Just not wowed

Replaced a 10 year old GE Profile that was still running ok but just not getting dishes 100% clean. Ive only had this Profile dishwasher for a week so the jury's still out but so far it's been ok. It cleans pretty good but even with the Power Dry it leaves a lot of water on the tops of cups and bowles (more than the old washer). Also the stainless steel is tough to keep looking clean but a problem with the old washer all my appliances. That's probably my only real complaints. Just not wowed. Definitely would have weighed my options with another brand (Samsung, LG, Bosch, etc.) if all my appliances weren't all GE Profile.

I purchased this dishwasher about six months ago and I run it at least 5 times a week. The operation is incredibly quiet, which is the main reason I chose this dishwasher. Additionally, I like the bottle jets and the many wash jets throughout the dishwasher. I did a lot of research before choosing this dishwasher, but I wasn't able to see one in person before it was delivered. I wish I had.
As it turns out, I was quite disappointed with the load configuration on this dishwasher. One of the reasons I run it so often is that it doesn't hold as much as my previous Kenmore Elite. The top rack has strangely configured tines which allow for two rows of very wide glasses (which I don't need), one very narrow row (kinda pointless since very little fits), a center row that sits higher than other rows, which means it's only useful for short glasses, and one normal row that fits my coffee mugs. I understand the center row sitting up (there is a water channel underneath to allow for jets for the top of the dishwasher) but the extra wide outside rows are just a waste of space. The bottom rack has tines set so far apart on one row that I'm unable to wash smaller plates and saucers, which limits the usefulness of that row.
You buy a dishwasher for the ability to load and wash dishes. It's a bonus if the dishwasher is quiet and efficient. I wish I had been able to see this dishwasher in person before purchasing, because I feel like I got the bonus without the main performance points I need in a dishwasher.
All that being said, I do love the quiet. I just wished the racks were better configured so that the dishwasher fit my dishes, cups and glasses. I would recommend this dishwasher with reservations. I would suggest looking at the rack configuration before purchasing to see if it will work for you.

I love My GE Dishwasher

This dishwasher has handled all I've thrown at it. I've really put it through its paces with dried on everything! It all comes out sparkling clean, and I especially love the jets under the silverware baskets. I would have given it 4.5 stars because I'm not thrilled with the drying feature. Using a rinse/drying aid is a must along with bumping up the water temp. Bottoms of glasses are wet as well as some plastic stuff, not all. I try to slant all the cups and glasses so that the water will drain off. Getting really dry dishes seems to be a problem with all new dishwashers because of the focus being on energy efficiency. All in all I would recommend this dishwasher if you want really clean dishes and silverware and if you don't mind blotting off a few glass and cup bottoms.
I'd like to add that I researched dishwashers for 3 months. This is not the first one I chose. My first choice was a higher end brand name believing it would clean and dry better. Well it didn't even clean as well as my 12 year old GE that I was replacing. Since Best Buy gives you 15 days to see if you're satisfied with the product I decided to go back to the GE brand. This is an awesome policy and I can't recommend Best Buy highly enough! There was no problem asking them to replace my first one.
All that being said, I'm super happy!

Hello roncar6 - thanks for providing your wonderful review of your dishwasher. We're glad to hear that you love the way it works. If it is not drying well, in addition to the jet dry and hot water temperature, try selecting the wash temp boost. We're glad to know how much you love your dishwasher, especially after researching dishwashers for so long. Thanks for choosing GE Appliances and for providing your feedback! NANCYatGEA

We looked at a number of dishwashers in the GE family before settling on this one. The dishwasher looks great and is whisper quiet and we sometimes can't tell if its even running.
The main complaints are that it sometimes doesn't clean stuck on food and the drying cycle is hit or miss. We understood that newer dishwashers do NOT need to have dishes rinsed/washed before putting them in. Sometimes the dishes/utensils will come out completely dry and other times they will be wet and need to be dried by hand before putting them away.
The BB installation team also did a horrible job of installing the unit and didn't bother to level or align the unit correctly in the counter space. This led to our counter being damaged and the dishwasher control panel coming off due to it hitting the side of the counter.

I have bought many dishwashers and no complaints on this one. Can't hear it running at all. Cleans dishes great. I was between this one and the cafe. Glad I chose the profile.

We hadn't been dishwasher shopping for more than 15 years and was taken back a bit at all of the different choices and options.
After an hour online reading reviews I narrowed the field to four different makes/models. I went to a few stores to see all four in person and picked this model and Best Buy.
This is the one we ended up purchasing that day for the endless barrage of features it has.
Not only does it have a lot of great options (jets aimed at silverware, bottle jets you can turn on and off, shorter cycle options, top/bottom/or both options for smaller or full loads, etc.) it is almost WHISPER QUIET!
When we ran it the first time my wife thought the sound she was hearing was a very light rain outside.
Worth the sticker price and it was on sale at Best Buy. Win - Win

Was a little bit of a pain to install. The 'Tall Tub' makes for very little room to make the connections under the unit, but is just how it is if you want the tall tub - which is nice. And the sound deadening measures have to be right. It has a very heavy blanket that goes over the unit it absorb sound and rubber strips that seal the unit to the sides and top. When it is all done and running the only thing that you can hear is the 'woosh' of the water jets. It also cleans very well.

We really liked our previous dishwasher from Kenmore so were a little worried about having to switch it out so we could get one in slate. The dishwasher is very quiet and does a great job cleaning the dishes. Wish it would have the 3rd rack up top or silverware, etc. but overall we are very happy with it

This is so much quieter than our old dishwasher we can hardly tell it is running! Love the slate finish. Only four stars because it seems to take quite a bit longer to run a normal cycle.

We replaced our 20yr old Maytag dishwasher with this GE Profile and the difference was stunning! It's so quiet we sometimes have to look at the display to see if it's running and even with it set to the econo mode it gets everything perfectly clean in about an hour.
The only complaint is that you can't touch the stainless steel without leaving dark fingerprints so it always looks dirty.

It's important to note that this dishwasher as an illuminated indicator to let you know when the machine is "washing", "drying" and "clean". If it didn't you would not know it was on. This is a very quite dishwasher. The other great features are the separate jets for cleaning large drinking bottles as well as silverware. There is also a mode to wash only the upper or lower rack. Very effeciant. The installation was fast and professional. We could not be happier.

I can't believe how quiet this thing is! Our old washer sounded like a tornado was forming under the counter.
The bottle jets are great for kids bottles or narrow mouth glasses. Also, the top rack is adjustable up or down in case you have bigger pans on the bottom or tall glasses on top. The wine glass stem rack is a nice addition to ensure your fragile glass isn't tipped over during the wash cycles. There are more settings on it than we could possibly use.
Nothing negative to report other than I wish this thing could load itself too! You won't be disappointed!

The best thing I can say about it is how incredibly quiet it is! If that means a lot to you this unit definitely has that going for it. That being said, I don't think it's worth it's cost. I got it on sale and installed myself. The legs are very hard to level compared to other units. I have had not leaking issues. Everything works great! But even with all the bells and whistles, it just washes dishes. You could accomplish that for half its cost. I really wanted this unit for the ability to do wash zones, top or bottom rack only. It does that. However, those cycle are almost just as long as a full cycle with both racks. I don't think you're really saving that much water or even that much more energy by doing a single zone wash - the main reasons I wanted this unit. Also, it has NO air dry option!!! This really upset me! Even on eco mode it still runs the heated dry function. It has a turbo dry feature you can disable, but you have to catch it after it's done washing and open it up otherwise the heater proceeds to dry the dishes. This is highly disappointing as my cheap 10 year old unit I was replacing could even do an air dry!

Replaced an older, very noisy dishwasher with this one. My primary criteria was quiteness and this fit the bill. The only issue I have found so far is that without the power dry option turned on the dishes are left pretty wet.
