Really great monitor for the price! I bought specifically for playing Xbox Series X and PS5 on and it is capable of using the highest settings, except DolbyVision. That really isn’t a big deal. Overall very happy with this monitor. The built in KVM is nice although it doesn’t always seem to work perfectly, so I usually don’t bother using it. That could be user error though.

I recently upgraded my gaming setup with the GIGABYTE M28U 28" LED 4K UHD FreeSync Premium Pro SS IPS Gaming Monitor with HDR, and I must say, it's been quite the game-changer. The first thing that struck me was the stunning visual quality. The 4K UHD resolution brings games to life with crisp detail and vibrant colors. Whether I'm exploring vast open worlds or engaging in intense firefights, every moment feels incredibly immersive thanks to the monitor's impressive clarity and color accuracy. The inclusion of FreeSync Premium Pro technology ensures buttery-smooth gameplay, eliminating any stuttering or tearing for a seamless experience. Combined with the fast response time, I've noticed a significant improvement in my gaming performance, with actions feeling more responsive and precise than ever before. HDR support further enhances the visuals, delivering deeper blacks and brighter highlights for an even more dynamic picture. Whether I'm traversing dark dungeons or basking in the glow of a sun-soaked landscape, the HDR implementation adds an extra layer of realism to every scene. Connectivity options are plentiful, with HDMI, DisplayPort, and USB ports providing ample flexibility for connecting various devices. The inclusion of USB ports also comes in handy for charging peripherals or connecting other accessories without the need for additional hubs. The design of the monitor is sleek and modern, with slim bezels maximizing the screen real estate for a truly immersive viewing experience. The adjustable stand allows for customization of viewing angles, ensuring optimal comfort during extended gaming sessions. Overall, the GIGABYTE M28U exceeds expectations in every aspect. From its stunning visual quality and smooth performance to its versatile connectivity options and ergonomic design, it's undoubtedly one of the best gaming monitors I've had the pleasure of using. If you're in the market for a high-performance gaming monitor that doesn't compromise on quality, look no further than the GIGABYTE M28U. Highly recommended.

Due to Best Buy's amazing return policy, the best thing for you to do is get this and see if you like it in person with your set-up. Personally, it checked all my boxes and sated my want for a monitor that could output all that my PS5 could muster. Now the one complaint I do have.... There is 1 dead pixel that I did not notice until about a month after I bought it. I will say though, I havent noticed it again since the day I saw it.... but still for 700 OOD, I would have expected something like that to have been caught by any competant QA at Gigabyte. Unfortunately, it seems to be somewhat common and getting a perfect panel is something of a lottery. That said, if it has 3 or more dead pixels, your eligible for a replacement through Best Buy's protection plan (which I highly recommend for something like this monitor), so I'm not upset about it. I do get why some people would be pretty ticked off though, as some people WILL notice it everytime they look at the screen. All in all, get this monitor for gaming, you will not regret it BUT check for dead pixels the second it is plugged in on an all white/black/ and colored background. If it passes, you won! If not, get an exchange until Gigabyte finally knocks the dust off their QA department and dead pixels aren't the norm.

I am coming from using an older Samsung UE590 60hz 4K Monitor and the difference is night and day. The high refresh rate is very noticeable if you are coming from a monitor with a lower rating. This monitor is definitely worth the price and it seems on par with LG’s 4K offerings. HDR does seem a bit brighter but I wouldn’t know as I don’t really do anything that requires this. Color accuracy is also something I have no clue about because I don’t do any production work. This is being purely used for Gaming and work from home. The unit that I received does not have any dead pixels and I do not hear any “coil whine” that has been reported in some of these reviews. Not sure how a monitor has coil whine but this one does not. I have this monitor connected to 3 different computers . A gaming PC, my work laptop, and an M1 Mac Mini connected via USB C. The KVM switch has been a great feature. Cons: There aren’t many. The USB cable to connect your PC to the monitor is needed to use the onscreen display to its fullest thru your PC.. This cable is a little too short for the set up I have with a sit stand desk.. If the desk is raised the cable will pop out. So you may want to buy an extension cable for this. Gigabyte included power cables for 3 regions. I only needed the US cable, the other 2 cables are going to be E waste as I will never use them.. I would have appreciated a USB C cable instead. But other than that this monitor is amazing and if you are using it for gaming and productivity work, you wont be disappointed. Buy with confidence

Just wow... was able to pick this up as a open box, but worth the buy at buying it new. You can hook up your Xbox/PS5 and get the new gen tec that the new consoles offer and is one of the best monitors for value and quality. Yes the frame may seem cheap, but you are paying for a high quality panel and it offers so much control for you to use. 4k at 144hz, that is all you need! Rocking this with a 3080 and having no issues running things at Ultra everything with RT on with DLSS Quality depending on the game! PC Spec at the time of the review you can compare to see if you can break over 60fps yes you can! i7-10700 Intel 10th Gen Gigabyte RTX 3080 64GB of DDR4 That is it! Go buy this I will be picking up 2 more for a triple wide set up!

Resolution, Refresh rate, and response time all top notch. HDR is pretty good as well. There is only one issue….there is no horizontal tilt adjustment. It’s so annoying when your monitor isn’t perfectly level with the desk. I have the 32” version as well and it has the adjustment. So why on earth would you leave it off the 28”. Who knows. But other than that the monitor is great.

First, the good stuff. Color quality and motion clarity of this monitor are outstanding. With the overdrive mode set to "Picture Quality," I observe no noticeable ghosting or overshoot artifacts. This means gaming with variable refresh rate with either a PC or current-gen console is an excellent overall experience. The HDMI ports are full-service 2.1 so you get the full 144 Hz refresh rate at 4K. The built-in KVM switch is also very handy if you want to control multiple PCs with a single mouse and keyboard combo. I also like how small the base of the stand is so it doesn't take up a lot of real estate. Lastly, it has an internal power supply so you won't have to deal with a separate brick on/under your desk. Now for the things that hold the M28U back from being among the best of the best in its size, feature, and price class. While the stand's base is small, it doesn't pivot or rotate so fine adjustments and/or a portrait orientation are out of the question without another stand or VESA mount. The firmware is user upgradable, however the process is slow, convoluted, and can take multiple attempts to perform. My biggest problem, though, is the screen's brightness or lack thereof. This is not a monitor you want to use in a well-lit environment. I had it in my office, which gets a lot of sun during the day, and I could barely see what was going on even with the display's brightness set at 100. If the cons mentioned above won't bother you, then the M28U is very much worth considering. Otherwise, you'll want to look elsewhere.

    Fantastic Monitor, one stuck pixel

This monitor rocks in nearly every way: 144 Hz is very smooth and motion performance is great for an LCD (specifically IPS) panel, the 4K resolution is killer for editing photos, and the controls are intuitive so I can easily switch between sRGB and FPS modes when using my desktop PC for productivity or for gaming. My only issue is that it came with one pixel that is stuck colored cyan. It's almost unnoticeable when looking at some sort of structured image such as gaming or a picture, but when the screen goes black it is obvious. Apparently this isn't significant enough to warrant it being DOA, which frustrates me. How can manufacturers decide its too expensive to ship 100% functional products and then make a standard where they can ship 99.9% perfect products next to 100% perfect products and price them all the same? Seems like motivation for passing regulatory egislation.

It's a good monitor for 4k, I didn't think 28" would be too big but it's decently big. The only issue and why I give it 4 stars is because when I try to do 1080p resolution, it gets blurry trying to downscale, so I'm stuck with 4k, for some games I'd want to downscale cause I can't run it on 4k, like CyberPunk 2077.

The perfect display - 4K means tiny little pixels for clear text and beautiful detail. The high refresh rate and 1ms response time means no flicker ever. I use it as my primary work display with work laptop and a third screen along side. This display ROCKS for text. So smooth and clear. And as a gaming display it's flat-out gorgeous. Unboxing is impressive, with clear instructions so you don't touch the display, and it comes with US, UK and Weird power cords! Must be Euro? Plus a really good HDMI cord, DisplayPort cable and USB-a to that really big square USB. Didn't realize it had KVM also... I'll have to think about whether I can use that or not. I just bought a KVM from Amazon for $250. It'd be nice if I could return that... Beautiful monitor tho. Is 28" too small? I don't think so. Leaving a curved 32" Dell for this, I don't feel like I have less room at all - in fact my desk feels bigger because there isn't a wall of crappy display in the middle of it.

Buy it if you like loud electrical buzzing

The M28U unit I purchased has a horrible electrical buzzing sound. I really liked the idea of the KVM switch so I could swap between my gaming PC and my work MacBookPro with USB-C. But the buzzing is unbearable. When you turn the brightness up the buzzing gets worse. I tried flashing the bios but it didn't fix the issue. I can't exchange the unit on BestBuy, as it's sold out, so I purchased a replacement on NewEgg. The buzzing on the second unit is just as bad but seems to go away if I bump the brightness to 100% . Other people on Reddit are reporting the same issue. Gigabyte's support is abysmal. They take a week to respond on their e-ticketing system and don't give you any real help to fix the issue. They have a phone number where you can leave a voicemail but I'm not sure why because they don't ever call you back. Other things to note: - The brightness is pretty low at the default setting - The KVM switch is slow - The KVM switch is on the back. This is a super dumb design. I have multiple monitors and have to move the other one out of the way just to click a button. Why not just put the switch on the front? Oh and while you are at it, use a quality switch that doesn't wiggle around like jello, it just feels super cheap. I would give this a 1* but the picture quality does seem good, the price is competitive and overall and I like the idea of the built in KVM switch.

Has Input Lag. Bad for Comp Gaming

    |
    |
    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I'll start with the Pros. For the price, this monitor has great specs (which is also why it's always sold out intermittently). This monitor has colors that pop and there is plenty of brightness that makes everything a joy to look at on the screen. The 4K and picture quality is really good. The Joystick on the back of the monitor is a great design. It feels durable and makes navigating the OSD an easy process. There is plenty inputs with two HDMI 2.1's, 3 USB's, headphone jack etc...The speakers actually sound decent to me and i dont know why other reviews on other sites say otherwise, they sound good for being built in. I would recommend this monitor for someone who wants a nice 4K experience for casual gaming, picture or video editing, or perhaps streaming movies. However, if you're into competitive gaming and looking to get this for a next gen console like i did, i would reconsider. I bought this Monitor for my PS5 so i could experience 4K at 120 Hz on certain games but am dissapointed with the noticeable input lag. I play games like Apex, COD, Destiny etc... so every split second in game makes a difference for me. I also own an Asus VG249Q 23.8" FHD (not UHD) monitor and there is a very noticable difference with input delay between the two. My Asus is extremely snappy and quick and this Gigabyte monitor cannot match that one.  I'm not sure if this is due to the difference in size but i know it's not the resolution because i also forced the resolution to 1080P and also tried 2K on my PS5 with the Gigabyte monitor and the input lag was still there. I could tell that when i move my joystick, the crosshairs and turning radius of my characters were slower and delayed compared to my smaller monitor. It actually caused me to do worse in games and i played many games while also trying and changing every single feature and setting on the Gigabyte monitor. I came to the conclusion that its just the monitor. It's almost like playing on my 55 inch 4k tv again with the relatable input delay. It's not fun knowing that you're milliseconds behind your enemies' actions and that they can aim at you quicker than you can them because of the display. Within the past 48 hours, i have been switching between both monitors i own and changing settings on the Gigabyte, the games, and my PS5 and there is nothing that takes away the input delay. So, i'm sad this monitor didn't work out. I really thought that HDMI 2.1 and the 144- HZ would be more than adequate to game on this display but i have exhauseted all the options with no real improvement. The input delay is not terrible, it is just noticeable to me and especially if you own another smaller monitor thats comparable and FHD, i would suggest to try competitive shooters side by side on them to see a difference for yourself because i noticed it and it did negatively affect me in games. I've never gamed on a 4k monitor before or one thats 27+ inches for that matter so i'm left wondering if this is a normal thing for bigger monitors or maybe this is just a weakness with the PS5 not outputting at its full peak with this monitor as opposed to my other (I dont game on PC). I'm surprised other reviewers haven't talked about input lag for this product. Perhaps they over look it? Does this matter to people? Moreover, if you're into console gaming but don't play too many competitive shooters or don't care about a greater input lag, then go ahead and try this out! This monitor is great for adventure or RPG games for an example. Also to mention, this thing is really heavy and the screen doesnt swivel side to side which i really wanted it to do. You can however adjust the height of the screen which i did appreciate. The supplied cords were too short and i would suggest to make them longer to allow more room for desk placement. From my expereince here, it feels that when picking monitors you will have to choose between the ultimatum of favoring either performance or picture quality. Bigger screens and better resolutions may provide worse performance with input lag. Smaller screens with less resolutions can provide minimal delays and better response times. Maybe the tech isn't ready yet, I know next gen consoles are still new and so are the few capable monitors to run the max specs. Anyhow, I'm still looking for that one display with superb picture quality, 120hz+, fast RT, and NO input lag. Unfortunately, this one was not it.

Great monitor that is better than it's more expensive counterparts which all use the same LG display panel. Much more detail and color than the monitor I'm replacing it with. Cyberpunk looks amazing. There is so much detail I can read the signs or building graffiti from long distances. It does blacks very well even in well lit rooms .

I have been using this monitor for quite some time to now and for what it is, I'd love it for only an exception or two. Pros * Pricing * Has all the feature you would like. 4k at 144hz, 1ms Response Time, all thought I would put an asterisk on that. * Can move up and down and tilt * Has an easy joystick and button in one place to do everything from the monitor * Plenty of IO for a 28" monitor * HDR looks Great on the PS5 at least. Cons * HDR can be a bit dicey on PC.
