Great for home, not so much for car

I originally bought this for my car. I wanted something with better sound quality that Bluetooth. It took some setting up, but was able to get it to work by setting it up with my phone as a wifi hotspot. That worked great when you were in service area, but when cell service was lost in rural areas, it wouldn't play locally downloaded music and audiobooks on my phones. So I had to go back to bluetooth in the car, but it works great in the house to add streaming to a older two channel stereo set up.

Any speaker with an auxiliary input can use this. I have an old soundbar and a Bluetooth speaker that we're lying around. Now I can use them as smart speakers with Google Home. It's awesome. Pro Tip: Make sure you turn on Full Dynamic Range in the settings. It's disabled by default (I guess to accommodate speakers that can't support it), but it makes a BIG difference in the audio quality if your speaker supports it. It's a shame this was discontinued. If it weren't. I would highly recommend it!

I was setting up a no nonsense digital music system with an external tube amp and bookshelf speakers, and after much consideration of using a dedicated DAC and music player, I decided to instead go with Chromecast Audio, and boy am I glad, This compact unit actually includes a 192kHz 24-Bit Stereo DAC (found that info online) and the sound using Google Music (high quality setting) is flawless. Overall, very impressed, purchased two for audio and two for video.

I love the Chromecast Audio! I purchased 3 for my apartment. They sync exact to time. It even works great synced with my Google Home. The price is much more affordable than SONOS.

I used my best buy rewards to pick up one of these. It works great with my Google home. Best part, it didn't cost me anything. For the price though, I still believe it's worth it.

Google has purposefully limited their Google Home assistants to not transmitting bluetooth. They can of course receive bluetooth signals, but will not transmit to a bluetooth receiver. So in order to stream music from any google home device to a AVR you have to utilize the google chromecast audio. Now granted this is better than streaming via bluetooth, it still forces you to spend an additional $35. That being said, I find the audio via this device is very good, and better than music streaming over bluetooth. I have the google chromecast audio hooked up via mini-toslink to toslink on my AVR. Setup was fairly easy if you follow the instructions.

Why spend $100s on connected speakers when you can spend $100 or less on three Chromecast Audio devices and plug into your own equipment. Setup and quality are superb.

I have an older pioneer receiver and always had to plug in my phone or iPod using an aux cable to hear music from them. Since the receiver came out at a time when Bluetooth really was only starting to come out, it doesn't have any of the modern features you would find now at days. However with the Chromecast Audio, you just plug it in using that same Aux Cable or Optical cable (Sold separately), and a power source, I can cast my music to the receiver from anywhere in the House. It's dead simple and just works. And now with Google Home, a few simple commands is all you need to listen to any song or playlist in seconds.

This product is actually really nice for the price. Not all speakers have Bluetooth, so its rather convenient to have a way to play music wirelessly from a variety of sources.

Forget the Bluetooth! Forget the wires! Save time and money. Fill your home with sound. This product utilizes your wireless network to accomplish this. You can purchase multiples of Chromecast Audio and connect each one to various amplified speakers throughout your home. You don't realize the need for it until you use it. A nifty little invention. Thanks Google! -- (Hint: If you use the Google Mini, it requires the Chromecast Audio device in order to play content to a remote speaker. The current Google Mini doesn't utilize bluetooth for streaming audio.)

If you can still find one of these little gadgets get it as it will make your self powered speaker come alive and right into the 21st century. I have connected to a power amplifier and a pair of speakers. I added the set up to the Nest Home App and now everyone at home can stream they iPhone and I pad music through the speakers. It is very easy to do. Too bad Google decided to discontinue the Google Chromecast audio. It was one of their better products.

I had three zones of speakers hardwired in our new house but wanted my kids to be able to play their own music downstairs. I had only heard from friends that this was what I needed and couldn't visualize how it would work. I bought one unit and braced myself for having to waste all night figuring out how to set it up. Setup was too easy so I was sure I must be missing something but when I hooked it up and tested it I was amazed at how elegantly simple it was to use. It worked so well I am buying another to use for the upper floor to give us the option to play music from our phones there too.

This is a great little product from Google. I have a whole home audio system. Playing music through the included app was limited to music on my phone or through Pandora and some other limited services. Adding this little device to the system now enables me to stream music from my phone through Wi-Fi using almost any service on my phone! I am subscribed to you tube red which gives me unlimited access to Google music as well, and the Chromecast now allows me to stream music and control it from anywhere in my home using my cell phone! Very clear sound. Super easy to set up! Love it.

I'm pretty familiar with the Chromecast. I've been using them for a couple of years via the standalone stick you plug into your TV as well as through Android TV set top boxes. I was initially dismissive of the Chromecast Audio. I figured it would just be a cash grab, and honestly couldn't really think of an application where this would be useful. I then watched a video on YouTube where someone used a couple of them to set up a "whole house" audio system. My interest was piqued. I received a $25 Best Buy gift card for Christmas, and the Chromecast Audio happened to be on sale for $25, so I decided to take the plunge. My daughter got an android tablet for Christmas, and she has an older (read: used to be mine) bookshelf stereo unit in her room, so I thought that would be a neat way for her to interact with her music. I hooked everything up (I already had a 3.5 mm jack to RCA adapter on hand, but if you don't you'll need that if your stereo unit doesn't have a 3.5 mm input) and with minimal effort downloaded the Google Home app onto her tablet and set it up as her bedroom stereo. I proceeded to show her how to cast music to it from her tablet and she was so excited! I even pulled a stunt while she and her mother were upstairs in her bedroom and I cast a song to her unit just to mess with them. It was pretty funny sitting downstairs casting and stopping and resuming the music. I have since bought another CCA and put it into another "system" consisting of a $10 mp3 amp I bought off of Amazon and some OLD Radio Shack speakers. Sounds great, and the "whole house" audio aspect works well. Music seems to be 100% in sync. I am thinking of buying three or four more to make a truly whole house system going out into our back yard and pool area.

I use this for my house in different Zones and it works like a charm. You can sync or add more Chromacast Audio with a click away. Audio quality is amazing and you can use optical.
