Only lasted 3 years
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Unit worked fine for 3 years then just stopped working. Unplugging it and plugging it back in gets the fan to run but the compressor never turns on so it never dries the air. Junk not worth the price.

Thus the water does not get removed from the air. Very disappointed. GE won't do anything about it because it only has a one year warranty.

This summer it slowly became less efficient and by the end of the summer was not dehumidifying at all, though the fan ran and otherwise seemed normal. Bottom line is that this unit dies within two seasons of use.

I suspect the Freon leaked out. Unit is non repairable according to all the local appliances shops. Please do not waist your money on this.

All filters were cleaned, and connections check. It will run for 10 minutes and then shut off. Last year (same setup) it ran with no problems.

GE said it is not cost efficent to repair and gave me a $75 voucher for a new one. I did and it works well this year but hoping this one lasts more then 3 years.

Both units only lasted a few weeks. Best Buy was very accommodating and no problems with returning—just annoyed it keeps breaking

Seemed not to draw as much water this summer. By end of summer, no water even in a humid area. Appears to function but has lost its coolant. Don't expect this product to last past its one year warranty.

We know that would be frustrating after only a year, and it's certainly not the ownership experience we want you to have. The dehumidifier not drying the air as it should can be caused by various factors. You may want to check that nothing is restricting airflow to the unit (such as curtains or furniture) and the air filter is clean. Removing moisture from the air also works best at higher room temperatures; the unit may not work as well in a lower temperature space. Additional troubleshooting steps are available in the manual on page 9, if that may be helpful for you. Notice of your experience will also be sent to our Dehumidifier Design team for review; we appreciate you providing your insight, as we always want to be aware of any potential areas of concern.
