Definitely an upgrade over the opal 1.0. This makes perfect nugget ice, and I love how simple it is to clean. We don’t have the side tank with ours, but will be getting it, and if you’re reading this and not sure whether or not you need it, chances are you do.

Wifey Loves it! She’s the type of person who loves to just chew on ice all the time but prefers the nugget chick-fil-a ice, so I gufted this for her! Family loves it also instead of having to go buy ice bags from the store and take up all the space in the freezer. Amazing purchase, Saves you money in the end, as well as space in the freezer! Can’t complain!

I love the ice this machine makes. Nugget ice is amazing! I haven't found it it to be too noisy which I've seen several comments about. I see the new upgrades with scoop storage and wish I had that. Lol

hands down the best nugget icemaker out there. wanted a nugget icemaker for a while now. had to go to sonic to get bags of their ice atleast twice a week. now i have my own. when it went on sale for black friday, i knew i just had to get it. makes ice quick and so delicious. this ice is addictive. i make enough to fill my refrigerator ice dispenser tray then i turn it off. i make ice every other day. best purchase ever. i did get the extended warranty from bestbuy since its an appliance and might need service in a couple of years.

Great Ice! did not know that it did not have the storage tank with this version. But did not really need it. I did not try the wifi feature but turning this on, it did not take long to make ice at all. We ended up returning it because of the cost and not really using it as often.

Very easy too use and easy to clean! The ice is very small and crisp. It connect to my phone very easily.

This is one month after buying the GE Opal ice maker. I do not have the extra tank on the side. This machine sits on a countertop. I have wanted an ice maker for awhile. My refrigerator is not plumbed for an ice maker. If I want ice for a cold drink or just ice in water, i either make it with a tray or buy a bag of it at the store. Looking at the various ice makers out there, its evident that the least spendy are cube makers. Pellet ice makers, such as the Opal 2.0 are 3 or 4 times the cost. For $150 or less, you can get a ice cube maker that will spit out enough ice in a day to make you happy. If thats what you want, great. I wanted the Opal 2.0. The machine as of today, is wonderful. After the preliminary cleaning, I filled it to the lvel needed, and it started cranking out pellet ice pronto. It will fill the ice hopper tub that it comes with, within an hour. The ice maker will make ice until it runs out of H2O, then it will recyle the melted ice into new pellets. This process will go on for a long time. I don't know because I've either consumed the ice ( or my friends and family) and just refilled it with tap water. When I do manage not to empty the Ice hopper tub, I bag it up and put it in the freezer for use as block ice in my cooler. The Opal 2.0 makes great ice for everyone. My suggestion is try it. A note though is to buy the filters from a seller that has compatible water filters. Third party sellers are half the price. You don't get one when you buy, just a metal screen filter comes ready with it. If youre using tap, it will make your ice better.

The first machine started making a loud noise during the first cycle. Returned it and the replacement has been awesome. Where we live they really have the small ice nuggets and my wife is crazy for them . This machine is easy to use and clean. No issues so far after 3 months. Get the black stainless model, it's gorgeous

My family loves this icemaker. It's fast and the texture is great. You can connect to WiFi to schedule it to turn off at night saving energy. I do recommend you get the side tank and use distilled water or clean frequently if you have hard water.

Love this machine! We wanted softer ice as our toddler has started to want ice and the ice from the fridge is a choking hazard. We’ve used this machine non-stop since getting it for Christmas. We did add the side reservoir as it gives us more ice between refills. The ice is great and we love that we can schedule to have ice already made when we typically want it.

Best ice maker I’ve ever owned. Everybody who comes over always wants a cup of ice. Highly recommend you buy the model with water tank on side. Only issue is it did stopped making ice so I had to clean the Shute sensors behind the ice bin with a tooth brush. Only takes a couple mins so no biggie.

Love this nugget ice maker!!! Makes perfect nugget ice and seems to use less water overall than another nugget ice maker I had but always has ice ready. Very easy to use and clean.

The ice maker in our fridge went out. This was a much cheaper replacement. It takes a bit of counter space but got more freezer space in exchange. It makes ice quick - really quick. I usually kick it on as I'm preparing a meal and before I'm done cooking I have plenty of ice for drinks.

Makes perfect ice, but the humming while it’s making ice is a little louder than I would’ve liked. Overall it’s a good ice maker

Love this ice maker!!! It makes ice pretty fast and it’s perfect. I do believe the ice maker is a bit pricy, $650. I’m not sure if I am paying for the GE name. I love it. Don’t let the price deter you.

I bought an Opal 2.0 just over 2 years ago (the other SKU with the side tank) and it failed on me, but I love this ice maker and I bought the protection plan so it took a little trip to the Best Buy service center and they approved a store credit exchange so I bought this one. It's the exact same model and fits with the side tank I kept from the old one. Once I set it up, I was a bit surprised. It's absolutely identical to the old one that failed, but it's off to a noticeably better start! First thing I noticed was when I did the initial cleaning cycle. I did many cleaning cycles on my old one and the water always just dribbled through, but on this one it comes pouring out like a fountain. I dealt with hard water deposits and mold in my old one and I think it's because the cleaning cycle wasn't strong enough. That's probably why it failed after 2 years. Second thing I noticed was no weird noises and squeaks like my old one did for the first couple of weeks we used it. That one kept making some odd noises and then switched itself into defrost mode. I think I must have had a defective one that still managed to last 2 years because this new one is just quietly making perfect ice with no delays. I highly recommend this ice maker. I love it and I bought another protection plan with my replacement. You should definitely consider one too, but if you buy one and the cleaning cycle doesn't push water through fast enough to splash everywhere, or it makes weird noises and switches to defrost mode right after you just bought it, take the thing back and get a different one. Also, be prepared to take good care of this thing. It's meant to be turned off when you're not needing any ice, and so there's standing water near a lot of heat that was produced by the compressor and mold will grow in addition to any hard water deposits. It needs to be cleaned and sanitized monthly, which requires it to be near a sink or have a bucket handy with some bleach and descaling chemical handy. Not a trivial task. I still recommend it. It makes the best ice all day long.

My wife loves this thing more than any other kitchen gadgets ive gotten both of us for years. It runs great and makes the perfect small ice we loved as kids and ate on years ago. Reminds us of Dairy Queen ice but better. Running strong so far and non stop.
