The ice is perfect — soft, chewable, and makes every drink taste better. It produces ice quickly and keeps up well with daily use. The only downside is the cleaning process. The cleaning cycle doesn’t really seem to do much, and it still requires a lot of manual scrubbing to keep it fresh. Overall though, the ice quality makes it worth it, I just wish the cleaning was easier.

We can fill our thermoses every morning and the ice lasts long into the afternoon, with some of it never melting if your cup or thermos is insulated. We thought it was too expensive when we saw the price, but we wouldn't change a thing now! It stays much colder than regular ice cubes. :)

Been needing to purchase one after my last one had issues. But really at the time didn't want to spend the money. I had a Theryne ice machine that had metal pieces broken off in the ice and leaking everywhere. Company replace it with the same machine. Six months later it did it again. And the company wouldn't honor the warranty anymore. So I did without until I couldn't stand doing without my ice. So I bit the bullet and got the new machine. So far no issues. Best Buy said if I had any issues bring it back because I am a total tech member and have been for years. That is why I love Best Buy and purchased all my stuff from them.

Posted .We'd like to share information about the sounds and ice melting. The Opal is a complex device with numerous components, so it can be normal to notice different sounds. You can view a list of normal sounds by checking our article titled "Opal Ice Maker - Normal Sounds" on our GE Appliances website. This icemaker does not have active refrigeration, so it can be normal to notice the ice melt. However, the melted ice will recirculate into the water reservoir and be turned into new ice.
