Does it's job perfectly, a little loud

This electric kettle is very straight forward. You add water, close the lid, place on it's base, and push down the power button/lever. A few minutes later you have boiling hot water. It does this very well.
Now some details. The container takes only a few minutes, less than 5, to get the water boiling hot. This depends on how much you fill it, but I used it to the max fill line. While it is heating the water it gets fairly loud. It sounds like a dishwasher while it is running. This is not a big deal and I do not know if this is typical as this is my first electric kettle. It does not really bother me, just thought I should mention.
This kettle claims to be "cool touch" and this is partially true. The outside of the container gets very warm if not hot. I thought it was ok to touch but my teenage daughter claimed it was too hot for her. My hands are a little more callus so I believe your experience with the heat may vary.
The cord stores underneath the base so this is very convenient. The power lever light up when heating and shuts off and pops up when it is done. I love the straight forward design and I found it very easy to use out of the box.
Overall I really love this kettle as I used it on the weekend and will use every weekend to make my French press for my wife and me. My kids use it for a heating pouch. We will use it for Ramen and anything else that requires boiling hot water. I highly recommend.

PERFECT Kettle for Ramen, Oatmeal, Hot Cocoa, Teas

Sleek Stainless design, with a corded base - NO cord on the kettle, so nice.
Fill with water, push the lever and in minutes you have boiling water without digging through the cabinets for a clean pot and then worrying about it boiling all over that fancy glass top stove the wife HAD to have.
I used it tonight while making risotto, and while I can’t credit the kettle - it was such an awesome device to have the chicken stock going on the side in the kettle hot/constant temp, thanks to the double walled lining - where I was able to ladle in a cupful of broth at a time as needed while stirring the arribo rice/risotto in a pan.
I know most chefs use another pot for this, but the kettle was awesome. It works great for ramen noodles and hot cocoa on the chilly winter nights!
This reminds me of a rice cooker I just bought. I have all kinds of techy gadgets - but the between this kettle and the rice cooker I have told more people about them than any "tech" toy I have got in the last 6 months.
The simple things rule sometimes!

I’ve had an electric kettle I got off Amazon years ago that has lost some functionality such as the auto shut-off. I love these electric kettles because they boil water quickly and make for easier use to make teas and hot beverages.
This includes the stainless steel kettle, lid, and electric base. The lid is great because it has a pop up handle that can be depressed during boiling.
My favorite thing about this is being able to cook hard boiled eggs without the stove. My fire alarm frequently goes off from steam or smoke from food residue on my stove. This give me an option to boil my eggs and allow them to set so much easier than the stove option. I also make iced tea frequently, so this is a huge time saver for me.

Sometimes simple is better, and that's definitely the case with this electric kettle. There aren't any bells or whistles-- just a base and one button to boil water. It boils a full kettle in around four minutes, and the double walled construction keeps the water hot for almost two hours. The outside gets pretty warm, but not hot enough to burn. The stainless steel doesn't attract fingerprints and looks nice on my counter. It feel sturdy and well-made-- definitely a step up from my old plastic kettle.

The GE - Electric Kettle with Mechanical Control - Brushed Stainless Steel is another excellent product from GE's relaunch of their home appliance lines. It offers a stylish look for everyday use and designed to find a permanent home on your countertops without taking up too much space or detracting from your kitchen. Offering hot waters in under 3 minutes (we found it to be faster than that), it is ready for your coffee, tea, or soups in a moment's notice.
We found this unit to be perfect for my wife who prefers drip coffee, with out the coffee pot. By the time she is done prepping her coffee filter and carafe, her water is hot and ready to go. I drink tea and this is perfect for a cup anytime and works well with bagged or loose-leaf.
GE is back in the small appliance market and ready to play ball with the big boys!
PROS
- GE hits it out of the park again with this product design
- Look and construction are premium
- Easy to use, set up
- Minimal footprint allows for positioning anywhere in your kitchen or even office
- Fast water heating, maintains temperature for long periods
CONS
- NONE!
This is a must-have for tea drinkers!

Really Nice Electric Kettle

So I have always used electric kettles since my mom had one years ago. It was super easy to use, heated water quickly and didn’t involve using the stove which I always felt took longer to heat half the amount of water that the electric kettles usually hold.
So I opted for the mechanical version of this kettle and it’s really simple to use. You fill it with water (at least 2 cups) and push down on the lever and boom within a minute or two your water comes to a boil and the lever pops back up to let you know that your water is ready to use.
So far it’s worked flawlessly and I really have to give praise to the design and overall build quality. It feels solid when you pick it up and has a really nice pop up lid and the spout even pours nicer than you would think.
Okay so if your thinking about getting yourself or someone you know an electric kettle I say def give this a try!

This is one of those devices that fits the category of “I didn’t know I needed this until I got it.” We’ve had a regular old tea kettle forever. It works just fine. Gets used almost daily and why would it need replacing? Wellll... because it gets dangerously hot and stays dangerously hot, requiring the use of an oven mitt to pour your water. Because the little flap sometimes closes itself mid-pour, spilling water. Because it needs the use of a stove, which means I have to remember to make sure to turn off the stove. And because that age old design is efficient, but makes it ever so slightly awkward to both fill with water and pour the water. Enter the GE kettle.
Really, all you need to know is that if you put water in this, plug it in, and wait a few minutes, it will do exactly what you purchased it to do in a very effective and satisfying manner. It turns itself off. It doesn’t beep or whistle or make any annoying noises. It doesn’t have a screen or buttons that will malfunction over time. The carafe is insulated well enough that it keeps water very warm for many, many minutes after it’s boiled. But the carafe itself is not at all dangerously hot to touch and lift! It’s darn near spill-proof. It will likely heat your water quicker than using an elective stove. It has easy-to-read “Min” and “Max” markers on the inside. And that’s pretty much it.
I don’t really know how this kettle could be improved. If you drink tea daily, it’s a no-brainer.

It has one button to make it function

So, depending on what you want this might be the perfect device. I’ve seen several kettles with digital readings for the temperature of the water and keep warm functions and all of that jazz. This isn’t what I look for in a kettle, I love being able to pour water in, hit a button, and a few min later get hot water for my americano, tea, or cider. I don’t care what the temperature is and so on. If this describes you, this is a nice kettle, with the benefit that is insolated, and the water stays hot for a decent amount of time. It has cable management and overall looks nice sitting on the counter. Everything I want in a Kettle. This is a pretty simple review, but it is a pretty simple device, and it doesn’t try to be anything other than that which I love. My favorite feature is that it has one button to make it function.

Fast Hot Water

Fill your water (to the very clearly labeled fill line), plug it in, turn it on, and BAM you have hot water. I use it primarily for hot tea, but I have a few relatives who visit who want coffee. What a quick and easy way to make hot water for all your needs. It has a great finish and look, fits in nicely with the rest of the stainless steel appliances in my kitchen.
I sort of wish this one also had a specific temp control as some of the teas I drink are specific about the water temp. But honestly this is as easy as it gets as heating water. This will be in my kitchen for a long time to come and my family are already asking about it as I am sure more of them will be buying their own in the future for their homes.

Never realized how good having an electric kettle could be, I've used it for tea, hot cocoa, instant soups, noodles and bouillon.
It keeps water hot a long time, at least 2 hours.
The auto off feature is nice. As soon as it boils, it shuts off. Doesn't take much longer than heating water in a microwave. It may be my imagination, but I think it makes a better cup of tea than microwaved water. Super convenient. Easy cleanup (You should really only have water in it)
The best part? It comes off the base, so no dealing with a cord attached to the actual pot. Would for sure recommend!

I love hot tea and this kettle makes it so easy!. Fill, push one button and it takes no time to heat the water perfectly. Once it heats up it shuts off. Water stays warm for that 2nd cup of hot tea. This kettle will be perfect for anything that you need hot water for:cocoa, tea, ramen, instant coffee etc, especially if you're in an office setting. Keep it at your desk and have your tea at any moment. It's beautiful with it's stainless steel surface. I have no complaints whatsoever with this product! So glad to have it.

This kettle is great!! It warms up faster than Keurig, and produces a much hotter product. We've used this daily and have no complaints what so ever. It also keeps the water hot for a great period of time, and if it cools down, push the button and wait less than a minute and you have hot water.

Good but some odd design choices

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
This GE Electrical Kettle is good, but there are some odd design choices that make me reluctant to give it 4 or 5 stars. It's a great kettle in terms of it boils water and the double-wall design helps it retain heat post-boil. It also boils fast. The odd design choices are it's very tall (~10.5") on the base and looks too tall like it might fall over. It won't, it's just a weird design choice. The lid is a lift-off, not flick up. Not a deal-breaker, just makes it less convenient. The spout is wide, super wide like I have never seen spout this wide (almost 3"). Finally, there's no transparency window so you can see how full the kettle. Overall, good kettle, and the stainless steel design is nice, the auto shut off is great, but the weird design choices make it fall short of being perfect. Nice addition to the house and GE quality but not perfection. If you pay a few dollars more you can get the next model up which has enough bells and whistles to overcompensate for the limitations (smart temperature control, etc).

Heats water to boiling quickly. Do wish it had a window to see the water level from the outside.
