Fundamental design problem

Don't buy from Best Buy
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Horrible experience. I dealt with them for over a month and they attempted delivery 5 times and everytime 30 mins before delivery they cancelled the order after making me wait all day. I rather go to lowes or any other store. Their customer service is worst and made no attempt to solve it.

Posted .We regret to hear you returned your new UltraFast Combo. A few years ago, California updated its Prop 65 regulations to require, for products produced on or after August 30, 2018, new on-product warning labels (instead of owner's manual warnings). We, and all other appliance manufacturers, will use on-product warning labels to comply with this state law. Starting in early August 2018, we began adding new labels to our products to comply with the new Prop 65 requirements. The presence of a Proposition 65 warning does not necessarily mean the product is unsafe or poses a health risk. Over 800 chemicals are on this list, including wood dust, nickel (found in stainless steel), nicotine, and alcohol. Additionally, even inaccessible parts can create a requirement to include the warning.

4 1/2 stars. Almost perfect. Helpful tips added
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall, I am happy with the machine and am hopeful that software updates will eventually fix some minor issues. The pros outweigh the cons for me. This is my first front loading machine, so I don’t know if my issues are the same for all front loaders, or just this machine. Pros: There is no static AT ALL when taking the clothes out of the dryer. No more worries about having to leave the house with a load in the washing machine. The delayed start option is also very helpful. The filter is very easy to clean – however, I recommend cleaning it after EVERY load as it does fill up quikly and there are lint “bunnies” all around the outside of the filter. (see photos) I like having the ability to leave it for 2-3 hours and come back to a completed load of laundry. Because of the residual dampness in the machine, if you don’t remove clothing right away, there is wrinkling. Using the Wrinkle Care feature will help with this. I also use a pipe cleaner to clean the interior of the machine where the filter sits to remove bits of lint in there. Occasionally, I use an extended crevace tool (previoiusly purchased to clean out the dryer vent) to carefully vacuum in there. It’s very quiet and my laundry closet now has so much more space. It uses a regular wall outlet and there is no more vent! All you need is water and drain hookups. No more messy lint on the outside of the house’s siding and no more having to clean out the vent tube. Perfect for apartment living, or anywhere there is limited space for a washer and dryer. Cons: The alarm sound letting you know that the machine cycle is completed is quick and not very loud. I would prefer if it was a bit longer so that it would be easier to hear. Initially, there was a smell coming from the machine while it was running. This has dissapated a bit after about a month. The smell does not linger on the laundry items. I’m guessing it’s the heat pump. I do sometimes miss the ablilty to run the washer and dryer at the same time on those busy laundry days, but the positives outweigh this inconvenience. The wells on the top drawer that hold the bleach and fabric softener, always have SOME water in them after every load. I have a cloth to absorb it all as well as I can since I don’t want mold to grow in there overtime. (see photos) There are times, however, when the bleach well is completely full of water. This is harder to empty out when you have the ‘Smart Dispense’ laundry detergent compartment filled with detergent. I remove the tray and bring it to the sink to tip towards the back and drain as much water as I can (this will also leak some of the detergent). The residual water can be absorbed with a cloth. Every time the door is opened it seems like there is always water dripping from the left side. This seems to be coming from the water left in the bleach/fabric softener wells. If you empty them out, the dripping stops. The blue silicone around the opening needs to be cleaned after each load – lint and hair seems to collect there. I have also noticed some lint buildup around the door opening – the narrow section between the edge of the blue silicon and the metal drum. I use a pipe cleaner here as well to remove the lint. This is a tedious task, so I will probably only do it monthly. The machine was correctly leveled by the installers, but, still, at one specific point of the wash spin cycle, there is a lot of vibrations. These vibrations are strong enough that items stored on my shelves above the machine fall off. My machine is also up on my second floor above the kitchen. The vibrations also had my glasses moving around in the cupboards. I had one glass fall out on me when opening the cupboard door, so I had to install a brace in my cupboards to prevent this from happening again. Helpful tips: I empty out the water that’s left in the drawer compartments (see above) while the dryer cycle is running. This will decrease the amount of water that will drip out when you open the door. I keep a cloth handy when I open the door to catch any water from dipping on my dry laundry. After a laundry cycle is over, I leave the vent filter, dispenser drawer and front door open for a while to allow the insides to dry out inbetween loads. I run a monthly cleaning cycle with a cup of Hydrogen Peroxide – this is an alternative to bleach that disinfects the machine without the strong, harsh smell of bleach. According to the manual, adding anything to the machine cleaning cycle is not mandatory. (vinegar can be corrosive so I never use that) When drying sheets – I remove the flat sheet and pillow cases while there’s about 20 minutes left on the drying cycle. I dry the fitted sheet alone, and then do the flat sheet and pillow cases when that’s done. This eliminates wrinkling and having pillow cases stuck inside the fitted sheet corners.

This Changes Everything!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We recently purchase the GE Profile washer/dryer combo unit after our old front load washer died. We wanted to relocate our laundry from the basement to the kitchen (something we've noticed in Europe and were impressed by the practical location). With this new-to-us combo unit and lack of a dryer vent, we decided the make the change. I can't emphasize this enough, this unit changes everything! The ease of use, the ability to toss a load in and forget about it until their entirely done, it simply creates more leisure time so its a no brainer for anyone looking to increase quality of life and leisure. The washer mode sounds and functions like any other front load washer. The heat pump dryer mode is quieter than a standard front load dryer and the alternating tumble while drying keeps clothes and blankets tangle free and wrinkle free. The clothes are completely dry when done and because it's a heat pump, there's humidity within the basket so static is eliminated entirely (even without the use of fabric softeners and dryer sheets). I recommend this unit to everyone. Not getting this unit in favor of separate washer and dryer units is like staying with a rotary landline phone in 2023. Sure it'll do the job, by why not choose convenience and add to your quality of life?

Dream Machine(s)
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Absolutely LOVE my new machines….thats machines with a “s” because we bought 2. My husband had been asking to go check these out, but the thought of waiting 2-3 hours for a single load was just crazy to me. The compromise was to get 2 so we can have a full scale laundry day, knocking two loads out at a time. Best decision EVER. These machines are BEASTS. Super heavy, solid and beautiful to look at. I love that my 19 year old son (who’s nocturnal) can throw load in late night, and wake up to a fully washed and dried load. No more mildew smells from being left in wash overnight. Clothes are SO clean and smell extremely fresh. I honestly have never questioned how well our old front loader was washing, until now. I cannot get over how clean our clothes look, feel and smell now. I really appreciate that we can pre-load the detergent and softener; this is a priceless feature that I didn’t know I needed!! Now, as much as I want to sing all this praise from the rooftops…I must also add that the one thing I wish was better, is the lint situation. I’m sure future models will likely come up with a better solution, but for now, we endure the tedious task of taking a few minutes after laundry is done, to clean the filters, use a long brush to rid the machine of free floating lint bunnies and wiping down the ring (which is almost 100% dry) and the door. Bottom line is, the one con (lint) comes nowhere near the many pros that this machine has to offer!!!

Great use of space
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We remodeled our bathroom with enough space for this combo. This allowed us to move our laundry upstairs. It is very heavy, but eliminates the need for 2 machines. The clothes and machine are damp at the end of the load, but the clothes are dry after a shack, like the instructions suggest. My only concern is with the machine staying damp and causing problems in the future. So far though, it has been excellent.

Read This & You too will Love (not) Doing Laundry!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was skeptical at first, but I AM A BELIEVER, GE ! This machine does what it says - washes and dries a large load in 2 hours - actually it did it my last load in 1:52 to be exact! Easy to set up and install (it is a bit heavy) but NO VENT, a simple 120V outlet - Holy COW! I love the cool controls - you can start a laundry load with just a few simple steps, or if you want, it has options galore. My favorite laundry miracle so far: it washed and dried my king size comforter and it was completely dry in the middle and the ends were also dry. That never happened in my old Samsungs that made it feel like a toasted burrito with a soft wet center. I'd have to dry it multiple times, but not with this technical marvel. My 2nd favorite: a 79 minute QUICK CYCLE WASH + DRY. I think that's less time than how long I would leave clothes sitting in the washer. Now there done in ONE STEP. After a week of using the combo and running close to a dozen loads I can say it makes me not hate doing laundry...dare I say love it, cause it feels like I'm not doing laundry. Whaaat??. No more weekends tethered to the house to switch over wet laundry to the dryer. no more forgetting. Oh, did I mention it has a a big dispenser that holds detergent and softener? It's got it all!

Nice machine if you're a tech junkie like me...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this washer/dryer combo after seeing a commercial on TV last week. I really didn't need it because my current Maytag washer and dryer were still in perfect condition. But the tech gadget junkie in me decided to research this new GE model on the internet. Most of the reviews were very good so I decided to try one while they were still on sale for $1999. I ordered it from Lowe's and I used a 10% mover's coupon. Lowe's delivered the machine the next day. My machine came with a very tiny dent on one side that was barely visible. I took my receipt to Lowe's and they refunded me another 10%. My total for this machine was $1700 which included FL sales tax. Excellent deal! lol My initial test was to wash a queen sized bed comforter. The wash/dry cycle took roughly 2 hours and 20 minutes. GE claims the clothes might feel wet or damp when they're taken out of the machine. GE also says the clothes will quickly dry to 100% dryness feel. Certain areas of my comforter had that slightly damp feeling. I laid the comforter on my bed and it was completely dry to the touch about 30 minutes later. By the way, the washer did an excellent job at washing the comforter. Second test was a regular load of clothes which was some shirts, a towel and a few kitchen towels smaller in size. That load took roughly 2 hours and 30 minutes. Once again, the items felt damp but they were completely dried on their own in less than 30 minutes. A few initial observations on my part. The lint - heat pump filter does an excellent job at catching lint. But I noticed there's a lot of warm moisture air in that compartment. I feel like its a good idea to leave the filter outside the machine at least for a couple hours so the moisture in that area has better chances of escaping. You never want moisture in places no longer than what's necessary. Second observation is to pull out the laundry detergent hopper and place it in a sink where the excess water left over can drain out. Leaving this water in the hopper while inside the machine all the time is perfect breeding grounds for mold and mildew. Let the water drain from the hopper then put it back in the machine only after everything is dry. Other than that, this machine is pretty nice. My one and only concern is the longevity of the heat pump inside the unit. Its covered under GE's five year sealed system but I hope it lasts much longer. These machines are very expensive and they should last much longer than five years.

Pretty wonderful
|Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We live in a large home with a main bedroom on main floor (along with washer and gas dryer) and additional bedrooms on a 2nd floor, for guests and our older kids. We bought this for the 2nd floor so the kids and guests can do laundry easily. We tried one of these at a laundromat while overseas and wanted to try out one for the house. It's honestly pretty amazing. Really have no complaints so far and this was much simpler to make a space for, versus separate washer dryer. It's really not much more expensive than buying a decent 2 piece set, takes about 1/2 the space, requires no venting, no gas hookup, and is energy efficient. The installation does call for a separate 110 circuit, which we did, but you might get by on a shared circuit if you can control what else is running on it. It seems to clean very well. It's quiet. It has a pretty large capacity. The automatic dispenser is nice. It dries well. As the manual states, clothes may feel slightly damp but it's not - just a quick shake and it's dry. Almost magical. People that have problems with vibration on spin cycle may not have leveled it correctly because we have no issues. Its very heavy and quite tall and I recommend delivery. The delivery guys made it look easy getting it to the spot I wanted. Some special functions are available only through the app and I wish it could just also be available on the unit itself, but overall we love this thing.

Large and reliable
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The washer dryer combo is a game change for busy families like mine! I am able to keep track of the load through an app on my phone and i could also control it from the app which is pretty genius! The machine is nice and tall so i don't really have to bend down, the line filter is very discrete and easy to clean out. There is also the option to add many loads worth of detergent and downy for easier and faster laundry loading. It almost seems odd, but cool that you just give your clothes a shake out the dryer and they go from a dano to instant dry. I'm not sure about the technology behind that but i know it's going to save me energy and power which is always a plus. Also, a large king comforter fits!

Life Changing!
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Talk about a GAME CHANGER! I had a tiny stacked wash/dry center and could wash about 8 items at at time. Having a family of 6, I dreaded laundry b/c it took for freaking ever! For bulky items, I had to dry them 2-3 cycles. Also, I was never sure how clean my clothes were getting. I've had this combo for almost 2 weeks and I am thrilled to do laundry now! Yes, it is BIG & BULKY and takes up more space than my last unit but it is a workhorse! Mine kind a shakes a bit during some cycles but could be that my floor isn't very level. Those 2 little drawbacks are really non-issues for me. Some ppl mentioned puddles of water when they open it...yes, there have been times when there was a tiny puddle on the blue liner when I open the door but they're very small. Also, if I put the dryer on extra dry, I don't notice that happening as much. Pulling out humid clothes takes a little while to get used to at first but once you start to fold them, they feel completely dry. I can't tell you how nice it is to just throw my clothes in there, choose my setting, and walk away. There are many setting to chose from and even though it's pretty automated you still have a lot of control. You can wash only or dry only, etc. I am BEYOND HAPPY with this machine and it's made my life so much better. You should definitely get it, especially now while the price has dropped.

Read the directions. This All-in One is worth it.
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really enjoy the ability to start a load , run a couple errands and come home just in time to hang or fold laundry. The AI automatic sensing for detergent and drying also a plus. Some people complain about how not everything is completely dry. 1. Wash like items/ materials together 2. Shake out the slightly damp and hang up. Another complaint that I read was about smell. The only time I smelled no detergent was before I figured out the automatic dispenser. Bottom line. Read the directions first. Now I love it since I watched the videos and followed the advice.

Best Purchase Ever
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Best adult purchase of my entire life, this product not only saves space (it actually fits in our laundry room!) but it saves SO much time. Never again do I have to worry about switching laundry and forgetting to do so. On average a medium/large load takes about 2.5 hours to wash and dry, maybe a little longer with bulky bedding. I’ve been using this for a month now and have zero complaints. It’s quiet, convenient, and everything you want in a washer/dryer. Definitely recommend. Just hoping it lasts for years to come!

Advancement in Laundry Tech
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We are on day two of this device and I would definitely recommend it. Does it take long sometimes? Yes. A load of towels may take 2-3 hours depending on the size. Is it still worth it? In my opinion yes because you can throw in a load before bed and wake up to it being dry. We saved a ton of space, the app works great, and the device looks really nice in the space. I will also say it’s very quiet when operating. I was worried about the laundry room getting hot because of the lack of the vent, but it hasn’t been an issue at all. There also seems to be less humidity given vs my old gas unit. If you can wait the 2-3 hours sometimes it’s worth it.

So Far, So Good
||Posted . Owned for 5 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had one for about six months now, and I'm very satisfied with it. It is almost completely automated. You put in a load, choose the settings, press start, and that's it. When it's done, the clothes are clean and dry. It has remote control from the phone app, and will send you alerts when the load is done. By having automatic dispensers for detergent and softener and washing and drying in one machine, a lot of the manual steps of doing laundry are removed. Maintenance is minimal, and not hard to keep up with, because the machine and app remind you. The only reason anyone should think twice about this type of machine from a practical standpoint is if you regularly do multiple loads one after the other. Since you can't wash one load and dry another at the same time, it will take significantly longer to do multiple loads in a row. Large families who try to wash everything in one day could have a problem with it. But if you can adjust to spacing out loads over the course of the week, it's much more convenient and hassle-free than a regular washer and dryer. The only thing it doesn't do for you is put the load in and fold it when it's done. And the only reason I don't give it five stars is because I'm waiting to see what kind of longevity it has. It's not cheap, but it does have a five year warranty. If it lasts as long as a conventional washer and dryer (which can often last up to 20 years), this is the greatest machine ever made. If it starts having issues within the first few years, it will be a failure. So far, after 6 months, I'd say it's the best thing that's happened to laundry in a long time, and I am totally satisfied with the purchase.

GE Profile Ultrafast Combo We Love It!!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We currently have 9 people doing laundry in our home. We had the Maytag Bravo XL washer and dryer for a few years now but have been running the dryer twice a lot to finish loads. Despite cleaning out the discharge, deep cleaning the lint trap and vents, it just continued to take longer and longer with the amount of use it received. It was great at first like most things, but eventually the electric bill was just out of control. My wife loves this GE Combo. She isn’t going to give compliments unless they are due, and she really loves this thing. We read the negative reviews, then the positive reviews and decided the positives far outweighed the negative and gave it a shot. In one review it says you need to do 8 pound loads. So far my wife has done 50+ loads in the past month and a half, and I promise you the loads are double the size of that review and we’ve had no issues. She did mention that the size loads are smaller than the Bravo XL, but only having to add the clothes to one machine, and having the app tell her when they’re done is a life saver for her. She can put a load in before work and come home to them done. Same thing with any time of the day. She told me she often had to rewash clothes due to forgetting to switch them to the dryer. Not anymore. The biggest plus in my case is it truly uses so much less water than our other washer and the clothes are still very clean. I can officially say our electric bill is about $60 less a month already and she said those 50 loads are double what she would usually do as she was catching up. So the savings will be much more I’m sure. The biggest of all is the 15 amp, 120 volt outlet. You really can run this on a standard outlet that you plug your lamps into. That’s awesome!!! I’m a huge fan. I know it’s only been a month and a half, but this thing will pay for itself in 3 years with another 7 year warranty to keep on saving. I did add an additional 5 year warranty from Best Buy for 300 bucks to cover anything that wasn’t covered by the factory warranty. The unit itself seems a little pricey at first, but when you factor in the cost of a washer and a dryer, with the electric and water you use, it’s well worth it. Absolutely thrilled!
