The GYGABYTE GAMING A16 laptop is a very well-built machine. For my liking i believe it lacks a touch screen. However, it is a very well-built laptop, it feels very sturdy just like a tank. The This laptop has the Intel Core i7 and it is a 165Hz, so the response is good enough for most games. The screen does fold to a 180 degree so it can be laid almost flat. The charger is a somewhat outdated charging system since most laptops now offer a USB-C charging port and this one does not. However, it does have enough USB post that will fit most gamer set ups, and if needed extensions could be added but would have to be bought separately. The graphic is very nice and offer a good color profile. The keyboard does have the option to change colors and or leave it off to help conserve battery life. The battery life is really good but if your game demands more juice you will need to have your charger nearby. Overall, this is a very well-built laptop with great graphics and it is nice looking. It is built like a tank and will last many gaming sessions.

    A mid-tier hi-performing gaming laptop-Minor quirk

The Gigabyte Gaming A16 is a powerful laptop designed for serious gaming offering impressive performance in a sleek, aesthetically pleasing, powerful package that boasts top-tier hardware and a great design. Paired with the I7-13620H and the capable RTX 5060 in a gaming-themed design, it is a performance powerhouse in a light and portable package. Key takeaways + Basic, Gimate UI software + Lightweight, sturdy and thin + Camera compliant with Windows Hello + Effective cooling + Excellent screen + Potential VRAM limitations + Small arrow keys DESIGN The laptop's "Black Steel" finish looks clean and professional, and the unique styling encompassing various grills for cooling along the rear and sides make it a solid with a premium feel. This dual exhaust, labeled "WINDFORCE Cooling Technology", seems to work tremendously during gaming sessions as the keyboard nor the frame heats up to any extreme range. The screen offers wide viewing angles but I've yet to find any reasonable use of the 180⁰ hinge aside from the most obvious, prevent damage from overextension. The I/O is well thought out offering a split number of inputs along the sides of the PC. The keyboard, marketed as the "Golden Curve Keyboard," offers a comfortable typing experience. The large keys provide a satisfying, yet quiet typing experience. The Gimate button is easily accessible from the upper right corner of the keyboard. I'm just not a big fan of the size of the arrow keys. PERFORMANCE This is where it truly shines. The G16's powerful Intel I7-13620H processor, combined with the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 GPU with 8GB VRAM, 32GB DDR5 RAM and 1TB M.2 PCIe SSD provides quick loading times and a great balance between gaming and productivity tasks. It offers smooth gameplay and powerful rendering capabilities in a variety of modern games or demanding software. Add the 16" vibrant screen and 165hz refresh rate for a fantastic combination. Running games from Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Assassin's Creed Odyssey, Armored Core IV, Ashes of the Singularity, Starfield, and Genshin Impact have all run at medium to ultra settings with a moderate FPS. The inclusion of a Windows Hello compatible webcam is a huge plus and makes for easy facial recognition access to your machine. The cooling system and design of the laptop make for keeping temps cool and within acceptable ranges. ISSUES/QUIRKS The Gigabyte bundled, Gimate software is mostly fine. It did, however, cause what seemed a conflict with other aspects. The RGB seems very unpolished, it offers 4 preset pattern modes and minor customization options such as color change speed and a specific color type, but lacks any meaningful personalized customization. Customization such as painting individual keys a certain color; WASD in red, 1234 in green, CTRL/ALT in blue, Arrow keys in another color, etc. Interacting with Gimate is fine as this became the initial route I took to change RGB patterns, as the underlying portion of the software that handles that is deeply nested within Gimate and can become difficult to locate. The biggest quirk, which seemed like a Gimate produced issue, was soon after first booting the machine and applying updates, an update initiated through the Gimate software seemed to remove the Nvidia GPU drivers. I didn't realize this until running a game and noticing choppy FPS and sluggish animations. Poking around revealed that the GPU was no longer being used as the graphics source. When applying the Gimate software update, one of the warning prompts seemed to imply it was applying an update to the firmware of the laptop and warning about terminating or powering off during the update. Eventually, it forced a reboot and the drivers were seemingly no longer available. I must add that during this update, Windows update was doing it's own updates. I include this as I'm aware that often times, Windows update, when it's repos aren't properly updated to current GPU drivers, can remove or downgrade good working drivers to unsupported or partially working drivers with your own current configuration making it mandatory to reinstall correct drivers to fix a bad update. This seems like it wasn't the case here but point this out as it could be what causes this same issue for someone else Overall, the Gigabyte A16 is a powerful contender in the gaming bracket. Suitable for both gamers and creative individuals looking for a portable option. The A16 offers a striking yet polished appearance with raw computational power ready to be set free. If Gimate was a little more polished, this could be a potential option for someone that needs more configuration options out of their lighting, for either display aesthetics or gaming comfort. Additionally, with today's growing requirements for gaming, 8GB VRAM might be seen as just enough to get by for a limited period of time. This is worth 4-stars.

I thought I was done with gaming laptops after getting a gaming handheld pc. Who needs to carry around a big heavy thing with a power brick when everything charges via USB-C? Of course, I was completely wrong about what I thought I needed when I started up live streaming gaming sessions. It turns out that I needed ports. Lots of them. And for this reason alone, I'm giving the Gigabyte A16 gaming laptop a big thumbs up. It also plays games pretty well. Currently connected to the laptop to run the stream are: 2 mirrorless cameras, 1 teleprompter, 1 USB powered light, 1 USB 3.0 hub with 2 macro pads attached via USB, 1 receiver for a wireless lavalier microphone, and an external monitor via HDMI, plus the power adapter. The laptop has enough juice to power everything (the USB hub has external power), and there is sufficient juice to power everything without overloading the USB controllers. On top of all that, the laptop was able to run the streaming software and the game itself without a hitch. In my testing, I did notice that sometimes programs would have a delay between double clicking the icon to launch and actually having the program show up. I'm not sure if it's the Gigabyte Gi software that uses AI to, well, I'm not really sure what it does. It offers me various power settings based on the sort of work that I'm doing, and lets me change it around, maybe to conserve power? I'd like to just crank the settings to all max all the time and leave it there and never have to deal with it again, since I do plan to leave it plugged in all the time. I like that there are battery saver options to keep the battery charged at 80% max, as well as a 60% extreme battery saver mode. The fans tend to kick in early, especially when playing 3d games, but they never got very loud. The volume never got high enough to get picked up on the microphones I use when streaming, which is a plus. I also like that there is a FHD webcam, which surprised me because the last couple gaming laptops I had did not have a webcam at all. The keyboard is a chiclet style, with what they are calling a Golden Curve, which is marketing speak for oversized keys with an optimized ratio between the actuation force needed to press the button and the 1.7mm of distance that the keys need to travel to register. I didn't find typing to be any different from any other laptop keyboard. The sci-fi looking legends on the keys themselves fiti in well with the rest of the laptop's cyber theme. I threw on the usual set of games, and they all played well at high graphics settings. The only hitch that was consistent was the delay in applications starting after being launched. I'm going to have to investigate this more, because it can get really annoying, especially with applications that don't like to be launched again after an instance has started. I double click an icon, wait a few seconds to see if it did anything, double click it again, then the program starts, and then another window appears, it gets old quick. I'll try disabling it entirely to see if this corrects my issues, but first I'll check if it's addressed in a software update. For what I needed it to be, this laptop has exceeded all of my expectations. I can connect every device that I need to be productive, and for a gaming laptop it really isn't that thick or heavy, and the fans aren't that loud while still keeping the pc pretty cool considering the workload. I don't really understand why it's an important feature to have the hinge open up flat, but it does and it looks quite fragile in that position, so if you like looking down that far and straining your neck, have at it.

You get a lot for this gaming laptop . 32 GB DDR RAM and a GTX 5060 GPU. The screen size is 16” and I just say that as I know there are people who prefer 17-18” gaming screens when going with a laptop. This also has a standard keyboard but no separate number pad which I usually prefer, but for the price versus what you get I can live without that. The screen also will open 180 degrees flat if for some reason you want/need to do that… Another question I’m usually asked is how the cooling is. Not seeing any issues with heat and (Time will tell) the system has what they call “WINDFORCE Cooling technology” which is a 2 fan system and better channeling of the air flow. If I’m understanding that right. You definitively hear the fans running, which is good. Regardless I always use a cooling stand for my gaming laptop and haven’t been disappointed yet. The power brick is smaller than my last few laptops which is nice. It’s not near the brick I’ve had in some of my systems. As I aways do, I load up a gameand see what it can do. I don’t play overly taxing games usually. Mainly simulations and survivals. So far with one of my more taxing game saves it has run it without issues and I believe I’ll be good for the foreseeable future.. I hope :) Screen is very vibrant and the graphics pop as you’d expect. Other than going all out and gaming desktop I don’t see a reason to not give this beauty a go. So if you’re looking for a great running gaming laptop for what I believe is a very good price, you can not go wrong with this system.

Powerful Video Card in a Sleek Laptop

Very sleek laptop, I had a chance to play around with it for about a few weeks and really enjoyed it. THE BUILD The quality of the build feels really good in your hands, there is a nice weight to it and there isn't much flex when opening or closing the screen. It doesn't have the best hinges as you need 2 hands to open the lid. The CPU/RAM The processor a 13th Gen i7 and 32GB DDR5 ram makes for a very good combo when multi-tasking and gaming. I am pretty happy to see it doesn't come with 16GB as is the trend I have been seeing lately. COOLING The new WINDFORCE system keeps the temp down but it is pretty loud, I don't mind it because I game with headphones on or at loud volume so the loud fan ramping up does not bother me. I know it says the Gigabyte GiMate AI Cooling feature advertises noise free immersion but that isn't the case so be aware. PD 3.0 This is a minor thing but for me the fast charging provided by the USB4 Type C is awesome. I game a little and in the meantime I plug my phone and it's charged in no time- very convenient. SCREEN/RAM The combination of the HI-RES screen with 165 refresh rate and Nvidia 5060 make for some awesome gaming. There is not much lag, tearing, or stutter. It provides nice smooth gameplay- only wish it were OLED screen but the IPS screen works well enough. CON I didn't care for the 180 degree lid, i don't see the need and It has not come in handy for me. In that case they could have made it 360 degrees and made it double as a tablet or it would have given you the option of tenting it up so that you can prop it up as a screen. I also wish it had a number pad, the number pad is always convenient regardless of the gaming laptop purpose, it helps with all other productivity besides gaming. OVERALL a fun laptop with a good video card/CPU and ram- it's main purpose is gaming and it feels that way.

This gaming laptop is definitely a nice entry point into "high end" gaming. It boasts some pretty good specs on paper with an i7 processor and a 50 series RTX graphics card. It worked well In most regular gameplay but seemed to struggle in games with higher graphical intensity. Another issue I came across with it was it was very loud! They advertise a 0db ambience system for quiet operation but I don't think it applies to higher end gaming or when the computer is put in gaming mode. That being said the positive side was it ran incredibly cool even during those high stress moments. (despite the laggy issues.) The display is bright and color accurate and keeps up with the refresh rate of the games I played. Which made colors pop and HDR mode in many games feel very immersive. It's pretty lightweight thanks to the design of the chassis and I also think that helps with the heat dispersion however that may prove to be a detriment down the road. Overall I feel that this is a pretty good middle weight gaming laptop. It certainly has it's pitfalls and is obviously not as strong as ones containing higher intel chips or RTX 50 series graphics cards. However, given what it is, a better budget gaming laptop may be hard to come by.

Pleasantly surprised with all around performance

This is the first gigabyte product I’ve had the opportunity to use and review so I went into the unboxing with zero expectations. I’ve tested and frequently use other gaming type laptops so I was anticipating a solid and heavier laptop but was still surprised at the weight of the package when it showed up. When I opened the laptop I was pleasantly surprised at the sleek appearance and it was definitely packaged well. The charger is bigger and heavier than the gaming laptop I use daily however this one does seem to fully charge faster so that’s a bonus. The laptop usually remains at my desk so portability wasn’t a huge driver for me, however this did fit in my laptop backpack and my laptop purse if I do decide to travel with it. The battery life is comparable to other gaming laptops I’ve tried, running a game on just battery lasted maybe and hour and a half. It does charge pretty fast. Cord length is good, I like to hide my cables on my desk when possible and that was easy enough with this cord. The graphics were decent with gaming and the little bit of video editing I attempted. The copilot integration is kind of neat as I do use the laptop for a mix of gaming and media creation. The cooling fans don’t seem any louder than other brands I’ve reviewed. Same issue with any other gaming laptop that you don’t want to have it laying flat and block the fans as they do get quite hot. I tested out call of duty warzone and my son tested out Minecraft, both performed as expected for a gaming laptop. This paired well with my monitor for editing as I prefer to use multiple screens. My only complaints are the keyboard feels a little flimsy in the middle but I’m a fast and aggressive typer so that may be more of a me issue. The RGB is a nice touch as I prefer to game in low lighting and the colorful lights are just fun. And the initial setup took longer than the last two laptops I used, I’m not sure if that is a windows issue or a gigabyte issue though. These seems to be a decent multiuse laptop and the price point seems reasonable.

    I Really Like This Laptop

The GIGABYTE - GAMING A16 (16" 165Hz 1920x1200 WUXGA Intel Core i7-13620H - 1TB SSD - 32GB DDR5 RAM - GeForce RTX 5060 - Black Steel) is a good value for a medium-level gaming laptop. PC gaming used to be a desktop computer-only affair. But, today, there are powerful laptops, built for gaming, offering performance that will satisfy the vast majority of gamers. The high-end units are impressive, expensive, and very heavy. However, there’s an increasing number of companies competing for the entry-level to medium-level laptop gaming market. As a result, it’s not hard to find a decent gaming laptop for the casual to mid-range gamer. The GIGABYTE - GAMING A16 is one of those. I like this laptop for a number of reasons - especially for it’s price-range. * It sports plenty of power and solid graphics * It offers a 1TB SSD storage * It includes 32GB of DDR5 Ram! (Especially nice) * The display is beautiful and the 16” size means you can enjoy gaming on the laptop alone. * It is thin and light * It does not include a bunch of fancy flashing lights for style (This is a matter of taste. I’m not a fan of laptop ‘bling’). This also makes it more palatable as a general-purpose laptop. I really like this laptop. Any issues? The only thing I encountered was a slight misalignment of some of the ports. I encountered this when plugging in both an HDMI cable and a USB dongle. It wasn’t a big thing because both went in and worked fine. But it did require giving the process a little more attention than I’m used to. Definitely recommend the GIGABYTE - GAMING A16.

The Gigabyte Gaming A16 laptop is a very capable laptop that can handle any game you throw at it. While it is not super flashy with RGB pouring out from all angles, it is still a really good laptop that does its job very well. You get lots of ram coming in at 32 GB, a great processor and a very solid RTX 5060 for those graphic-intense games. You’ll also get a 1TB SSD to get you started. While this laptop comes with everything you need to game out of the box, I’d recommend adding more storage space. Games these days are incredibly large in size and you will definitely want that extra storage. Certainly not required, but something you might want to add down the road. I’ve been playing Overwatch, Red Dead redemption 2 and various other games and frames are not an issue. For example, I was pulling about 80-90 FPS on Cyberpunk 2077 ultra settings. Frame rates will vary depending on your settings, of course, but I’d say the Gigabyte A16 does the job very well. The full HD+ display is great. You get plenty of pixels to display your games and everything I have played looks really great. Battery life will vary drastically depending on what you are doing, obviously. I’ve never owned a laptop where I didn’t just have it plugged in. You’ll get several hours for YouTube or content consumption. Any AAA title will nuke the battery in 1-2 hours, however. Overall, I really like this laptop. It does what I need it to, fits in my bag and is a solid, well-built machine.

Great laptop with some small quirks. The Gimate AI feature is quirky and doesn't always work or is delayed. I found it best to just disable it. The MUX switching is problematic. Half the time it gets stuck on the internal HD graphics and the only way I can get it to recognize the RTX 5060 is to restart the laptop. I also had to uninstall the included drivers and then reinstall the geforce drivers directly from the Nvidia website. These are just small issues and I believe, with a software update, they can be optimized to perform very well. That being said, once I had figured this all out and got the laptop running good, I am very impressed with it's gaming performance. I played a few different games, all recent titles, and I have the say the visuals and gameplay were outstanding. For a laptop of this price point, I am happy. I was getting anywhere from 80 to 150 frames per second and the resolution and graphics were set to max settings. First person shooters played so smoothly and racing games were flawless. I thought it would cost well over $2000+ to get this kind of gaming performance. Battery life is good. Storage is good but with today's games being such large files, it'd be nice to have a larger ssd. Overall, it's a great laptop for any gamer at a wonderful price point.

The GIGABYTE - GAMING A16 Laptop is a pretty powerful device. My overall experience with it was nothing short of impressive. At first, I was very skeptical as it seemed a little smaller than my last gaming laptop, and it didn't have 10 10-key keyboard, which is a big deal for me. Once the initial setup was complete, which didn't take too long, but you can't control how long the operating system takes, and once I ran the updates from Gigabyte I was ready to start gaming. At first, I just gamed for about thirty minutes and had some fun, but then I really wanted to put this thing to the test, and I began to live stream myself gaming, and the laptop held up really well. You could definitely tell that there was some strain on the CPU/GPU and memory while this was taking place, but overall, it went well. The laptop isn't big and bulky like other gaming laptops, and easily fits in most laptop backpacks. For what it is, I consider it very lightweight. Overall, if you bought this laptop, I don't think you would be disappointed.

I was excited to receive for evaluation and review this Gigabyte A16 16" Gaming Laptop. With a 1TB SSD and 32GB RAM it sounded like a really great gaming laptop. The Gigabyte A16 comes loaded with: 16" display panel, illuminated keyboard with multi-lighting settings, , microphone, webcam with a webcam indicator, touchpad, ethernet, HDMI 2.1 and USB 3.2 A & C ports, power indicator, speakers, audio combo jack and dual cooling fans. After unboxing the Gigabyte A16, it took very little time to plug it in and begin to set it up the way I wanted it to be. The gaming laptop comes equipped with Windows 11 preinstalled along with Microsoft security and other Microsoft software. There was very little, if any, junk software that sometimes comes with other computers. The Gigabyte A16 exterior is made of a black metal. The Gigabyte A16 is an extremely nice well designed and built laptop, somewhat heavy due to its metal jacket and high-speed gaming components, and easy to set up and get running. The speed of this gaming laptop is excellent and keyboard nicely illuminated and easy to adapt to. I do not hesitate to recommend the Gigabyte A16 Gaming Laptop to you!

Great laptop but with Gigabyte AI software garbage

Gigabyte's newest Gaming A16 GA6H is unfortunately another example of how a manufacturer can make a great product, and then they feel the need to add unnecessary AI "improvements" that no one needs or asked for. Hardware: The Gaming A16 features an Intel Core i7-13620H processer and a NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 Laptop GPU with 8GB GDDR7. This particular configuration has a 1TB PCIe NVMe M.2 SSD and 32GB of DDR5 RAM all packed into a 16" 165Hz 1920x1200 panel that looks amazing. The hardware is great and it makes the Gaming A16 a more than capable mid to high-end gaming laptop with great cooling in a nicely designed case. While I personally feel that 16" laptops are on the larger end of portable, the larger display is nice if you are actually gaming on the go. The additional space also makes it easier to cool which is a nice benefit of these larger laptops. Software: GiMATE, Gigabytes entry into the AI garbage that no one needs and no one asked for. The software takes all of the actual useful features that were already included in Gigabyte's previous management software and adds useless AI bloat to help you more "easily" manage stuff that doesn't need to be managed. Their previous software already included automatic power, performance, and cooling optimization which they now attribute to AI, the ability for the AI to help you quickly find what you are looking for used to just be called search. The only thing that they look to have added is their AI privacy which lets you know when someone is possibly looking at your screen. It will then either notify you or switch content automatically, this sounds like a huge privacy concern to me and also a huge inconvenience if you are using this in a crowded area or even in an office environment. Verdict: While I don't feel that Gigabyte has made the correct choice by changing their software to the new GiMATE, I also don't feel like it causes enough of an issue to not recommend this laptop. Find a way to disable the unneeded AI garbage and enjoy what is an extremely powerful gaming laptop.
