INSULATION? Stovetop TOO HOT when baking

I used a thermometer to measure 125 F at front and 165F at the rear of stovetop. My previous stove was warm but i could leave my hand on the rear stovetop all day but on this one my hand would have been slowly cooked/burned.

Posted .Thanks for taking the time to share your concerns. It is normal for the cooking surface on a gas range to be warm, or even hot to the touch when cooking. This is especially true if you have been baking or broiling for an extended period of time as the oven is usually vented up through the backsplash and heat from the oven is then directed downward toward the cooktop. -Vikki@GEAppliances

Took that back and reordered. After waiting 3 more weeks the new one came with a dent. After promising us a 50 dollar gift card were still waiting. Will never buy from Best Buy again.

Plummer came out and change the valve and connected tubing. We contacted the store and the range was installed two days later. Have had no problem since. FYI, the delivery was 2 weeks late and we were told to request compensation after delivery. The gift card would be a nice compensation.
