    Blue tint on entire screen

Was easy to setup and connect to Wifi / Ethernet cable. However, just a few minutes into watching, the entire screen showed a blue tint. Every person on the screen had a blue face. All original colors showed differently with a blue filter. The screen orientation was also out of whack - the screen has shifted slightly to the right. The missing piece of right end screen (about 2 in wide) is now on the left end. I have rebooted the Ultra and problem came back in about 2 minutes of viewing. The blue tint keeps coming back no matter what I try. I have tried rebooting the Ultra through the App, pulled the HDMI cable off, pulled the power cable off in many different sequences. The blue tint won't go away. Google, do you have a fix?

I've been a cord cutter now for about three years. Started with a Roku. Then purchased an Amazon Fire. Last month I purchased a new RV. Was looking for something that would run on USB power. That way when we are camping with only RV battery we can still stream TV. It says it needs a wall socket plugin. But, it will run on USB. You just can't watch ultra 4k. That's the only good part. Your phone is the remote. You get no remote and you'really paying 70.00 for this thing. The phone remote concept dosnt work. If you close out of the app you can't rewide and when you can it's cumbersom. If you pause for more than maybe 10 minutes to take a call it just disconnects. This thing should be 15.00 compared to Amazon Fire. Don't waste your money!

I've had this since Oct 2018. About a month ago it started freezing and stop working. I checked the chromecast and it was hot to the touch. it was so hot, i had to unplug and wait before i could reuse. Now, it happens every week, sometimes 2x a week. I suspect before long, it will happen daily. If you want something that doesn't overheat and lasts longer than 6 months of daily use, don't choose this chromecast. I'll post again if the other products work better on a daily basis.

    Apps crash too much

I've been extremely dissatisfied with my Chromecast Ultra. Apps that run fine on my 2nd gen Chromecast and even my 1st Gen are so unstable. My second gen Chromecast which is upstairs further away from the router performs so much better than the ultra that is hardwired into my 4k TV. In the half year that I've owned this device, I've had to reboot it more than I ever did any of the others. There is no justification for this device to cost twice as much as it's lower resolution counterparts. I bought this to watch PSVue on my 4k TV, and I probably reboot this thing at least once a day. I hope Google uses all the crash reports my device has sent them.

We decided to become cord-cutters recently and bought a Roku. However, we wanted to try Hulu Live, which is available on Chromecast and not Roku. After trying Chromecast for a week we decided to return it and buy a second Roku. Our biggest with Chromecast is using your phone as the remote. My wife's iPhone is often low on battery, and my phone is old and not compatible with Chromecast. As a result, the phone-as-remote became a huge hassle and we ended up simply not watching television. I think Chromecast should seriously consider going with a remote, at least as an option to purchase separately.

So I decided I wanted to buy the ultra chromecast to see what the hype is all about. So I went to Best Buy and bought the one. Came home and set it up and when I had everything set up I watch a 4K movie via Netflix and was disappointed. Mind you I already have a regular chromecast. The ultra was no different then my standard one. I have them running thru my receiver that has 4K upscale and my tv is 4K as well. There was no different sin quality that could be noticed. Needless to say I returned it cause I could not see my self paying that much money for something that my regular one does the same.

Do not purchase if you already have a Smart TV

I purchased one of these because I have some recorded content with Dolby Vision Support. I thought this was a device that would operate like many of the other streaming/media players out there. It doesn't. It literally does the same exact thing as my Onkyo Amp/LG TV does. If you have a Smart phone, Tablet, or a browser extension, you can CAST some content from your device to the TV. That's it.... So if you have an Amp or a Smart TV, save your money. This device will not give you anything else.

I purchased this Chromecast Ultra to give as a gift at the same time that I bought the less expensive Chromecast model for myself. After my frustrating attempts (and eventual failure) to connect the cheaper model to my own tv, I returned both. I ended up buying a new smart tv for my own use and giving a tablet as the gift. Also, why would the Chromecast app need permission to access my emails & texts for me to use my phone as the remote for the Chromecast??

Worse experience ever trying to get connected to my wireless network, after several attempts finally I got results, video streaming pretty good quality but with fast motion picture all the time, the box was over heated that you can cook and egg, besides you can't download what you want for stream, like Kodi, too way restricted, only what Google want, there're other better devices in the market, sorry Google, maybe I got a dysfunctional one, you get what you pay for. Returned.

Bought this and used it maybe once every other week if that and after just a year of use it broke and would not connect the the TV or receiver. Tried resetting it and it would not register. Called Google and they said it was defective but they could not replace it since it was just over a year old. I would never recommend this!

I thought this product would be an internet streaming device only to find out that it is just a "Dongle!" Already have a Dongle! Returned the Google - Chromecast Ultra for a refund! If you need a streaming device, don't waist your time on this one! Go for the "Mi Box!" It has Google - Chromecast Ultra built in with its own streaming without only mirroring your smart phone like a "Dongle!"

The picture was pink. I saw a lot of people had the same problem on the web discussions. So it seems that google has not fixed the problem. This product SUCKS! !!!!!! Wasted about three hours on looking up fixes but nothing worked. Customer service was also no help. A company as large as google should spend some of their billions on customer care.

Rep told me there were lots of free channels. After I spent the time buying the product and hooking up (which was not nearly as intuitive as he indicated) I found that I needed to do monthly subscriptions to get any use of the product. I also started getting an onslaught of useless emails!!!!!!!!!! What a waste of time and effort. Very disappointing.

    Chromecast Ultra vs Chromecast

Tried both the Chromecast Ultra vs Chromecast 2nd generation...I know the specs are different but in real time use, I could not tell any difference between the Ultra(sale $54) vs the regular Chromecast (sale $19). TV is a LG OLED. Given the price differential vs performance, I would not recommend the Ultra

I have bought this HD chromecast to replace my 1st generation chromecast, I hoped that when I do a screen sharing it will load more quickly the movies. (IT DOES NOT!!!) Needless to say that I have a really fast Internet at my house. Basically it's the same product only almost double the price
