I bought this based on a recommendation from my stepdaughter and have loved it. It is pricey buy the crushed ice it produces is a nice addition to any drink. It makes ice quickly, within an hour you will have a pound of crushed ice, and keeps the supply full. I also find the Wi-Fi programming is easy and accurate. Occasionally it does make a grinding sound but it is brief and generally the machine is quiet. The only hassle is it requires draining and descaling weekly but it is more a time issue than difficult.

I purchased this ice maker after owning the earlier generation for several years. My original unit is performing as it did new and will be used in another location. The features are similar to the original with the addition of wi-fi connectivity. The rounded edges give it more modern look over the original as well. The ice production is perfect and handles our families ice needs easily. Overall I’m very happy with my purchase.

I bought this machine over less expensive ice makers because I hoped spending a little more would get my wife the soft ice she loves. Is it worth it? Probably not. We debated returning it, but eventually decided to keep it. The ice is not like sonic ice... it's good, but it's still harder unless you let the ice sit in your drink and melt a little. Don't get me wrong, the machine seems to be well made. It does its job and it's an improvement from our ice dispenser in our fridge, but still not what we'd hoped. When you factor in that you have to manually fill it frequently (ours approximately every other day) I probably wouldn't buy it again. I would probably try a less expensive ice maker to see if I could get similar results while saving a few bucks.

The buttons are easy to accidentally push and turn off the machine. It can be loud at times. Sometimes I wish I would have paid extra to get the one with a side tank… but it’s also nice to have something a bit smaller. It surprising that it already needs to be cleaned after a few weeks.

I purchased this for the ease and functionality. The ice maker in my Samsung would always get clogged and the filter would leave a white residue. Did not look appealing. With this machine I am able to create schedules to turn on and off. I have it set to turn on before we get up so everyone can make the it water flasks for the day. It will shuts off on scheduled time. It stops making ice if the bin is full, it will alert you if more water is needed. I have it set again before we get home so there is ice for around dinner time. Weekends have their own schedule as well. Remember to add enough water before bed if you are running a schedule. Easily connected through WiFi and the app is very easy to use. I use distilled water to minimize the amount of minerals running through the filters. Clean the machine at least weekly to maintain your investment. Directions come with the manual l, very easy to do! The machine itself is very quiet. No grinding noises like previous reviews. It is kind of heavy so maneuvering could get difficult if you have a hard time with heavy objects. Place in an area with space, the fans do get warm but expected.

Love this ice maker. It is truly the best one out there. It’s easy to clean and use. I love the ice size that it produces. It’s a little loud but nothing that someone can’t manage.

I’ve had this machine for a little over a month now and I have to say it’s been the best one I’ve had. It’s easy to set up, quick to start making ice and it holds over a good amount of ice. It did start to make a slightly odd noise about a month in but running the cleaning and descaling cycle corrected the issue.

The Opal 2.0 has so far been a great machine. It makes the great crunchy ice that you get from some fast-food restaurants. Set-up was fairly simple. Slimmer then I expected (which is good for counter space). The instructions were clear on how to clean the unit. Took a few minutes to run. Connecting the ice maker to WiFi and the SmartHQ app was easy as well. It uses the same app that my GE appliances are connected to so everything is in one place. Now for the ice making. It's awesome. For parties, this will work out perfect. After filling up the water reservoir, ice will start popping out after maybe 30 minutes. But to fill the entire ice tray you'll need to wait a few hours. Luckily you can start making ice through the app and even schedule it to start at a certain time. I'm extremely happy with it. If you crave the crunchy nugget ice, the Opal 2.0 makes it with no problems. The quality seems great and I hope it'll last for years.

I have had my GE Profile Opal 2.0 | Countertop Nugget Ice Maker for a few years now and it is one of the best investments for my household. The ice comes out perfect its easy to refill the water tank and easy to clean. It makes ice very quick anytime any takes ice it starts making new ice immediately and as the old ice melts it goes back into the tank to be made into ice agian 10/10 would buy agian

I love this ice machine! After a year and past the 1 year warranty it is now making loud screeching noises. So bummed. Buy the 2 year warranty because now Im stuck with an ice maker that makes ice but extremely loud screeching noises!

Item arrived with damaged packaging. There are two spots on top of item which could be a defect. Item took a few minutes to start the cleaning process and clear air out of tubes, but it has been working correctly for the past four weeks of ownership. Makes a slight noise from vibration.

Love this little ice maker! I previously had a full size nugget ice maker that was nothing but trouble. But this little guy just runs. We use it daily. The only complaint I have about it is the noise. Sometimes it will just make a load squealing noise that sounds like the belts of a car. This happens about every 2 or 3 days and is very annoying. So make sure you don’t put this somewhere where the noise will be upsetting. The ice is great. Plenty of ice for 2 or 3 people to get what they need.

This ice maker is great but it’s not super quiet. My whole family loves the nugget ice that’s produced. We’ve enjoyed this ice maker for 2 years and it’s still running pretty good. We make sure we use filtered water and use the cleaning cycle regularly. I’ll definitely buy another one of these if/when we need to.

We love our Opal ice maker. We use it constantly. I am not sure how much ice it will make in one day, but we never run out. Despite multiple members of the house having iced drinks, sodas, water bottles, and whatever else. Others have complained that theirs didn't last. This is my second unit. The first lasted 4 years. I may have got lucky. I only cleaned it every few months. I only upgraded to this one because it was on sale and I gave the old one to a friend of mine. He completely took the machine apart and cleaned out all the scale and it still works great.

I love This ice maker! The ice is fantastic. So crunchable. Cleaning is a breeze too. It’s not as noisy as I thought it might be and it doesn’t run all the time. Super easy to set up.

Very sleek, easy to setup, and quality made machine. It makes perfect “nugget ice” very quickly. I’d opt for the additional tank to make refill easier.

Love this ice machine! I don’t really use the wifi capabilities but other than that it’s a must have. If you’re on the fence and can find it on sale or this is in your price range, grab it! Totally worth it. It makes the perfect ice! Compared to other ice makers the noise really isn’t that bad. Obviously it’s going to make some noises and isn’t anywhere near as loud as Keurig or coffee maker.
