This was a replacement for an Opal bought in 2020, and so far, it seems to have been improved over the earlier model. This one has been much quieter and replaces ice at a faster rate than the original one. We live in a hard water area, and I notice the instructions have been rewritten to emphasize the importance of de-scaling the icemaker regularly. I do think that de-scaling every three weeks it critical to keeping the ice maker operating. Our family of four really enjoys the ice that this machine produces.

This is the best ice. This is my third machine. It only last about a year which is really annoying.

Ice maker works great! Having the big water reservoir is a must. Ice cubes are on the smaller size and are perfect for scooping into water jugs or just glasses.

My wife loves this machine! If you’re looking for the “GOOD ICE” then this is what you want. Just like Sonic / Zaby’s ice!

Having moved to a very hot desert area I had to have this ice maker. It works well, but I notice that because of the desert weather it does not freeze the nuggets as well as it might if it were in a cabinet or cooler environment. The ice comes out shaved and not necessarily nuggets. All in all, I am very happy with this ice maker. It does make ice within 20m minutes.

Best ice ever! Not happy that the shipping was pushed back three times, but that's what you get with free shipping. Instructions were very easy for setup, & wifi connection was a breeze. Tastes just like the "sonic" ice that everyone knows is the best ice!

Best nugget ice machine out there. Definitely recommend. Make sure you keep up with the maintenance.

Ice machine in fridge broke and this was worth every penny. Perfect for getting ice into bottles and EVERYONE loves nugget ice!

I love this ice maker! It's easy to use and clean. The ice is very good. However, it takes 3 hours to make 3 lbs of ice, and it's a little pricey.

Amazing machine. We have had it over a month and are obsessed. Works perfect and is so quiet! I will say if you have the extra to spend to just get the side tank. We have to add water daily because we use the ice like crazy. I do wish the ice bin was bigger, but as long as you keep water in it it refills pretty quick!

My whole family loves this machine! My wife has been walking around with a cup of ice since the day we got it! The ice nuggets it produces are awesome and nothing else you can make at home competes with it. It makes drinks really cold and also works great for iced coffee. Pros - Ice nuggets are awesome. It will make you an ice snob. - Feels solid. Stainless steel. Sleek design. Led light for ice bin makes seeing the level easy and looks great. - Easy to use. Controls are straight forward. Status is displayed clearly on the front panel. - The iPhone app and Wi-Fi connections work great. Even when you are away you can easily turn it off and on, set up a schedule for making ice later, adjust the ice bin light and see the status (off, add water, ice bin full, making ice). I do wish it would warn me when it needs more water, but it is not a big issue. - Fits nicely on my counter, no issue clearing the upper cabinets (with 1.5 inches to spare) and it is exactly the same width as my 4-slice toaster. - Easily makes enough ice to keep up with my family of five. The 1lb of ice per hour in the specs seems spot on. - Includes an ice scoop and a removable drip tray. - Does not require a water connection. Giving you more choices on where you locate it and what water goes into it. Things to Consider - When making ice there is a low whirring noise. It is not loud but is noticeable in a quiet room. - The water reservoir is below the ice bucket - meaning you must remove it to add more water. We like the thinner profile, but we love this machine so much we are wondering if we should have gotten the one with the side tank! - The Wi-Fi setup is not in the instructions - you download the app and it guides you thru the process. Tip : To set up Wi-Fi you need the ID and password on the back of the machine (I didn't realize that until I had slid it in to place). - While the machine is considered "portable", because it does not require a water connection - it weighs just under 39lbs empty and has no handles. I recommend locating it near a sink or drain. The manual recommends cleaning the internals once a week with a bleach/water mixture and as part of this procedure you must fill/drain the machine 3 times. It also recommends draining it when you do not intend to use it for a few days.

We love it! We love Sonic ice and this delivers. So far so good.

This may cost more than mot. But definitely worth the money. I originally bought it without the side tank. Once everyone discovered what they call the good ice. I realized I needed the side tank. So i ordered it from G.E. I bought 2 cheaper brands they quit working just outside of their warranty. I highly recommend this unit.

I was never really an ice fan until I got this unit!! Every drink has ice nuggets in it. I bought it bcuz my fridge ice taste terrible & ruined my drinks, this has been a life saver! I heard it make a noise once, hasn't dont it again. Ive had it less than a month & have had to clean it already. I only use bottled water in the unit. WiFi enabling is cool! It is kinda big, just make sure you have the room for it. My husband loves it as well. I make lots of ice & then freeze it.

We love our ice maker minus the loud noise. How can we take that noise away!!!

I love the app option that allows you to schedule when its on and off. The tilt down tray is also a must and the ice is amazing.

If you want nugget ice, this is the portable ice maker for you! Built in WiFi makes it easy to activate on the go or to schedule fresh ice. I would deduct ½ star for the plastic drip tray when the rest of the the design details are classy and of excellent construction.
