They measured from the edge, and the front door and dryer surface is bowed. I had to do major modifications to fit it into the closet I was using for a utility area.

I Have only had it for a week however I am pleased with the drying ability and I have always liked GE products for years

Posted .We are glad to hear you found the best dryer to fit your space. On this model the center of the knockout for the bottom vent access is approximately 4-1/2" from the rear panel of the dryer. We have a tight space so the vent connection need to be short for the dryer to fit into that space. I asked the installer to do that. He did not even try, just cut a long vent connector so that he can hook up the dryer then left the dryer outside of its designated space. When I said that is not acceptable and asked for a phone number to talk about what should be done, he lied and said someone would call me "five minutes" after he left. Of course, nobody did. I ended up going to Home Depot to get a new connector and redid everything myself. So the money paid to BestBuy for the service was just wasted. I would not recommend buying installation service from BestBuy.
