Customers frequently mention the excellent cooling performance of the 550 Sq. Ft. 12000 BTU Smart Window Air Conditioner, with many stating it effectively cools their entire space. The noise level is also appreciated, with users finding it to be very good. Set it up. It worked for a week then it started only blowing warm air. I delayed returning because I figured I could bring in the weekend. They don't except returns after 15 days. I got the run around at GE for the factory warranty that was worth nothing. Complete loss of money.

Didn't last. Poorly made. The control panel got water condensation and ended up short-circuiting the panel. Also, purchase the Best Buy warranty or else you'll deal with GE customer service.

Worst AC I’ve ever purchased. Never satisfies the thermostat. Mind you, this is for a room significantly smaller than it’s supposed to be capable of handling. Randomly shoots out ice pellets. I installed exactly as directed and have followed all instructions.

Thanks for reaching out. Ice on the indoor coils of an air conditioner can cause the appliance to stop cooling well. This may even cause the air conditioner to spit water or ice out of the front of the appliance. The main cause is a dirty filter or operating the unit when the outdoor temperature is below 70°F. If the temperature is close to 70° or you are unsure of the temperature, you can turn the thermostat to a warmer setting as well as set the fan switch to the highest position. This allows for better airflow across the coils. Switching the Fan speed to a lower setting for quieter operation but leaving the thermostat at a higher setting will result in not enough air flowing over the cooling coils and could result in ice on the coils. If you continue to have difficulty, you can review the terms of your warranty on page 17 of the Owner's Manual. The online manual is available by clicking on the Features tab and scrolling to the bottom of the Features list. -Vikki@GEAppliances

Not sure if we received a defective unit. But it made a high pitched screeching noise. Too bad, because it was keeping us cool, but the noise was too much.

We're sorry to hear you're having this issue with your air conditioner, especially so soon after purchase. We want to assist. We recommend disconnecting the air conditioner from power for a couple of minutes before reconnecting; this resets the electrical components and can often solve an issue. Troubleshooting tips for your model are available on page 13 of the manual; that can be viewed on our GE Appliances website when you look up the model number and go to the product's page. If you aren't able to address this with troubleshooting, information on taking advantage of the warranty is available on page 17 of the manual.

You will need to destroy the side curtains if you need to get them off... side curtains are 8 inch, frame is 10 inches. Curtains click into frame and do not come out. if you have a wide window, get you some cardboard. If you are putting it in a small window for life, you maybe good to go. Unit made some clacking noise for a while but settled down..

We'd like to assist with your window a/c not cooling enough. Please check the air filter to make sure that it's not dirty because this would effect the cooling performance. The filter needs to be cleaned at least every 30 days. If you need help locating the filter, please review the "Air Filter" section on pg. 7 of the Owner's Manual. The Owner's Manual can be found in the "Features" section on the product homepage on the Best Buy website. If this doesn't help, we recommend you review the tips in the "Air conditioner does not cool as it should" section on pg. 13 of the Owner's Manual.

Ice on the indoor coil can cause the unit to not cool properly and/or can cause water or ice bits to be spit into the room. On a new unit, a cool evening in which the outdoor temperature is below 70°F is the most likely cause. The best way to prevent ice from collecting on the coils is to not run the air conditioner when the outdoor temperature is below 70°F. If the temperature is close to 70° or you are unsure of the temperature, you can turn the thermostat to a warmer setting and switch the fan switch to the highest position. This allows for better airflow across the coils. -Vikki@GEAppliances

It was a 100 yesterday, My home ac decided it was going to call it quits. i knew, its time to replace my outside unit, so i needed a window unit. i ran to best buy to check out the deals. 12000 btu’s for mid 300s! im not going to lie, i was a bit nervous that this wasent going to do the job. 1300 sqft house and 9 foot ceilings. 70 degree front room! this unit is really awsome. the smart app was so simple and was a effortless set up… the unit even performed w update. Very happy with Customer service and my purchase!

I live in a 500 sq foot apartment that can get to 98 inside in the summer (and hovers around 89 into the night without an AC or fan blowing cooler air in from outside. I used an underpowered unit before and got by with fans, but this unit cools my whole place on its own. This AC is nice, modern, functional, although a bit noisier than I expected.

I bought this to help keep temperatures even and cool during a heat wave when my AC went out and have been using it for the past few weeks. I’m partial to GE appliances and was pleased that the smart setup through the app was simple and so was installation and use. I am incredibly surprised how well it cools the main floor of my house only supplemented with a few fans to move air around, though the unit is quite heavy to hoist around if you’re on the smaller stature side. Overall this is definitely a unit I suggest!

It's been a really good AC unit. My garage is right at 590 square ft, and it cools from 90° and high humidity, down to about 75° in an hour, and has no problem getting the garage down to 70° and maintaining it
