The GE Opal Ice Makers are straight trash. We have had to replace it three years in a row. Basically, right at a year old, it starts making an absurd loud noise (that can be heard on the other side of the house with doors closed.) This is the first sign its about to die. Thats the gear griding in the top, it grinds out, then the ice making part freezes over because it no longer spins. So you have an ice maker that just freezes solid, gears ground out, and it makes a noise so loud you can even hear it outside!!!! The ONLY positive is that I learned after my first ice maker broke, to buy the Geek Squad protection plan. Their customer service, help to replace the following two, was easy, and no questions asked. The ice maker itself is GARBAGE. Name brand or not, its such a hassle. One year lifespan guys, IF THAT. Good Luck!

Owned for almost 2 months and have used nearly every single day. Great quality ice. Love chewing on it. Easy to use and maintain. I like how there's an app where I can schedule times/days for this to function. Good gor early work days. It is pricey, but I do like this better than other types of ice makers that I've used before. I've read elsewhere that some people have had issue with pump system when a filter is installed within the ice maker. So we just use filtered zerowater (since our primary source of water anyways) instead with the screen insert. No problems.

I have had it about a week now. I love it’s sleek design and features. I like that it comes with a magnetic ice scoop holder. It makes ice really well, however it doesn’t hold very well for the money.

Overall great product. Makes ice in about 10 min. The only downside is it doesn’t keep the ice. It melts fast.

So easy to clean and drinking so much more water because of the ease and enjoyment of nugget ice! Happy I did not get the side tank, I didn’t want something else to clean and for a family of 3, I add water about every other day. Highly recommend!

When I first opened and taken it out the box, I couldnt figure out how to set it up and why it was just pooring the water instead of making ice.. I just needed to be patient. Ive had the ice maker for about a month now and its better than my previous ice maker

This is my second GE icemaker. Both are still in use the side tank is very useful as we use it as a countertop easy to clean and maintain and it makes the perfect ice. Got this one to get ready for the holidays and always have plenty of ice on hand.

Best ice maker. I do recommend getting reservoir tank so you’re not constantly filling the main tank.

Love this icemaker!!! Full and ready for me every morning and quickly refills throughout the day. a little noisy at times, but not disturbing.

Got this for my mom last year for her xmas present. Shes loved it ever since and needed one without an ice maker in her refrigerator! Ice size and quality is super good.

We love our ice machine. This is the second one we have owned. The first one lasted 4 yrs with routine cleaning and we only used distilled water. Buy the extended warranty! The insurance company paid for my new ice machine because they couldn't fix my old one.

Love ours! Only issue is it goes into clean mode often and gets stuck in it. Just have to drain and then good to go for a few weeks!

Love it, i come from having the bullet sized ice that melts quite instant. Life saver here.

I have had previous models of this machine before and they do not seem to last long but are very nice when they are working. Would definitely buy on sale and get the warranty.

Have had this unit running for several moths. NO ISSUES whatsoever. It’s much quieter than the original Opal and the air intake is in the back with a reusable air filter screen. My old one would collect dust and stopped working until I figured that bit out. This makes ice so fast. It is a joy. I use the app to turn it on remotely and it tells you to sanitize every couple of days. We use reverse osmosis water so no scale build up. We sanitize 1 time a month. Like nugget ice? Buy this. Any bad reviews are from older units. This is great
