WiFi features very convenient, some setup hiccups
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This GE Smart Window Air Conditioner was easy to install in my window, with clear instructions and all required parts (but not tools) provided in the box. There was plenty of insulation material – including strips for the inside of the window opening and flat panels that cover the accordion flaps on either side of the unit. The AC unit is easy to use from the control panel, which uses actual temperature units (so you can set the temperature to, say, 72 degrees, not just an unmarked spot on a range from red to blue). Like most window AC units, there are multiple fan speeds, a fan-only mode, and an energy saver that turns both the cooling function and the fan off when the desired temperature is reached. There's also a compact remote control that's intuitive and unobtrusive. The most convenient thing about this AC unit is the WiFi connectivity, although I had some trouble setting that up. I tried first using my Android phone. Although it’s a high-end phone, with the latest Android OS, I kept getting stuck at the same step. After three unsuccessful attempts, I tried my wife's iPhone, and it worked like a charm. I was up and running less than 5 minutes later. I’m happy to report that once I got the AC unit set up, I was able to use either my Android or my wife’s iPhone to control it. That’s all done using the Comfort GE app, which works like an anywhere remote control for the AC unit and temperature monitor for the room. It’s great for turning the AC on and off from another room or across town. It also has a feature to create a cooling schedule, and another that uses real-time phone location to control the AC as we come and go. We use Google Assistant often, so I was excited to connect the AC unit to that. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find anything called “GE” or “Comfort GE” in my Google Assistant setup menu. Eventually, I checked my email and saw that GE had sent instructions to use something called “SmartHQ” to make the Google Assistant connection. It would have been quite helpful to have that information somewhere in the GE Comfort app, in the card in the box that described Wi Fi connectivity features, etc. That said, once I had SmartHQ connected, I was up and running, asking Google Assistant to turn on and off the AC or the fan for me. Overall, this is a solid window AC unit. There were a few hurdles getting the smart features configured, but now that they're up and running, they're already proving to be quite convenient.

Doesn’t get cold
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this three weeks ago and it doesn’t get cold. It blows cool air but not cold. The app doesn’t save the correct setting while away either. I called Best Buy to try and exchange it but they won’t allow me because it’s been longer then their two week policy. Got screwed for a whole week. It also started blowing water out of the vents. Waste of money for Texas heat

Too loud
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very upset that I can’t return this it is loud and the energy saver does not work properly, sometimes it does sometimes it doesn’t. For the price I thought I was getting an upgrade from my previous AC.

Posted .Hi there. We appreciate the feedback on your air conditioner. We are sorry to hear it is not living up to its name and would appreciate the opportunity to help. For the quietest operation, make sure the unit is secured firmly to the window to prevent as much vibration as possible. In Eco Mode, the fan will turn off and on intermittently. If this is not working correctly, please call 866-907-1655 to take advantage of the warranty. Thanks! - John@GEA

Waste of money
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Worse Air Conditioners I've ever bought. It barely cools the room. I have to use a fan to help circulate the little airflow that it lets out and that still doesn't do much. I hate this thing. Complete waste of money. Now i have to purchase a new Air Conditioner again this year. GE Never again. The bad thing is that i bought two different models and they both suck. Back to Frigidaire i go

AVOID THIS UNIT!
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Unit thermostat failed after three weeks of use. Would report a temperature of 37F while room temperature was in the 80s. Unplugging the unit and plugging back in appeared to reset the thermostat, but the temperature readout would drop from 77F to 68F in under a minute, then drop to 59F two minutes later, turning off the compressor, since the lowest setting is 64F. The temperature reading would continue to drop over the next few minutes until it would settle on 35-41F with the fan just blowing hot room air around. You can’t trust the brand name anymore, this is a rebranded Chinese lemon. Avoid it like the plague.

THROW AWAY Appliance
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Installation parts were very nice, and the WiFi connectivity features connected easily and are nice as well... But well it worked great for a year, and now that the warranty is expired by only One Month the cooling is not so great and evaporator freezes indicating a low refrigerant charge. Repair charge cost more than a new one, so be warned this is a THROW AWAY Appliance...

Failed at 1 year mark
||Posted . Owned for 11 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Luckily it died right after the heat dome ended, but $300 for one season of use is not worth. Noticed it wasn’t as cold as last year but thought I could make it work, guess not. At this point I don’t think GE is worth it.

Avoid at all costs!!!
||Posted . Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Avoid GE air conditioners. I have had 2 of them and they both burned out in 2 years. Electronic panels on both of them stopped working. They're priced affordable because they simply do not last.

Posted .Hello, thank you for your review. We are sincerely sorry your air conditioner is not operating properly so soon into its lifespan. We truly understand how that would be frustrating. We are seeing that this air conditioner is a "Return to Vendor" model as parts for it are extremely limited. In this case, we recommend you reach out to your local Best Buy to evaluate what your options for repair or replacement are. If your would like to view the details of your air conditioner’s warranty, we recommend you check out page 17 of your owner’s manual, found on our website. However, if you would instead prefer to troubleshoot this yourself, we recommend checking your circuit breaker as it may have become tripped and needs reset. Otherwise, please feel free to reach out to us on social media so we can assist you in finding a comparable unit. -Chris@GEA

||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Was okay at first then like Ll others made within the last few yearsstopped working well enough and barelykept the room cool. Did not even have it long enough before trying another brand and just threw this one out instead of dealing with it. Sadly forgot I paid for the extended service plan.

Not Worth your Money/effort
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Within a week - it started giving problems and we investigated online it seems like this particular model has a problem with where the circuit is placed for smart control. This is really not worth the time /effort of buying and installing
