The griddle rests on top of the adjoining grates, so you have to move it anytime you need to move a small grate. This one stands alone.

It allows you to use the stove to its fullest extent when using a larger pot. The griddle that comes with the stove is fine, but it's a textured aluminum and metal utensils may scratch it. It should be offered as a standard item, as we use a cast iron griddle instead of it.

This works wonderfully! I like that I can easily turn my center skillet into a regular burner. I highly recommend this GE center grate!
