I’ve been using the Amazon Fire TV devise so this was experience for me. I like the fact that you can use your phone or table to search and play videos from YouTube and movie streaming sites. It’s faster then using a remote that comes with most dedicated devises. I found it a little frustrating in the beginning but once I got used to it I was happy that I made the purchase. It’s better to create a play list in YouTube so you don’t have to keep going back to your phone to select something else to watch especially if you are doing other things while the TV is playing. I’ve used it to stream Netflix and a few other services. Amazon doesn’t seem to be available so that’s something to think about if you have that available. Fairly easy to install but you will need to read the directions guys or you will find numerous dead ends. I have used this for travel and it worked great and reliably. I Recommend this for travel and if you are a big YouTube watcher.

The Chromecast was easy enough to set-up. It plays the YouTube videos from my Samsung Galaxy 9+ phone's source onto the Television. The clarity of the resulting images and videos are acceptable. The sound quality is fine as well. Not a bad option when playing the phone's content to a room full of people. Although the television knows to switch to the proper input device channel when content begins playing, the setting needs to be manually changed once finished with Chromecasting - a limitation no doubt of the other components I am using with it (XBox One, DVR, etc) Good job, Google!

I had been on a search for a decent streaming device that I could use to stream the media content from phone or an iPad and I found a perfect match for my needs in the form of a 2018 refresh of Google Chromecast. Swaying away from the design cues of a previous version of Chromecast with a new logo and a matte finish it looks neat. With addition of Bluetooth and 1080P with 60 fps with a better WiFi connectivity. If you are looking for 4K go for the ultra model but if not this would suffice all the other needs for streaming.

I’m still playing around with it but I use it to watch YouTube tv with a subscription. Also if you have satellite service you can’t watch any of the premium channels like HBO using your password you must have a separate subscription. Pairs great with google home or mini. The only thing I don’t like is that it has to be plugged in separately for power. The hdmi cord does not charge it and it has to plug into the usb on the tv or an outlet.

Chrome Cast does an adequate job.

Chrome Cast does exactly what the name implies. It cast an image from your computer to the T.V. when you are on the internet and using Google Chrome. It does not cast an image of anything else one might have on your computer screen. In other words, it's great if you are using Google Chrome and have an active internet connection. Otherwise, it is ineffective for other items saved on your hard drive or to cast a DVD to the T.V. .

I had a broken laptop lying around. So I salvaged its LCD, connected it to a control board and used it as a secondary monitor. Later bought a chrome case. Now i own a smart TV. In a market where casting devices are inbuilt into the LEDs these days, I believe the cast devices are meant for cheap DIY products like these and its works like a charm. Having it with a google home devices as a partner enhances the experience greatly. I would totally recommend this.

Good, not as good as HDMI connect.

This would get five stars if you can screen mirror everything. The wireless screen mirroring is great. But unlike HDMI connect. You aren't able to screen mirror everything. Also in places like the hospital. HDMI connect works. This will not work at all. That goes for all Wireless screen mirroring devices I have tried. I wish they would bring back HDMI cable compatibility and the Samsung Galaxy line.

Depending on why you buy it, its good or buggy. I use for casting movies and internet web videos from my pc. Using chrome is iffy for video files. It only works with mp4 mostly and buggy at that. VLC can cast and mostly works, but also buggy at times. Website videos like NBC and etc.., those work very well. Phone mirroring is quite useful too. You need decent internet and router.

this is a good cheap option for old TV's that are not smart. I use this to watch youtube on the tv and it works great. I'm not sure if this is for all TVs but when I send the cast from my phone it automatically switches to the chromecast from the cable input so its really convenient and simple to use. I wish it was faster to respond as there is a lag, but other then that it works great.

This gen Chromecast device isn't anything new from past ones. If you've never owned one or you last purchased the original Chromecast and find it useful then grab this one on sale for an upgrade. It's definitely a little snappier and allows you to connect it to your home group with your other Google Home devices. Otherwise, the functionality is all the same.

I am so glad I purchased this Chromecast device. Now I can stream videos from You Tube or other movies onto my TV from my phone. I wish I had purchased it sooner. This was definitely a worthwhile investment and I would definitely recommend this to others, especially if you like to watch shows or videos from your cell phone.

I have purchased a total of 6 chromecast and chromecast audios to upgrade 3 TV's, two Bose Sounddocks and one old 70' s receiver. They work great as grouped speakers for audio and for steaming. My only problem has been slide shows of photos as photos are flipped. This could be the apps used but the this should have been better.

I gave my old Chromecast to a friend and got this new one expecting a bit more from it and I truly just can't tell the difference other than I get more wallpapers when not playing. I wished I could connect it to my Google audio I have in the house. I can't seem to get the sound to go through them from my Google Chromecast on the TV.

I have several smart home things from Amazon and Google, and while I like the Google Home more, I found this clunky and not compatible with nearly enough apps. Additionally it works from your phone which pulls serious energy from your phone. I wish it had some other app capabilities like Prime Video but I’ll live

Best thing ever invented. I use this to cast my Netflix, Redbox, and Hulu from an app on my phone to my tv. I have one for each tv in my house. The only issue I've come across is that sometimes they need to be rebooted. They lose the internet connection and need to be rebooted to find it. This happens maybe once a week.

Bought this for mom who was complaining about streaming PBS on her iPad. She loves tech but, it doesn’t always work for her. They had antenna tv. Now she’s gleefully streaming Vikings and I, Claudius, and every bloodbath she can find. If she can use it it’s simple!

I have this as well as the Fire, and while I now wish that I had started with Google, my investments in Amazon preclude me from spending more on Google. You really need to stick to one or the other if you are looking to build a seamless, and cohesively connected smart home.

Had a gen one Chromecast stick. It works great, but sometimes loses connection, and is a little slow to respond to commands. The new version is crazy fast in comparison, was easier to set up, and doesn't have any connection instability so far. Good update.

This worked well for casting from my Laptop, except that my 75" TV was mounted so you couldn't see any wires/cables and plugging this in defeats my "clean" TV installation. When I get a moment I will experiment to see if the USB option will work?

This is a great option for the google assistant smart home, as you can control chrome cast devices with your voice. The only downside to this device is that you need a parent device to control it, as it does not come with a remote.
