It's very quick to cool down after hooking it up for the first time. The sliding shelves feel solid, and you can purchase extras from GE. I do wish they were a bit deeper / wider. My only real complaint with this unit is the noise. Consumer Reports gave it a 3/5 for noise and I can see why, the compressor is noisy under load. If this going in a garage or away from your general living area that won't be a problem.
