Got this because it was on sale and when we recieved it it came super damgaed! When talking to a rep they offered no good options to help with this, very frustrating. Wish we would have ordered somehwere else. When ordering an expensive item youd think theyd make sure to ship it properly.

Hi there, and thank you for taking the time to reach out to us. We hate to hear you are dissatisfied with the air conditioner, and would like to address your concerns. The unit is designed to fit into a standard double-hung window and has dimensions of 15 1/16" H x 20 3/16" W x 21 5/16" D. The height with both the unit and panels attached should be 15 5/8”, while the width can be adjusted to fit anything from 26 1/8” to 37 ¾”. The air conditioner can be installed without panels if needed to fit into a more narrow opening. Further information about the exact space requirements and installation instructions is available in the manual. The air conditioner itself has 14,000 BTUs of cooling power and is best fit for a room from 550 to 700 square feet. If your space is smaller than that, inconsistent cooling performance may result and could be causing the damp feeling you describe. If you are concerned there may be anything wrong with the unit itself, our service department is available at 1-800-432-2737. There is also information on page 17 regarding your limited warranty, if you think you may need to take advantage of that. We hope this information is useful for you, and are glad to assist with any other concerns or questions. Best wishes! -Sarah@GEA GE_Appliances

Hi there, we're very sorry to see your air conditioner stopped functioning properly after a few months and that it took longer than expected to have it serviced. Not as noisy as some reviews suggest

I read other reviews about the high noise level of this unit, but I was willing to live with that because my priority is cold air. This unit provides more than sufficient cooling power even for a space larger than what it’s rated for. I have zero complaints, even the WiFi setup is easy. However, I did measure the noise level and used a 7 year old 5050btu GE as a comparison. Both units were on max cold and the highest fan setting. The old 5050btu unit measured a max of 67 decibels, and this 14,000btu measured a max of 71 decibels. The first thing I noticed after I installed the unit was actually how quiet it is considering the size of it. It might be loud if you aren’t used to window units, but for what it is it’s relatively quiet. To reduce noise, the manual suggests removing the rubber drain plug from the pan. That will lower the water level to where the fan does not pick water up to sling on the condenser. That does not result in a measurable decrease in noise. The sound of water droplets hitting a fan blade is hardly noticeable, and I recommend leaving that plug in to increase cooling and energy efficiency. I did not give 5 stars because the window gap solution they include it just terrible. It hasn’t improved or changed in design for 20 years, the accordion plastic curtain is an out dated design that’s unsafe and lowers the overall efficiency of your house. I ended up cutting pieces of wood to perfectly fill the gaps, and sit inside the window channel. Sealed with duct tape and covered with insulation board. It’s not as pretty, but functionally it’s a better solution. GE does provide roughly 3 cents worth of foam to seal your unit. You’ll need more if you’re particular about efficiency.

Most pleased with this GE air conditioner. The 14,000 BTU units I have had in the past were larger and heavier, requiring installing the shell with bracing before inserting the actual air conditioner guts and finishing by affixing the grill. This GE unit was not too heavy and installed as easily as a smaller 5,000 BTU machine. Further, once set you can leave it be and it operates flawlessly, keeping your home cool. Sweet unit and it looks good, too. Peace.

It’s very easy to install. It’s old school big because of the higher BTU but it covers more square footage. It cools the apartment pretty quickly. It’s not quiet but again, it’s because of the higher BTU. The controls are super simple and I like that. I like GE so i hope to have this a long time.

I purchased this because it is one of the highest BTU you can get that still uses a standard 120v plug. Anything higher usually requires a 240v plug. I have a 1500 sq foot house. I used to have two 8000 BTU AC's in two different windows to keep the downstairs cool. Even that could result in it struggling on very hot days. This one unit keeps it very cool and doesn't struggle to do it. You can optionally use an app from the manufacturer to turn on/off, adjust temperature, fan speed, etc. It also displays a graph to show how much electricity (KWPH) it uses daily and monthly.

I've only had this unit installed a little over a week now but so far it's working great. The only thing I haven't figured out yet is the ability to use the phone app to control it if my phone isn't connected to my home network. That wasn't something I was really that intersted in so not a big deal to me. This unit is going to save me a lot of money as the old one it replaced was failing and runnign 24x7. Having this unit keeping the rest of the house cool has also helped my old smaller unit in my bedroom running in the energy saver mode something it couldn't do with how the old big unit was not keeping the house cool. Oh I was considering buying a similar size unit from some place else but I had $235 in Best Buy Rewards points that I used to help make the unit more affordable.

This unit was purchased to replace an older window unit that was not performing well in its old age. This unit consumes similar energy demand to the (12,000 BTU) unit we replaced due to its higher efficiency, and cools the room much more effectively due to the capacity increase. The AC was relatively easy to install, and the controls are very easy to use. Being able to control the unit through an app on your phone is a fantastic feature! We utilize this the most when away from the house all day on a hot day.... you can turn the unit on ~30 minutes before you arrive home, and you get the benefit of coming home to a comfortable space without having to leave the AC on all day when no one is home.

This thing is great. After spending the same money on stand up, portable A/Cs that only lasted 2 years on average, this thing gets the main floor like an ice box. We’ve only had it a month but it works great, is a bit loud (but I’d rather deal with loud than 90s inside my house) and it has great features. I love being able to control it from away from home (which A smart home device is new for us). I agree with other reviews, the entire thing is top notch except the deflectors to angle the air. They’re super cheap compared to the rest of the model. We don’t move the deflectors once set so it isn’t a problem for us. But I’d you have younger kids, I can see a child easily breaking the deflectors or ripping them out completely with minimal effort.

Purchased this GE 14K BTU window AC on Labor Day weekend bec. our GE 8K btu broke after 7 years. This is far less noisy and quickly cooled down our fairly large living room. We like the smart feature. Best of all, we paid $389.99 from an MSRP of $520 as it was on sale that weekend. Cons: heavy ( need to buy a heavy duty window support) and it can only go as low as 64 F.

Heavy and not recommended for a none permanent spot BUT, works amazingly. Cools the entire downstairs of our 2000sf home. It was stressful hooking it up alone, but in the end totally worth it. It was somewhat difficult to hook up to the app because the app name in the directions is not correct but with a little google search I was able to figure it out. Even with the stress and confusion, I am happy I purchased this and would def recommend to others. Just remember, it is very heavy!

I've been using this unit for about a month now to cool a ~600 square foot area and it has done well even as temperatures reached into the mid 90s outside. I was weary of going GE again as I had bought one from Lowes last year only to immediately have motherboard issues which rendered that unit useless. Luckily, I found this different model to try out with their warranty and it has been running strong. I have not used any of the wifi features. I would say it's moderately noisy; not super soft but not unbearably loud.

The central A/C in my house broke during a major heat wave and I was told it couldn’t be replaced for almost 8 weeks. Hence, I decided to purchase 2 GE window units. Best decision ever. They work so well and cooled down my entire house. Easy to install and energy efficient. My only issue was that the accordion things on the side were not big enough to close the gap on one of my windows. Other than that, I would highly recommend.

It worked great, our house AC went out, and it was going to be out for about 5 days. I live in Texas and this was July, with 100 degree plus temps. It 8s advertised for 700 sqft, but it had no issues cooling down roughly 1200 sqft. It maintained the temp at 72 while it was over 100 outside. It was also super easy to install it. Only complaint, would be a minor one, and that is that it is a little loud. Would recommend it if you need a good window AC unit

Quickly cools the entire main floor of our home without any issues. The app is easy to use and works perfectly for all our needs - even moreso now that we purchased another of these for the 2nd floor! These replaced some very old, struggling hand me down units and has made a world of difference, including our electric bill (the first unit we bought last year). It also has a much more visually appealing design than most units I researched.

Powerful - cools the entire room down in a few minutes. Filtered out the smokey CA. air from the fires. Very efficient Economy setting kept the temp constant. Easy to install with good step by step instructions. Well made, definitely a next generation design. Sat on the window sill without rocking - balanced for the job making installation easier. It's not light in weight but lighter than some of the old style Window A/C of bought in the pasts. Water drain system works great! Highly recommend this unit. Going to purchase another on for my man cave.

So we love the unit and it cools amazingly. However the first unit we bought worked one week and then just stoped. Wouldn’t stay on. Wasn’t the rest or breaker it wasn’t explainable. However, BEST BUY was amazing and exchanged it (during the pandemic) within an hour and new one is working as it should. So far.
