Sorry, but I do not like this laptop. It's super loud, sometimes just running basic programs. You can control the fan, but I noticed it starts to stutter as you go from performance to quiet mode. Games stutter at 1080p, which makes no sense to me for a laptop with a 4060. I've had issues with connecting devices via the USB-C slot and the laptop not picking these up. Battery life is terrible, even if your not using it for games. Slow to boot, which was unheard for me until I picked this laptop up. Overall, extremely disappointed and should have gone with the ASUS instead.

The GIGABYTE G5 KF5 is a gaming laptop that comes with a 15.6-inch LED display and a 144Hz high refresh rate screen for 1920 x 1080 resolution. It packs a slim 150W power supply; it's not possible to power this notebook via a USB C input. The notebook weighs 4.59 lbs and does not scream gaming in appearance but looks like a black business computer. It has a Lithium-Ion 54Wh battery. It arrives with Microsoft Windows 11 Home which needed several updates in the days I evaluated and used the laptop. It is matte black finish, and the keyboard can be color selected using the Gigabyte application to 15 colors. I chose the dark yellow for contrast. It is equipped with a 13th Gen Intel® Core™ i7 processor. This unit had the Intel i7 125650H CPU which uses 75 watts per Gigabyte. It has 16 GB of DDR5 4800 RAM and is capable of accepting up to 2x 32 GB modules for a total of 64 GB RAM. The motherboard has room for 2X SSD Gen4 M.2 modules. The model I reviewed is equipped with 512 GB of SSD M.2. It has another slot for a second M.2 module to the left of the main installed slot. Video is powered by Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 with 8GB DDR6 dedicated RAM which can support 4K and 8K displays via HDMI or Displayport with the unit having both of those ports on the back. Audio is produced by DTS: X™ Ultra which brings true 3D surround effect and Two-Way AI Noise Cancelation per Gigabyte. When connected to external speakers the sound is very good. The built-in speakers are 2 watts each. There is a web cam of 1 Mbyte HD resolution with a FN key on/off switch but no shutter. There are 2 microphones adjacent to the camera. WiFi is Intel based 6E and Bluetooth is version 5.2. As indicated, the laptop has a matte anti-reflective finish. Pictures and text and numbers look very sharp and bright. The G5 KF5 is also equipped with the WINDFORCE cooling technology, which helps keep the laptop cool even during high-load game playing or under multimedia processing. The fans are almost silent when not gaming and barely noisy when. As with most laptops, one must not use the unit on sheets, or other surfaces which will not allow air to flow in from the bottom since this will affect CPU and GPU cooling. Twin fans pull air in and out through the back vents and should not be obstructed with anything that produces excess lint or dust. Ports: 1 x USB 2.0 port (Type A) 1 x USB 3.2 Gen 1 port (Type A) 2 x USB 3.2 Gen 2 port (Type C) 1 x Mini DP 1.4 1 x HDMI™ (with HDCP) 1 x 2-in-1 Audio Jack (Headphone / Microphone) 1 x Microphone Jack 1 x RJ-45 LAN gigabit port 1 x DC-in jack for the charger adapter 1 x MicroSD Card Reader It is a capable gaming and general-purpose laptop and as I stated it gives a “sleeper” appearance of being a general-purpose machine but indeed it performs very well with video gaming and high intensive use gaming demands.

The laptop is gaming really well, however the webcam is horrible quality and flickers from bright to super dark almost constantly.. I've tried to fix it but it seems like an issue with the laptop its self. The speakers aren't the greatest either.

This is a very fast laptop with a strong gaming video card. However, there are two drawbacks that I find glaring and kept this to 3 stars for me. First, the power connector on the back of the laptop is a NIGHTMARE. Did you just move? It got unplugged. Moved your feet and touched the cord? It got unplugged. Thought about moving? Unplugged. Just know this laptop is best used on a flat tabletop, rather than on your lap on a couch or elsewhere. Second, there are no dedicated home or end keys. A real drawback if you're as addicted to using those keys as I am. So, yes, fast laptop, but what were they thinking with that power connector? Put it on the side and make it longer so it doesn't fall out when the wind blows or a cat walks by.

Great starter gaming laptop, no issues setting up and getting games up and running. Added a temp monitor and when running large graphic intense programs, more than one, some of the cores get close to max temp periodically, a cooling tray may be desired but not required IMO.

Perfect for what I need. We’re able to play games on steam. I was able to set up Virtual Desktop to connect my Quest2 after a tweak or two. I expanded my storage by easily adding 2TB in the expansion slot. My family is very happy with their Christmas gift this year.

Meh, loaded with bloatware and mediocre stuff. You get what you pay for. It will be totally obselete in 4 years. Don't know why they call this high-end gaming. My 1080-ti is better than a 4060 anyday.

Overall, the Gigabyte KF5 laptop that we have here is a great budget-friendly computer. This base machine improved on last year's K5 version and still kept things good enough at a reasonable price to consider it for many different builds. For starters, the actual components are completely reasonable at this price point: -i7-12650h -16GB 2400mhz RAM (improving on last years 8GB machine) -512 m.2 SSD -RTX4060 65W GPU -backlight keyboard -144hz 1080p screen Upon unboxing, you'll find a pretty standard experience, that wasn't too heavy on the branding aspect. The laptop is visually appealing as well, it's not too gaming oriented to draw attention when out and about. Booting up for the first time Windows 11 needed an update that took my machine about an hour to do. There was also a firmware update for the KF5 itself, which was expected as well. After all that was finished I installed CPU-Z and GPU-Z to grab the specs of the laptop itself. Again, I was surprised at the GPU and RAM. But, if you aren't upgrading the internals is an easy process. There are two m.2 slots and the RAM supports 64GB of DDR5 to keep the machine humming for a few years. The i7-12650h will suffice for most people moving forward. The RTX4060 is the real reason you're grabbing this laptop, though, and with the 65W TDP you're in good hands. It's also fairly lightweight at 4.6lbs according to my scale. There are enough ports and in good spots to suffice most connections, and I really like when companies place certain ports on the rear of the laptop housing, rather than all on the sides. As mentioned, the bottom panel of the laptop has ample cutouts for airflow, and also showcases the nice looking cooling panels that are copper accented. The panel is removable with a few screws and easily accessible. Ports: 2 USB A, 2 USB C, 1 HDMI, 1 DP, 1 Micro SD, 1 GB Ethernet. All that said, now it was time to test the device out. I had high hopes for good 1080p gaming with this machine, and suffice to say I wasn't disappointed. All games I threw at it could handle High/Ultra graphics settings, and could push out everything over 60FPS. The only exclusion from that list was Starfield, which still was a respectable 52fps for me at Ultra settings. Legitimately, you don't need to worry about not getting the most out of this machine. The biggest concerns with this machine, to me, are as follows. For starters, the keyboard is merely ok. The trackpad is also just ok. Most likely you'll be pairing it with an external mouse/keyboard, but something to consider. Also, the keyboard only has a few different color combos. The biggest problem, though, is fan noise. This thing is a very loud machine, which is going to happen with a laptop, but the fans kick up fast and hard. You can control this, of course, but the fans are still loud running at 50%. This also means the keyboard area does have hotspots, and gets warm to the touch. That said, if you can get past those couple of issues, you have a pretty enticing package here to work with. I'd recommend to most and feel it's a good value right now.

Do not be fooled by the specs on this laptop. I have not had this laptop for long, and unfortunately the battery is already showing signs of wear as it will drain very quickly. My sister has also had trouble with Roblox of all things on this laptop, lots of lag and the laptop overheats from running it. I bought this laptop so that I could use video editing software, so this is disappointing. I regret spending my money on this subpar product.

Bought it during a sale last Dec. (saved 450). For what you're getting it's pretty nice. Fast. a bit small of a screen for most games, but for casual stuff its pretty good. I usually just hook it up to a monitor to mitigate this. Around Oct. the cpu/gpu fan in the laptop started running slow and making noise. It's dual fan system so one side can be running fine, while the other can have problems. I say this because I was turned away when bringing it in for service the year parts & labor warrant but was turned away. I was told "they do not work with gigabyte on warrant issues" I also was told if I bought the part myself, they'd install it for me. So I figured ehhh not too bad until you go to find out you have to buy the entire fan replacement (both cpu&gpu) which is around $80-$120 depending on where you look... Sooo yea I'd stay away from Gigabyte and Bestbuy and try elsewhere. Newegg is a great electronic's alternative with actual support..
