I really should have bought the Speed queen washing machine instead of this one. Doesn't clean well, even for something as simple as bodywash rags. Do not purchase this machine if you have older plumbing set up. The pressure is too much and will flood out of the drain pipe vs the older style washing machines that slowly released the water. The common issues I've had with it are as followed: *If anyone has any knowledge on these issues please let me know* -If you like to presoak your clothing, then do it in a separate container or tub because The water will drain out within about 7-10 minutes so. -unlike my previous washing machine that (I wish I would have brought with me) was the old school type, theres no way to reset the washer until it's finished whatever it's doing. Unplugging it does not reset. Old school washers can be reset just by unplugging it. If this washer is stuck in the issue cycle, you cannot fix it without a computer compatible with the brand. -randomly This washer will be in mid-cycle on the wash setting and will dump all of the water before it has finished. It doesn't happen all the time but it's common. Leave the lid open otherwise it can start by itself. -before the one year manufacturers warranty was up, I had three service techs here fixing the issues. I really regret getting this washing machine and I regret not having the money to get the extended warranty. The techs did not recommend this model based on the quantity of the service calls he got on it. -Becomes unbalanced frequently. Even when one of the technicians was here, he ran it through about 10 cycles to make sure everything was okay and he brought his stuff to put into the drum to make it balanced, it kept throwing off balance codes and the washing machine moved about 4 ft away from my wall and almost caused a flood. I do not recommend

Posted .Hi - We regret to hear about your dissatisfaction with your washer and apologize for any inconvenience or frustration you have experienced. Our top load washers do have powerful drain pumps that can pump water at a rate of 15 gallons per minute. Your drain pipe should be a minimum of 1-1/2" I.D. (inside diameter) to ensure proper draining and a minimum of 30" above the floor.
You can manually soak clothing in your washer. After the washer has stopped filling and begins agitation, press the Pause/Start button one time. Be sure and leave the lid closed. The washer will remain in Pause mode for 24 hours at which time it will automatically pump the water from the tub. If you inadvertently leave the lid open, the water will drain after 15 minutes.
If the lid is left open after any cycle has begun, the washer will drain after 15 minutes.
To help reduce unbalanced loads, make sure the washer is level by placing a level on the top of the machine. Check the level sitting front to back and left to right. Adjust the level legs if needed. When loading, do not wrap large items around the perimeter of the tub or agitator. It's important to place the item to be washed on one side and balance the load by placing other items on the other side of the tub. The washer has the ability to attempt to rebalance the load to some extent on it's own. If the washer is not able to rebalance itself, we recommend pausing the cycle and try to redistribute the load manually. If you continue to have issues with your washer, we recommend contacting GE service at 1-800-432-2737 to schedule an appointment to have the washer checked. We do hope this helps. Vikki@GEA

I replaced a newer Samsung model that was not getting my clothes clean. I was really disappointed with it's performance. I can control the amount of water used and it has a soak cycle. The washer's cycles are so much more efficient, I finish all of my laundry in half the time. Because the spin cycle is so much better, my clothes take much less time to dry now. I have never owned a GE appliance before. Fingers crossed. I will upgrade this review if any problems arise.
