Dont waste your money
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Better off with the 8000 btu Insignia brand, poor temp control and didnt cool as well. The only good thing I can say about it is the window exhaust kit is better than the others. But for the price it isnt worth it.

450 Sq. Ft. Smart Portable Air Conditioner 11,000
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.SUMMARY: We have central air, but to avoid cooling our entire home, we like having a portable AC unit to cool just our bedroom on warm summer nights. The GE Portable Air Conditioner is much sleeker, quiet and more efficient than our old clunker of a portable AC unit. One of the things I appreciate is the feature through the app to set an auto shut-off time. Our old unit would over-cool the room during the night and we’d wake up to an ice box in the morning that made it extra difficult to get out of bed in the morning. This also allows us to use less energy since we can set it to shut off during the early morning hours while we are already asleep. Overall, I am pleased with the unit and it has become an essential part of our nighttime routine. FEATURES: - Suited for Medium size rooms. We use this unit for our master bedroom. - GE Smart HQ app for personalized control and automation for your personal preferences and schedule. Also comes with remote. - Comes with wheels for easy moving. - 3-in-1 with air conditioning, de-humidifier and fan. - Cleanable & removable filter PROS: • Comes already fully assembled. Easy to set up. • Works for both traditional and casement style window. • Cools AND dehumidifies. • Works quickly – the room seems to cool down dramatically within a few minutes. • Noticeably quieter than our older portable AC. (55 decibels on high fan) • GE Smart HQ App includes remote control and automation. Set your preferred temp, turn-on and shut-off times to suit your schedule. • Louvers on the AC vent so you can control the direction of airflow CONS: • Quite heavy at 60 lbs. Works for a single level home but not something you’d want to be carrying up and down the stairs. • Not fully what I would consider to be a “Smart” product. The app is ok but it would have been a much better feature if it could have been compatible with Alexa or Google Home. • Not very detailed install instructions, but with past experience we were able to figure it out. • Mounting components could be better. Seems a bit on the lower end. Does not provide any screws, etc for mounting into the window. CONCLUSION: Overall happy with the product and has become an essential as the summer nights begin to warm up. It is major upgrade from our old hand-me-down unit. The GE unit works well, is aesthetically sleek, efficient and not too bulky. It helps lower our power usage and does the job at cooling our bedroom. However, it would have been even better if it was able to integrate itself into our Alexa/Google Home smart home set up.

Great Small Portable AC
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Small sized air conditioner that packs a punch. I have an older portable air conditioner and while it still works and runs well it has a couple of issues. The first is that it’s very large and also Incredibly loud. So I was pleasantly surprised when I received the box and noticed that it was relatively small compared to the other portable AC I have seen. So have unpacking and getting everything set up which was incredibly easy. I turned it on and waited to see how loud it would get. I raised the Fan to max level and was very happy that it was nowhere near as loud as the previous one. Now is it quiet, no it is not it still makes a decent amount of noise but compared to others it is very quiet. In terms of performance it works great. We occasionally use a portable AC in our kitchen because of how our house is set up the kitchen tends to get very hot even when the rest of the house is cool. And this did a good job of keeping cool. I’m very happy with this air conditioner and would recommend it to anyone looking for one. The smaller size and sound volume is really great and the easy set up and use makes this the one to get.

Wonderful
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is sooo much better than my 10000 year old window unit- which I absolutely despise!!!! I love that it’s portable with wheels!!! And we didn’t have to struggle to put it in the window, (we have slider windows) installation was pretty straightforward, boyfriend did it himself, this comes with everything you need to install so we did not have to order or buy extra parts. Unit operates and functions well, quiet and I like that this is able to be operated from my smart phone and it also brings a remote control .This is a 3- in- one unit and the dehumidifier is a huge plus for us since our house for someone odd reason is always humid. We dumped our old dehumidifier and now have this combo which is awesome! Hopefully this helps me with me with my electric bill with not running so many units in the room (since this is a 3 in 1 combo) I would say this is good for a small to medium sized room. I am overall very satisfied with my unit and don’t have to look at our old yellow bulky unit anymore!

not perfect, but solid choice
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.good: - cold - This little unit pumps out come cold air. I am currently using it in my home office and it does a fantastic job of keeping the entire room cool, even with all the tech in that room that produces quite a bit of heat (router, modem, desktop, etc.). I live in Phoenix, and this unit keeps me from having to keep the rest of the house icy cold just so I can try to keep cool in a warm office. - remote - The remote seems to have all the same function access as the front panel, which is super convenient. - smartHQ app (built in wifi) - The SmartHQ app (and of course built in wifi) are a nice touch, though I do get the impression these features aren't quite ready for prime time. Still, when they do work they are very convenient, having essentially the same functionality as the remote and the front panel. Maybe you want to set the temp on your way home, before you get there? Unfortunately there's no scheduling ability, but assuming you're cooling a small-medium sized room, it won't take much time to cool it off. - relatively compact - Relatively small footprint for how much cool air it pumps out. - washable filter - No expensive filters to purchase. Outstanding! bad: - noisy - I do find that it's a bit noisy, though the benefits far outweigh that. I measured about 60dB on cool/low fan. The good news is it doesn't seem to get much louder than that, but that's enough to impact say, a Zoom call using the laptop microphone. I usually either put my ear buds in (which filter out some of the ambient noise) or turn off the AC during calls. Not a huge negative but worth mentioning. misc: - automatic "louvers" - When the unit is turned on, there is a little "louver" or sort of a directional fin which automatically opens and moves into position to push the air at an angle. It's a nice touch, my only concern would be that it's not the most durable of parts. - included air vent kit - It's just "ok", but could be a little more robust. In my case, it didn't even fit my (admittedly larger but not huge) office window. - cycles off and on quite a bit - I'm not sure if it's the actual temperature variance, but it feels like, in trying to keep a constant say, 72 degrees F, it will cycle on, run for 5 minutes or whatever, then off for a minute, then back on. It doesn't seem to affect functionality, but I do notice that the cooling unit cycles on/off fairly often. - power usage (tripped breakers) - In my case, having my office all on one breaker, I find that I'm having issues with it tripping, especially if I fire up my PC with its power hungry GPU. The AC unit itself stays mostly at a constant 6 or so amps, but occasionally I'll see it spike up to around 9. Add this to the 4-5 amps I see from my computer when I'm gaming and it's not long before the 15 amp breaker trips. overall: Overall I think this is a pretty solid little unit, and it very much gets the job done. 4 stars.

Nice to have for room to room cooling
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The GE - 450 Sq. Ft. Smart Portable Air Conditioner 11,000 BTU – White is easily up and running right out of the box. The GE - 450 Sq. Ft. Smart Portable Air Conditioner 11,000 BTU – White is the perfect portable air conditioner for me, because I can move it around to rooms without a window air conditioner to cool them down. The GE - 450 Sq. Ft. Smart Portable Air Conditioner 11,000 BTU – White produces a powerful blast of air to cool down my over heated rooms. Also, I can just use the three speeds of the fan when I only need air circulation. The exhaust hose assembly installs easily just by turning it counterclockwise. The length of the exhaust is long enough to reach most windows and it has great flexibility to get a perfect fit in the window panel. The GE - 450 Sq. Ft. Smart Portable Air Conditioner 11,000 BTU – White has a remote control to operate the mode, temperature, hours, fan speed, timer and swing. I cannot use the dehumidification dry mode, because I live in a city with low humidity levels causing dry air normally. The GE - 450 Sq. Ft. Smart Portable Air Conditioner 11,000 BTU – White serves its purpose of producing a strong burst of cold air to cool down any of my rooms and also allows me the ability to circulate already cool air throughout my room in a short time. I am happy that I have the GE - 450 Sq. Ft. Smart Portable Air Conditioner 11,000 BTU – White in my home.

Convenient cooling
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My old window AC was on its way out and on the wrong end of the house, so I wanted a portable unit that wouldn't look ugly hanging out the front window. This is a nice unit, doesn't obstruct much of the window. The fact that it is wifi enabled it the big seller. If I'm downstairs or not even home I can turn this AC on and off when it gets too warm. It will cool the room quickly because even on low it really pushes the air. It is a bit on the louder side, so probably won't be the best for sleeping but better than sweating! The sound level is pretty much the same when the compressor kicks in, so that's nice. Setup is a bit frustrating. The part that goes in the window(even tho it says) doesn't work for windows 21-30" without cutting the extension. What you get is different from the picture too, the hole is right in the middle not off to the side like it should be. You'll also want to weatherstrip and caulk around the places where pieces fit together. (if you are leaving it in place for the summer.) the app the directions say to download is wrong. There are 3 GE ones in the play store, get the orange one! Once you do, setup is pretty straightforward. The unit takes up a bit of space and has to be 20" away from the wall. Would have been nice if it was designed for the exhaust to exit the top of the back instead of jutting straight out. All in all, it is worth it for the ability to easily cool the top level of my home.

Pretty Nifty Air Conditioner!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Got this air conditioner for our family room. It says it is for an up to 450 square foot area, with 11,000 BTU. Its white color makes it blend in well into the background, and it runs pretty quietly. I really like that it has a remote control so that I can be chilling out on the sofa and not have to get up to adjust the settings or to turn it on and off. It also has smart features, so I can also control it from my smartphone, from anywhere. It comes with a washable air filter which is easy to get in and out, and the whole unit is even on wheels so it really is portable. There is an auto restart feature so that if there's a power outage, it will come back on at the same settings it powered off at ("power interruption restart"). The window venting kit is included, so you have everything you need to install it, and installation was quick and easy. I tried out the 3-in-1 features; namely, the fan, air conditioning/cooling, and dehumidifier features. They all worked well. I would recommend this for small to medium-sized rooms.
