Nope! For the price I expected better quality. Started making the most unbearable noise within 3 days. I mean screaming at us from the kitchen. I looked it up on YouTube and eventually everyone who owns it runs into this problem. Had to return it.

This is the 2nd ice machine I’ve purchased. My 1st one lasted 2 years. This one i bought in December 2023 and it quit working March 2024. My life has been crazy due to my daughter passing away 2 months after her son was born, now raising a baby im in desperate need for ice. Should i take it to Best By or call someone? I know i should of returned it earlier but it was the last thing on my mind. On the other hand it worked fantastic for 3 months. I absolutely LOVE IT! I highly recommend it. Wasn’t noisy worked perfectly. My other one didn’t have WiFi. I would definitely recommend the one with WiFi. It will alert you when it needs to be cleaned, maintenance and what’s it’s doing at all times. Fits under standard cabinets. Definitely get the large water tank. Ive had both, this one is my favorite. I know it was pricey but id buy it again and again. I truly LOVE IT.

This is 2nd Opal 2.0 ice maker after my first one died in less than a year. Thank goodness BESTBUY let me exchange it at the store. Don't get me wrong, i would not have gotten another one if i didn't like it. The Opal is probably the best counter top portable ice maker around, but saying this, they are not great by any means, not yet anyway. The design is beautiful, looks really nice on the counter top. It makes soft pellet ice fairly quickly. The downside is that it does need to be cleaned quite often, probably every 2 weeks, because it does get nasty pretty quick. Also, when the machine goes into defrosting mode, the machine starts to scream and can get very, very loud. If you do a cleaning, this will normality quiet the machine down. It's not difficult to clean, but it's not that easy either. It gets easier to do the more you do it.

We got this model after our Insignia ice maker broke down just short of one year of purchase. This is THE smoothest and quietest ice maker on planet earth. Easy setup and easy cleaning instructions as well. Spend the extra $$ and don’t skimp. 10/10 would recommend!

I love the fact that it has a 1 gallon tank plus the other water rservoir in the unit itsel so you dont have to fill it so often (unless you use ALOT of ice). I also love that it connects to Google and Alexa. I think for the high price it shouldve come with a filter but otherwise i love this ice maker

I originally had the GE profile, first generation, which was an excellent icemaker, but this new version is really well-made, I like the finishing construction, and it's quieter. I also like the Wi-Fi ability to schedule ice production and able to turn the lights on and off depending on conditions in the kitchen. It it's more efficient at making ice for the ice nuggets are the best!

Love the nugget ice. Makes the best ice of all the buffet ice makers. Makes ice quickly and abundantly WHEN YOU GET ONE THAT WORKS. I have been through 4 of these in the last three years (3 opal and 1 insignia). They just don’t last. But they are worth the hassle for the nice they make This is a product that the extended warranty is a MUST HaVE. BB Total tech pays for itself on these things alone. I have replace 4 times at no cost with the total tech program.

Replaced a cheaper bullet ice maker that could not keep up with our large family needs. So glad I decided to go with the more expensive GE over the frigidaire. Makes ice quickly, and the XL tank means I don't have to monitor the water level much at all. I just fill the tank with distilled water every couple days. The ice is PERFECT and my whole family drinks more water as a result! I did read some reviews about it not lasting so I purchased the 4 year geek squad warranty to be safe :)

Had to take the first one back because it stopped making ice and the read out said “add water” even though it was full of water. The machine made a lot of loud strange noises. I guess if the second one we get makes the same noises , I’d say to folks don’t buy unless you have another room to keep it in when in use. Definitely too large for kitchen counter or small bar area. I keep mine in laundry room. As far as the ice it produces, it is great!!! It is totally addictive and I found myself everyday using the ice machine over refrigerator ice…. If this second one we get stops working, I guess we will return to Best Buy and call it quits….

This is a fantastic product! If you like Sonic ice, you will love this machine. I wish it was refrigerated, but it works great as it is. It doesn't take up a lot of space and fits under the cabinet. It keeps up with our needs with no hassle. I especially like the new gallon side tank. It it so much easier to use a gallon at a time, then partials. Because of our hard water, we use only distilled and have no issues whatsoever. It's more expensive that a lot of others, but well worth it in the quality of the product. I highly recommend this product!

This ice machine is awesome! The ice is made so quickly and is such an easy system to maintain. With a monthly clean, this machine has definitely given us what we’ve paid for!

Worth the money it very useful during the hot summer gives great amount of ice and the quality comes with an ice scooper and just one scoop and your beverage is ice cold and since it dispenses ice nuggets it’s these are the perfect ice cubes for drinks so you plenty of the perfect beverage instead of huge ice cubes that when melting in your beverage obviously gets watered down and makes your beverage not to tasty towards the end of halfway not with this machine and the ice nuggets it dispenses no beverages will be wasted worth just get it right now and add this to your list/cart

Bought this for my wife and she loves it. The build quality is excellent, it’s much quieter than a previous brand we purchased, and the ice is better than Sonic. My wife literally gets full glasses of this ice and eats it like candy. I’ll say that it’s a heavy model, so it’s a little cumbersome if you want to move it to the sink for sanitizing or descaling, but it has easy to reach hoses so you can empty it into a bowl if preferred. It has a light that you can use to see the ice which is dimmable, so you can have it bright, low, or even off. The water section can be placed on either side of the unit, making it easier to place the large unit wherever you want. We use the gallon filtered waters from the store and it will hold a full container. It does push out some warm air, so I wouldn’t put it beside food or the fridge.

This pellet ice machine works great when it does.l and I say that because I can’t confirm but believe the firmware update ruined my first one. My first one worked well until I put it on wifi and allowed a firmware update. My warranty replacement ice maker has not been added to wifi or done a firmware update and it’s working good. The warranty process works but they made me jump through the usual foreign call center hoops before I demanded a replacement since it was only 3 week old. So great ice maker, don’t do wifi it’s pointless anyway, who needs remote power off and on really. And stay away from the firmware update. Be prepared to have to warranty it.

This is a great ice machine. The ice is not too hard and is a perfect size. Having the large XL side tank works well. It does take a bit of maintenance…cleaning and sanitizing…but worth it to get fabulous tasting ice. Using distilled water will hopefully help cut down on build up. The black stainless color is beautiful and matches the black stainless appliances perfectly.

Makes great ice. Relatively noisy. After two weeks of use, started getting an error - Add Water. Although the water tank was full, this error persisted. Online searches show purchasers dismantling their unit to correct. We removed the official, relatively expensive GE recommended compatible water filter that we installed, and replaced it with the strainer that comes with the unit. Seems to work ok now - hoping it stays that way. Intentionally, we did not purchase a cheap after market filter and as such did not expect any issues. Maybe we got a bad filter? Pretty disappointing though, this pellet ice machine is an expensive unit.

My ice machine went out on my fridge so instead of a new fridge I just picked an ice maker. The Opal is fast! I had ice an hour after set up. It has an internal changeable water filter that really improves ice flavor. It’s almost continuous ice output until the bin is full. I can program when it’s to turn off at night and start up in the morning so I don’t have to wait for ice. Your choice of setup for every day of the week. You can control the operation by Bluetooth with your smartphone. It has a water reservoir and a separate 1 gal side tank that gravity feeds as it makes ice and shuts down if it goes dry. There’s two of us using ice and I have to fill it every 4-5 days. The only improvement I can think of is making the ice bin colder so the ice lasts a little longer. But as the ice melts it drips back into the water reservoir and is reused for ice. No waste!
