The Gigabyte G5 K5 is a mixed bag. It has some great features that make it a compelling buy, but it also has some shortcomings that are difficult to overlook. On the positive side, the G5 K5 comes with 16GB RAM, which is enough to handle most tasks easily. It's also very lightweight, and thin, making it easy to handle and theoretically making it more portable as well. The laptop has a plethora of I/O ports, a feature that some laptops skimp out on, which is especially helpful for gamers who might want to hook it up to an external display, mouse, and keyboard. It also comes with a powerful GPU and CPU combo that was able to handle most games I threw at it. The i7-12650H will be plenty for most users, and the RTX 4060 is a robust GPU that will satisfy most gamers. There's no bloatware to clutter up your experience either, and the keyboard has a numpad and a webcam kill switch which are both nice to see and quite useful. The numpad especially is a great addition for users who plan to use the G5 K5 for both work and play. The G5 K5 also shines in the gaming department. It has a 144Hz refresh rate and delivers consistently high frame rates, easily hitting 60fps or higher in the games I tried. Though fps are dependent in part on game and game settings, I fully expect most users to get a stable 60+fps with this machine, especially plugged in. With a 144Hz refresh rate, this is certainly a laptop that is well-suited for gamers who will also be happy to note a lack of screen tears or frame drops. Another neat feature is the keyboard backlight being somewhat customizable - you can change both color and brightness, which is appreciated. The laptop's sleek design makes it suitable to take to the office or to class without standing out too much, and the understated branding and design on the cover are always a welcome reprieve from more garish and glaringly gamer-y aesthetics. However, the G5 K5 has some fairly significant drawbacks. The 512GB SSD may not be enough storage even for casual users; although there is room for expandability and upgrades, it would have been nice to see more storage included. The laptop also gets quite hot and noisy under load, which is distracting and can be an issue if using the G5 K5 in work or school settings. Quite unfortunate, as it is marketed at creators as well as gamers...nobody wants to bring in a laptop to the office that sounds like an airplane ready for takeoff! The G5 K5 also doesn't have a physical webcam shutter, which isn't a dealbreaker but would have been a nice addition for little extra cost or thickness added to the device. The speakers are serviceable, but even non-audiophiles will likely find themselves wanting to use a headset or external speakers instead. The trackpad is mediocre, and the keyboard feels cramped and lacks the satisfying tactility you would hope to find in a gaming laptop. The chassis has some flex as well, making it feel a tad flimsy. More pressing is the unimpressive battery life especially under heavy load. Another key drawback is the color accuracy, which is poor. These both make the laptop poor choices for creators, given the lack of suitability for color-sensitive work and the inability to use it away from the wall for any extended length of time. I find it interesting that Gigabyte targets creators and "creative types" so prominently in its marketing when any creator worth their salt will be looking out for color accuracy and battery life in a work-oriented machine. The screen also gets decently bright but would struggle mightily outdoors or in bright rooms, making it less than ideal for on-the-go work or gaming. As a parting note, the outdated barrel jack charger is a major disappointment. When plenty of budget laptops nowadays allow for charging over USB-C, it feels borderline unacceptable to be relegated to using a barrel jack charger in 2023. Overall, the Gigabyte G5 K5 is a capable machine with some great features that gamers will certainly appreciate. However, it also has more than a few shortcomings that may be dealbreakers for some users, especially creators and professionals. For gamers and general users, this may well be worth checking out.

Best bang for your buck. Its cheap, it works, and it's loud. Buy an elevator for the bottom to get better air flow because this guy gets burning hot. Cons: the GPU (4060) is watt limited around 75 instead of the standard 100. This nets about 10% worse performance over standard 4060gpu laptop cards. Also, the brightness is absolute dogwater
