting to ascertain the temperature, I'm not even sure if it's trying to read indoor or outdoor. Getting it on our wifi was relatively painless. Being able to control it from my phone comes in handy because nobody puts the remote back where it belongs. Oh, and it cools the space it advertises.
Cons: It's a tad noisier than I'd hoped for, but not more than the old unit it replaced. Fitting it into the window is always a tad awkward, but that's been my experience with almost all window units.

I have an old house with no central air. We had 1 very old 12,000btu window unit that we used to cool the 1st floor. It worked okay, but was very loud, ran constantly, and weighted over 120lbs. Since we are getting older, we decided to try this smaller unit. We bought 2 and put them at opposite ends of our 1st floor. They are much lighter and not as loud as our old unit. Love the features, especially the ability to control through my phone. We have them both set on 72 using the ECO and AUTO during the day and 74 when we go to bed. They come on and off as needed, and my 1st floor keeps very cool (using ceiling fans to move the air through the house). Great buy, I couldn't be happier!

Great A/C. I’ve owned this for one full year now, and I would buy this again! I live in an 600-700sq ft old apartment with no central air, and the upstairs loft & bedroom has 4 skylights and 2 old windows - so you can imagine how hot it gets in the middle of summer. My first summer in this apartment I had a portable A/C unit that ran so hard trying to keep up with the open concept upstairs that it died after 4 months. I changed to two window units, one larger, and one smaller for the bedroom area. Between the two, my space cools quickly, consistently, and circulates the air well downstairs. These are easy to install and I’m still able to open the top half of my windows when it’s spring/fall. When I don’t need air, but want a fan, the option is amazing. I keep these out year round, they’re sturdy and easy to clean. BUY THIS!!

This ac was perfect for my small home! It was easy to install (which other reviews have said so I’m glad they were right). It’s also pretty quiet! I’m so happy it’s not super noisy. My regular box fan was louder. That’s the main reason I’m writing a review is because I’m happy with the noise level. Also it does get very cool very fast! Overall happy with it!

It was worth it. Easy and simple to put together and install. I love the remote feature, and the wireless makes it even better. I turn the ac on to cool off the room before I get home. And of course I will not get an ac unless it has the eco feature. Not as loud as most ac’s for this amount of btu, quiet, and sufficient.
