Customers are saying

Customers regard the G6 KF 16" Gaming Laptop's performance, RAM, and graphics capabilities very positively, frequently praising its speed and visual quality. However, the laptop's relatively loud fan noise and shorter battery life are common criticisms. Many appreciate the screen size and refresh rate, while some find the device's heat generation to be a concern during extended use. The price point is also frequently cited as a significant advantage.

The laptop is awesome but best buy service is lacking immensely. I had to return one and re order and they say it will be here next day. Wake up next day and the order is delayed. Don’t make promises you can’t keep. I had to turn in laptop and now can’t use it. If you can’t get something delivered like you say then be upfront. Call customer service and of course they don’t care.

Windows updates are barely updating and will constantly be on a restart period when restarted. I will definitely not recommend this laptop to anyone. It seems more trouble that what it's worth. Great specs but performance is subpar with a number of issues. I'd return it but it's currently unreturnable.

Garbage. I never leave bad reviews, but people beware. Bought in August for my freshman in HS. It was recommended as a good option for him by a Best Buy rep. By January a key fell off (not even a highly used one) and then the top half of the screen went out. Not covered by the manufacturer warranty, even though nothing was done to cause it. Literally worked one minute, then glitched out the next while our child was sitting at our kitchen counter completing work for a class. For $1200, this is unacceptable. DO NOT BUY.

This little laptop packs a punch! The fact that this comes with 32 GB of DDR5 RAM and a 1TB SSD means you don't have to spend any extra money upgrading (unless you want to of course). The 1920 by 1200 resolution is perfect for this 16-inch panel. At 165Hz, I don't see the refresh rate ever being an issue for a while. It handled most games at medium to high settings. The fan noise is what you'd expect from a gaming laptop, but if you're in the market for one we both know you don't care about that haha. The heat is also about what you'd you'd expect. I'd recommend using a stand or something to lift the back end to improve airflow. The build quality is actually really nice, and not too flashy. I have rather large hands and the keyboard feels comfortable to type on. You can also change the colors on the keyboard, so that's a plus. It has ports galore, and even a mini Display Port which is my favorite part about this laptop. It comes with Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2. It also has an Ethernet port for those ultra-low-latency gaming sessions. If you're looking for an entry to mid-level gaming laptop that you do not have to upgrade at all, this one is a great option! Extremely plug-and-play friendly.

Immediately started experiencing freezing after opening and setting up the laptop. I also read that people were having crashing issues while gaming. I returned it as as soon as I read about that.

There's a lot I like about this gaming laptop. For one, it doesn't scream "gaming laptop" - this machine is nondescript enough that you could bring it into a business setting without a second glance, particularly if you set the keyboard backlight color to white. For another, it's not absurdly heavy - I can carry it around without needing a proper backpack to avoid giving myself back pain. The display has a pretty good viewing angle, and the trackpad is responsive and not annoying to use. I've been able to put it on my lap while playing Minecraft without burning myself or making my legs go numb, and while I can't crank modern AAA games up to maximum settings it plays them well enough. I haven't had any issues playing Borderlands 3 on low settings, and older games run pretty well at max. One thing that I really appreciate is that Gigabyte included a very large microfiber cloth to protect the keyboard and screen in the box. One of the flaws about this machine is that it's really bad about staining from skin oils, and it's extremely obvious where you touch it the most. The cloth has been really great for wiping all that off, though - which is great because it's a little embarrassing to have your laptop constantly looking as though you were gaming on it while eating greasy food with your fingers. It's also nice that the cloth is so big - I haven't lost it, which is more than I can say about a lot of the other microfiber cloths I've received with some other devices I own. I feel like this section might sound a little sarcastic, but I do genuinely appreciate that cloth. As for the hardware, it's pretty alright. There's a decent selection of input and output ports that allow me to have all my gaming peripherals plugged in at once, as well as an Ethernet port and a microSD port. I haven't opened the laptop yet, but I did see that Gigabyte included an SSD standoff and cooling pad, which is a nice thought. I also like that the charger brick isn't ridiculously large and heavy. The control software, which seems pretty simple as far as control software goes, includes a feature to limit battery charging to prevent it from wearing out, which is nice. I'm also glad to see that Gigabyte didn't pack this machine with a bunch of extra programs I don't need. The battery also seems to be relatively functional - I've had no issues with the computer complaining that the battery can't power it fully or just randomly shutting off when I remove the charger while gaming. The charger does fit securely, which is nice. There are a few things I'm not really a fan of. For one, there's no biometric unlock. I also feel like the screen is a little washed-out, though admittedly I haven't dug very deeply into the settings to see if I can fix it. You also have to hold down the power button to get it to turn on, rather than just pressing it. While this isn't horrible, I did think that the laptop was DOA when I first tried to get it running. Overall, it's a really basic gaming laptop that would double nicely as a business laptop in a pinch. If you don't feel like you need all the extras like biometric unlock or RGB on the body, I'd say this is a pretty solid choice. I would absolutely recommend it.

Unfortunately I did have 2 issues, number 1 was as soon after I did set it the laptop this one has started lagging with and the system got froze for a few seconds (the entire windows system) then number 2 was where company place the Ethernet connector, wow it was terrible, unless you are a left handed, it is right where you place your mouse, very uncomfortable.

I am a person who is replacing a 4 year old "budget gaming laptop" by a different manufacturer and wanted something that was more state of the art and that was of a similar budget standpoint. OF NOTE ITEMS: The screen is beautiful. Initially windows set it up wrong and I fine tuned it to the correct settings and was blown away by the visual clarity and ability to get vibrant colors. Not only do I game with this, but I also took the time to do some video editing and this worked far better than I was expecting. No stuttering in previews of the video. I am not a cutting edge gamer, but I can tell you that the difference in the 4 year old laptop and this one was striking. I did set my computer to "performance" mode and keep it plugged in. The quandry that I had was the display is good enough to not need the external monitor that my older laptop needed even though the basic size of the screens were similar. 32 GB of DDR5 ram. This enhanced the experience! 1 TB of SSD storage. Based upon my real life experience, I never store data on the same drive where the OS and programs are stored and had an existing data drive that I used a usb c connection to interact and this worked flawlessly. WINDOWS EXPERIENCE This is the first time that I had where I was asked to replicate another Windows 11 computer onto this one including the basic app icons. I have learned to love One Drive and have an account and it was nice to have a visual reminder of what programs I needed to reinstall and the exe's are stored on my One Drive along with the keys so I was able to quickly bring this up to snuff with my everyday computer. As the old laptop was too limited to do video editing, this replication of my daily user allowed me to incorporate the video edit software to test more easily than if I had to hunt it down later. I have not had any issues with Windows other than the wrong screen aspect ratio and settings, but that was resolved in under 10 seconds by knowing what it should have been and manually correcting. OTHER COMMENTS I noted in my title that if you only could buy one computer and you needed to be able to do more than to just play games, at this price point, you'd be hard pressed to find a better laptop. The size is big enough to be a desktop while not being too heavy or thick to make portable as needed. I was not a fan of the keyboard though it is well lit. On some computers my fingers just go to the right spot so I can touch type immediately. My hands never found the keyboard sweet spot on the first try. The keyboard backlighting is wonderful and the keys are clear to read at night, however. You can change colors and settings in the gigabyte app installed. SSD performance. Coming from the older computer to this one, the write and read speeds were in the 3000-5000 range which was a definite improvement. Gaming. I assume that if you are buying a gaming computer at this price point you understand the limitations of frame rates that are presented, but this is really performing above its paygrade in many aspects including on the video edit side of things. Heat. I did not notice any heat issues when using this. I did not mess with any settings other than to put this in performance. OVERALL REFLECTION This is my first Gigabyte computer and it will not be my last. Overall quality of construction and presentation and choices for equipment are far above many other competitive brands. 32 gigs of Ram is not a joke and having a 1 TB drive included is also a step up. If you must have one laptop, this is a machine that makes few compromises to get you something you won't be embarrassed to use. As a sidebar, my wifi speeds were pushing 800 on the upload and download on my 940 rated fiber optic. And the wired was hitting 920 or above on both up and download. No joke there either.
