GE seems to not care about quality control as this was on sale brand new from Best Buy. I'd suspect that it's related to the bearings of the motor fan or just the bearings of a fan somewhere but this should have been properly lubed to prevent such issues. I thought I could tolerate the noise but it's to the point where it sounds like its screeching at you 24/7 if you leave the AC on.

Loud squeaky sound
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.The AC is unusable after running in AC mode for a few minutes due to a loud squeaky noise (sounds like the fan coming in contact with styrofoam). It seems to be caused by the presence of the smallest amounts of water and condensation in the unit. Getting this issue fixed has been a nightmare so far. I've attempted to use the GE app to schedule maintenance and there are allegedly no technicians in my area. Calling the provided # number resulted in a lengthy hold and being hung up on after 20 minutes.

Also poor instructions on temp control. it came with temp set at 72 Great at cooling the place turn itself off. didn't turn itself on after until room got into the 80's
