I have a basement about 500 sq ft and this unit works very well and keeps the area quite cool. It is also easy to use. However, it is quite noisy much of the time. I would try to find a quieter model if making the purchase again.

I bought this in anticipation of a hot summer since I have been working from home. If you are a light sleeper, look for something quieter. It will do its job of cooling down your room but comes at the cost of a loud compressor. I thought the design was clean and simple; overall, the unit is utilitarian but lacks proper noise-dampening insulation or cushioning to absorb the vibration when it operates. Even the plastic front filter cover makes a rattling sound. I tried to sound-proof the unit a bit by applying adhesive foam along the back of the filter cover that latches to the front of the unit and by placing a layer of styrofoam between the A/C bottom and the window sill to absorb some of the vibrations but the motor is loud especially at start-up. I will probably get used to it over time. Otherwise, the smart features are very helpful in regulating the room temperature.

So far I'm really happy with this AC. I'm really enjoying being able to turn this on via Alexa or using the app on my phone - I think that's one of the selling features. It's on the louder side for an AC but nothing crazy and it definitely cranks out the cold air. The filter has been easy to clean and I've only had to do it once in about 30 days. I do also really like that the LED lights on the front go to sleep after about 30 seconds, so no additional light added to your room at night.

Very powerful, makes the fan noisy but really puts out the cool air. A little heavy but manageable.

We bought this unit when our central A/C went out. Along with two additional 6000 BTU units, our whole house stays very cool. Was easy to install. Very happy with our purchase.

Awesome air conditioner, cools an entire basement really fast, hasn’t seemed to affect the electric bill drastically and I love the WiFi feature, I can turn the unit on from anywhere.

This Ac unit has convenient smart options that could probably be used to program all kinds of things. However, it's most important feature is it blow cold air, and during 2020 I was home, so programming stuff didn't happen. It works well, and was a good price.

Absolutely love this AC. It’s placed in a room much larger than what is recommended and it does an amazing job. Yes it takes a little longer to come down to the desired temp but it maintains it perfectly. When I say a little longer, it’s still a very short amount of time.
I never hooked it up to WiFi so I can’t speak about it’s capabilities there.
Go a unit this strong, I’d consider it pretty lightweight and compact.
Would definitely recommend

The AC definitely manages to get my entire room freezing during the summer. Where our room is located where the sun mostly hits the house so this large ac helps! It’s just a bit loud.

No Cold Air

After reading the negative reviews in regard to the loud noise of the AC, I’ve come to realize i wish that was my only problem with this unit. Instead, right out of the box, and brand new, the AC is only blowing out mildly cool air as if its only a ‘fan’ working. I’ve tried every mode, lowered/highered temps slightly, reset the AC, connected it to Wifi. Nothing has worked at all. Its not the size of the room, because i can feel the air coming out not feeling ‘cold’ period. I dont see any damage on it, nothing out of place, and its properly installed in the window. Now i wish i bought another brand, because its safe to say i never had any good experiences with GE appliances. Its a shame now i have to lug this back to Best Buy after spending $320. So my final recommendation would be buy anything else... Frigidaire or whatever. But this is the most unreliable brand for appliances Ive known in my life.

Brand response from GE Answers

Hello,
We're terribly sorry to hear that your air conditioner is not cooling very well. We definitely understand how frustrating that is. We'd like to provide some troubleshooting tips. Check to make sure nothing is blocking the front of the air conditioner. When the unit is blocked by curtains, blinds, or furniture, the air flow is restricted and cooling performance will be affected. Consider the temperature of the room when the air conditioner was first turned on. If the room was very hot it will take longer to cool the room. When heat is stored up in walls, furniture, rugs and draperies, it will take longer to cool the room down. Whenever possible, turn the air conditioner on before the room heats up. We hope this helps! Cools the upstairs bedroom areas that are always very hot in the 90+ degree days.
It is a little more loud than than I like, but tolerable.
Overall satisfied with the product and cost.

Arrived ahead of schedule and was easy to setup. Fits in the bedroom window with the supplied adjustable/accordion window fillers opened to about 4 inches on each side. Can make room really cold when only set midway. Energy efficient. Love the Wifi control to turn on and off remotely. Can turn it on to cool or adjust temperature of the room before we come home or after we leave. Totally satisfied.
