Posted .HI - Oh no! This is not the consumer experience we would expect to hear and truly are sorry for the issues you have experienced with your new GE coffeemaker. We can understand your frustration. You're ready to drink a cup of coffee only to find the carafe filled with grounds. We do sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this has caused you. There are three scenarios that could cause the issue you're having. 1) Your coffee maker comes with a gold mesh basket filter in the brew basket insert. You can use a No. 4 paper filter instead, but using both the mesh filter and a paper filter will cause grounds to overflow into the basket insert or could splash coffee grinds and residue on the underside of the lid. 2) We recommend using a medium-grind coffee, when possible. A finer grind is more likely to lead to an overflow of coffee grounds. 3) We also recommend using the scoop that comes with your coffee maker, and use a flush level of grounds. Heaping scoops can lead to too much coffee grounds and can potentially cause overflows. If these suggestions do not resolve the issue you're having please refer to Page 9 of your Owner's Manual for your warranty details. We do hope this helps. Vikki@GEA

GE coffee maker
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall this is a good coffee maker but it’s hard to fill with water. The lid hinges right where the water goes in so it’s hard to use the pot to fill the reservoir.

Coffee maker
||Posted . Owned for 5 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It is a pain to clean the basket of the coffee grind and I heard coffee ground in the sink will in the long run clog the pipes.

Looks good, makes good coffee, good basic unit.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A coffeemaker is a coffeemaker is a coffeemaker. In all honesty there are no standout points to recommend this unit over any other when it comes to making coffee. This is not intended as criticism but as praise. If what you need is a coffeemaker that does its job well and reliably and consistently with a touch of convenience then this fills the bill very nicely. The built-in clock and timer that can be set to begin brewing is very convenient. The better half doesn't start her day without 2-3 cups and having a pot ready when we roll out of bed is great. The only downside to the unit is that the water reservoir can be awkward to fill due to the small refill openings on either side of the coffee holder which, by the way, comes with a stainless steel removable basket [as well as the holder being removable] that makes clean up easy and quick. Sometimes average is all one really needs. We don't need bells and whistles if all we want is a good hot cup of java. We like average just fine.

Good Basic Drip Coffee Maker
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This coffee maker is straightforward and simple. It doesn't try to do too much with the controls scheme, anyone should be able to operate this unit with very little trial and error. It is a drip machine, so it will not get that heartily rich flavor from your grind even on BOLD setting that you will get from a more complicated machine. PROS: No confusing controls, simple timer. Nice metal mesh filter. Easy to clean because mesh is just big enough to get a toothbrush bristles in there to clear out oils. Surface of machine is very easy to wipe off, open areas compared to more complicated machines, not many nooks and crannies. CONS: Hard to use the carafe to add water to machine. So, you might have to add water to the carafe then back into an easier to pour cup to get the right amount of water into machine. Carafe has lid you have to put on, and it has these little notches, that have to be aligned just right or won't fit right/ might leak. I would recommend this for those looking for a standard coffee maker for general use.

Great coffee maker
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I asked my husband to critique the GE Drip Coffee Maker since he's the coffee drinker. His old one is a different brand but very similar, so it was a good comparison. The GE is slightly simpler to operate. He just has to push bold and brew. The biggest plus is the temperature of the coffee. He likes it boiling hot. The old coffee maker continues to heat the coffee after it is done brewing, so that it’s at its hottest about 30 minutes after brewed. The GE heating element starts heating the pot immediately and the coffee is noticeably hotter when the first cup is poured. It keeps the coffee hot for 2 hours. I don’t think the GE coffee maker has a “sneak a cup” option like his old one, but it’s not important since my husband starts the pot when he wakes up and by the time he’s dressed the pot is ready. As with many products manufactured outside the US, the instructions aren’t written in perfect English so they are a little hard to follow at times. One section says that after 80 cycles, CLEANING will show on the LCD display as a reminder to clean. Pressing the BREW key for 3 seconds activates the heating element and starts the cleaning/descaling cycle. Another section under “mineral deposits” talks about filling the tank with water and a descaler and brewing the solution. They sound like two different functions but not sure. The only thing I would add to the appliance is an indicator that the BOLD button has been engaged – like maybe a backlight.

Who says quality has to be a million bucks
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I believe that the absolute best coffee makers in the world are those that have all the necessary features. Take nothing away from the pods that are going around these days but the classics are all you truly need. This GE coffee maker has a great filter system comes with easy to start and make coffee instructions as a nice hot plate to keep the coffee warm in the morning, or in the evening if you're working late. Definitely see about picking one of these up. Plus it goes with my other appliances so it's also aesthetically pleasing. Everything you need all in one and it doesn't cost a billion dollars. In the title I know I said a million dollars but from a million to a billion, isn't that how some of these ridiculous unnecessary coffee makers feel like they go up and cost? Who needs that when you going to have the best for a whole lot less.
