However upon reading how much maintenance and care this unit requires, I just realized this is NOT a good fit for me, I am not this kind of person. I like to plug and forget it. That's who I am.

Nugget ice makers do require periodic cleaning and care to keep the ice fresh and the unit performing at its best, with sanitizing recommended weekly and descaling every few weeks depending on water hardness. The issues came later when mold started forming on the unit. Of course it being glossy black it wasn’t noticeable until it was too late. Best Buy’s new Total Tech replacement / refund is a joke now. $360 refunded for a $510.00 unit. So if you’re on the fence for total tech, think about what replacement or refund really means to you.
