I was worried this replacement might be lesser quality, but it is the exact same, high quality, cord that I first received with the unit. Specialized magnet plug to camera works perfectly. Highly recommend.

It is USB so can be charged very easily along with other devices that use USB. It does take some time to get it fully charged so plug it in and let it charge! I wish Nest would use USB c port, that would remove the need to have a special type of cable.

You can extend the battery life of your camera by adjusting video quality, length of video clips, time between recorded events, and using activity zones to monitor specific areas. That way, you don’t have to charge the battery more often than you should as it can take up to 5 hours to fully charge the camera. You may also consider connecting your camera to a power outlet with the included or optional power adapter for continuous power and to keep the battery charged. Please note that the power adapter included with the Nest Cam (battery) is not weatherproof and not intended for outdoor use, and that’s when you can use a compatible weatherproof cable (sold separately).

Bought 2 pack cameras battery set which came with one plug. Battery cameras can be plugged in 25/7 without damage to camera. Beats charge every time manually. Love these cameras.

Looks like this is a know issue as you can Google for camera not charging and a lot of the times is due to the cable.

- Check that the power cable for your Nest camera is properly plugged into the power outlet and properly connected to the camera. The charging cable should sit flush when connected to your camera. The pins on the camera stand or cable should also be in contact with the pads on the camera.
- Check that the power outlet is sending power. You can test this by plugging another device into the outlet. If the device doesn't charge or turn on, you might have to contact an electrician to fix the issue or use another power outlet.
- Check that the power cable is working properly. You can test this by plugging it into another, working power outlet. If your camera or doorbell doesn't turn on or charge, you might need to replace the cable or power adapter.
