Customers frequently mention the double oven as a favorite feature, with many expressing their appreciation for its convenience. The ease of use and the range of features are also frequently praised. However, some users have noted issues with the timer's functionality and a gas smell emanating from the oven. These minor drawbacks appear to be outweighed by the positive experiences reported by most users.

I really enjoy my range. Super excited to have the middle oval burner and the ability to change from the griddle to a regular grate. It cooks well and I’m glad I thought to get the double oven!

Purchased such oven and it tripped my circuit breaker. Apparantly there was a faulty wire. Exchanged for second one, everything works great until 1 out 4 fire range failed to ignite. Had to call customer service which was forever wait and they recommend for another exchange or geek squad repair. Keep in mind that I had to connect the gas and disconnect which was a pain. We decided to give geek squad a try and if he couldnt fix the problem then the exchange process starts all over again. This oven is nothing but problems for me

I give it a solid 4.5 stars (that's not a choice so I rounded down to 4). I've wanted one of the GE center griddle gas ranges for years but settled on a another brand 12 years ago based solely on price. So, when it came time to replace I discovered GE is really the only one still with a built in griddle. The double oven is a bonus but does take some getting used to. This seems to be a new model (JGBS86SPSS) with few reviews at a lower starting price than the one that typically goes for $300 buck more but you don't really give up much. I tried to highlight some details I had a heck of time finding information about.
What is different in this cheaper version?
- The biggest burner is 15k instead of 18k, and the ovens are set up slightly different.
- The smaller oven in this version has a lower gas burner and an 'assist' electric 120v burner at the top and about 6.5 inches clearance with shelf in lower position, whereas the other model has the gas broiler burner in the top oven.
- The lower oven is the convection oven in both models. However, the gas broiler burner is in the lower oven in the reviewed model. There is about 11 inches of clearance with rack in lowest position; works with my huge cast aluminum roasting pot with lid.
- Entering Setup mode: Use BAKE & WARM buttons on upper oven pressed at the same time. The manual is completely wrong in this regard and I managed to 'guess' my way in.
Pros:
- the edge to edge burner grates are a huge upgrade over my old stove.
- Controls are very nice and I like the smaller control pad window over the full width 'profile' version
- Griddle is huge (it's cast aluminum with a non stick coating). A cast iron griddle accessory is available for extra money WB31X24998 / JXGRILL1 and it works fine with this model number even though it's not listed. I bought it and it's nice but has a con below. JXGRATE1 can be purchased for use instead of griddle
- Both ovens show the actual temperature climbing to set point; very nice.
- Separate controls and display areas for each oven.
- Full number keypad to directly enter temperatures
- Overall premium look and feel (a couple exceptions) noted in cons.
Cons (my cons are things that don't match the overall premium look and feel and seem like tiny cost savings that are readily apparent):
- Knobs are metal looking plastic. Directions specifically say do not soak them or put in dishwasher as the finish can peel off. Seems a little disappointing they can't be thrown in the dishwasher.
- Actual clearance height should be in specs for ovens rather that overall height. It's 6.5'' and 11'' for the record.
- I saw a lot of reviews about the models above this one that the volume of the Timer Beep and other chimes is laughably quiet even when set at High volume and I'm sad to report that hasn't been addressed in this model. It is almost useless though it can be heard while you're in the kitchen. To have 3 volume settings plus OFF, someone at GE seriously dropped the ball here for what is arguably a 50 cent fix. My old range I could hear from the 2nd floor when it reached temperature or the timer went off at the 'only' volume setting.
- Timer countdown is in WHOLE minutes until you reach 1:00 minute, then it counts down in seconds. Seems very odd that seconds aren't displayed for anything under 59 minutes. There are many times I've baked cookies for 9 minutes and 30 seconds. Even the cheapest digital timer or microwave displays seconds. My easy fix is using Alexa. This is a GE ball drop.
- The optional cast iron griddle WB31X24998 / JXGRILL1 doesn't have its own 'feet' so it rests on the outward grates and makes it impossible to quickly remove one grate for a quick clean. It's also very heavy.
- Something to be aware of: the lower, larger oven is at floor level and, with door open, reach and mobility could be an issue. Try it in the store first.
It appears my cons are long but really just wordy and things I discovered that seemed worth passing along. I'd buy it again and so far I'm quite pleased. Should that change, I'll update this review.

Love having two ovens to use at different temps! small upper oven is perfect for small meals for the two of us. Love the air fryer just wish it was in upper oven. will try convection next. the griddle is perfect and use it often, very heavy cast iron. everything is made sturdy and high quality. Finnish is very nice and easy to clean.

We have been pleased with the oven so far. I previously had a GE double oven and when it the ovens stared having problems I knew I wanted another double oven because we use them a lot. I was disappointed that it wasn’t available in white to match my other appliances so had to get the stainless steel. We have not used the convection setting yet but have used the air fryer which is handy if you are trying to air fry a lot at one time. It does make a loud “whooshing” noise when the gas kicks in which is suppose to be normal but takes some getting use to.

The first range I received had some problems. Most of it was due to the delivery/instillation service crew. Best Buy made things right and I received another one. The new crew hauled the old one and dropped the new range in my kitchen. I hooked up the second range. It is awesome! I don’t know how I ever lived without the option of two ovens. This is so convenient! Not having to warm up the convection oven before throwing in any frozen meal is also very convenient with two toddlers needing attention and supervision. The burners work very well. I have yet to use the griddle section of the range. I haven't cleaned the ovens. So, I can’t inform you about ease of cleaning.

This 30" oven has proven to be great. Temperature is spot on after testing with a thermometer. Easy to use. Bottom oven flexibility as an air fryer is super cool and easy even for teenagers. Griddle is surpisingly useful. Wasn't sure I would like it, but we have used it several times already. I have had it for a month and simply love it.

This replaced a nearly identical single oven version. I knew I would like the double ovens but it is way more useful than I thought. Both ovens are gas. Lower larger oven has the convection/ air fry/ gas broiler. Upper oven does not have those features but has a supplemental electric heating element in addition to the gas. For most items we use the top oven. Top oven heats really quickly, way faster than a regular full size oven, and while heat is not 100% totally even, it is pretty good considering the upper oven doesn't not have a fan. Air fryer in lower oven will not be anywhere near as quick as a real air fryer but lower oven works great as convection oven, regular oven, or broiler. Yeah, the lower oven is very low to the ground but in most cases we use the upper oven. Both ovens can be controlled independently and is easy to do so. Also all the grate accessories I had from old oven for the range, such as the griddle, are compatible since the range is identical in layout to my old one. Daughter loves to bake so the double oven is awesome. She can bake more items at once or if she is baking something we can cook dinner in the other oven. We also have family with different dietary requirements so having ability to bake totally separate things at different temps is very useful. So if you need a gas double oven with really easy controls and don't want the wifi and extra computer stuff that will break this is it.

I am very happy with my purchase of this new range. It has all the features I was looking for. Haven't used all those features yet, but very satisfied with basic cooking on the stovetop and baking in the smaller, upper oven. I specifically wanted the the double oven because the majority of my usage is in a smaller oven and not the bigger one. With my previous range, it always seemed like such a waste to use that big space for just a small casserole dish etc. This range also looks very nice and cleans up so easily.

We are really enjoying the stove. The double ovens have been great during the holiday season. It appears to be a quality made appliance. If I could suggest any improvement it would be for the timer to have a capability of timing more than 60 minutes. Very satisfied with purchase and top notch assistance from Best Buy.

It is a really good oven over all very pleased with my purchase. My only complaint is the grates are a little rough in texture, they are very hard to clean quickly. You can't just wipe them with a paper towel, it tears it up and leaves paper towel residual on them. You have to clean with soap and water and sponge or washcloth, and that also leaves little cloth pieces. Im having trouble cleaning it effectively. And when I google I dont see any good solutions for getting residue that inevitably ends up getting on them. Also the edges of the gas covers are incredibly rough, don't know if that is all of the ovens or if mine just had a manufacturing error. The flat top griddle in the middle is great for toasting bread and making pancakes. The air fryer option is fantastic. All the features work really well, oven cooks evenly and consistently.
