Yes, this is an expensive card, at the time of purchase it was about $300 premium over the Founder's Edition.
I fault no one for not wanting to pay more than the Founder's Edition MSRP for a 5080.
With that out of the way; this is just a stunning card. IMO next to the ASUS Astral, there is no better looking AIB 5080/5090 card. Gigabyte AORUS cards never fail in this department.
Icey white with silver accents just set this card off. The massive cooler keeps this thing idle around 38c in my case, full gaming it barely touches 58c sometimes 60c. This cooler was built for a 5090 and I am happy they just kept it with the 5080 as well. Keep in mind that this is a HUGE card at 360mm Long, 150mm Tall, and 75mm Wide... personally I love this chonky boy, I think it looks impressive in a proper case as the showpiece of your build. Pair this with a white case and an AORUS Ice Motherboard... well... lets just say they look amazing together.
There are the other fun features like the Edge LCD which can display PC stats, gifs, photos, etc. I love these little touches as it just gives the card a little of your personality over just RGB.
Speaking of RGB, you get minimal RGB lighting on the card, the backplate logo and the top logo which can be assigned any number of colors or patterns. The real joy in the AORUS Master cards is the HALO RGB Fans... these are the standout for me when it comes to unique features. This is just a stunning feature... it adds flair without adding a ton of RGB to the card. You really have to see it in person to fully appreciate how amazing it looks! There are a number of patterns you can set it to and they all just look so awesome without being superfluous. They actually imbed an RGB LED in the fan blades to achieve these really cool effects! There are other Gigabyte cards that feature Halo RGB, but the Master Cards are the only ones that do this specific thing.
Other notable features is that they conformal coat the PCB on the Master cards to aid in dust, water and corrosion resistance... not something they do on lower end cards. It also comes with an additional 120mm fan that can essential piggyback on the far end of the heatsink to act as a push/pull system where the flow through (Screen Cooling) part of the heatsink is... I personally am not found of how this looks and honestly it doesn't seem to really do a whole lot for cooling, this thing is already a great performer in that aspect. Also make sure you register your GPU as Gigabyte gives you 4 years for just a few minutes of your time to register.
Base clocks are increased for this model, runs like an absolute champ right out the gates, but the 5080 is also known to take overlocking well and with just a conservative effort you can easily get another 10% out of the card, and possibly more if you want to push it. I personally am satisfied with out of the box performance as it already will boost to 2.9Ghz.
So if you are looking for a showpiece for your Iced out or Whiteout build, you really should consider this Chonky GPU. It looks amazing whether its horizontally mounted or vertically mounted. You get an LCD and HALO RGB to showcase the card in either way.

Obvious out of the way first: this variant of the RTX 5080 is incredibly expensive. It's well above the MSRP of the Founder's Edition card, but in return you are getting a fairly decent boost clock out of the box (2.8Ghz vs 2.6Ghz on the FE), and a large, but extremely efficient cooler. This is the same cooler design found on Gigabyte's 5090, so it is absolutely overkill for the 5080, which pulls much less power. Even under heavy load (on such games such as God of War: Ragnarok, Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered, or Starfield), I have barely seen temps pushed above 50 degrees Celsius. It also means the overclocking headroom on this card is great, which can potentially put you in spitting distance of a RTX 4090, if you decide to pursue that.
The build quality on the Aorus Master Ice is great, the included sag-bracket works well, and the white colorway is the perfect addition to any all-white build (like mine). Just make sure you have a fairly large case though--this is an exceptionally large card and I do not think it would fit in several mid-sized cases. I am using my card in a NZXT H6 Flow, and it just barely fits, so make sure you are double checking those measurements before committing to this card.
In a perfect world, I would say just grab last gen's 4090 with an MSRP at just $150 more than this card. But unfortunately we do not live in a perfect world and NVIDIA ended production on 40-series cards, so unless you are willing to spend more than 2 grand on a GPU (and if you are not getting the 5090 FE, much more than that), a 5080 is still going to be the best value proposition if you are upgrading from 30-series or earlier, or are looking to purchase a GPU for a new build. This is still an expensive card though, and if you are still running 2K resolution on a 40 or even 30-series, I would hold on for something more affordable in the future. If you are still holding onto a 3080 and trying to push 4K at decent frames though, the 5080 is a compelling upgrade, if you can manage to beat the bots.

Perfect match for my all white build, but a little bit oversized.
Haven't tried the 4th fan yet since it hurts the looking.

Its a very pretty card and works perfectly. Had the aero before this and it almost was too small. I love how much of a statement this card makes in your case.

Great temps, minimal coilwhine, premium looks. Switched from 5080 suprim due to coilwhines. Best decision ever made.
It stays cool and has great performance and overclock ability.
Lcd is cute and it's customizable!
As long as Gigabyte can guarrantee RMA for potential thermal paste leaking issue, hands down this is the best 5080 you can find!
