We were using this item this morning to fry eggs. After cooking, I removed the pan from the stove and walked away. I heard a "pop" and noticed that the cooktop had cracked in half. When I called GE, the rep was rude and immediately indicated that it will likely not be covered by the one-year warranty. For example, if there is any "spillage" - this is not covered. Again, I was cooking eggs and there was not spillage.
