Some genius though that it would be a good idea to make a security camera with a battery and not include charging cables. There is 3' cable for the two cameras. So, when the battery runs out you will need to pull your ladder back out and take the camera down and charge it then put it back OR you can spend $40 in a separate purchase for a longer charging cable. Will happily return tomorrow.

Ok camera happered by bad software and poor design

Meanwhile, although you can connect your camera to a power outlet with the included power adapter for continuous power to keep the battery charged, the power adapter included is not weatherproof and not intended for outdoor use. That's where the good ends. The Google Home app holds these cameras back and can't even compare to the Nest app. The app was nowhere ready for this launch and Google made a huge mistake forcing the use of the Home app. On another note, if you wire one of these up for 24/7 video and you're expecting continuous scrubbing like in the Nest app, you'll be very disappointed.

Having a battery makes it super convenient, but you also have the option to wire it if you don't want to worry about charging.

The new app is very difficult to use, and you can’t leverage the original nest app which was much better. I’m hoping google does not sunset the old app. The recording starts way to late and cuts out early, and many clips have a weird white flash at the beginning of the recording. Image quality is worse than original camera as well. I’m returning the camera and scooping up the old one while they are still in stock at some stores.

Home app cannot detect

After a few hours of wasting my day fiddling with it, I ended up returning this camera. This will give me a chance to check out all the other brands.

The camera has a very difficult time catching anything. I've even adjust the sensitivity to high and it still only starts to record after the person has walked up/past the camera. My older Arlo system is much better.

Your camera runs algorithms to process video and audio data so it can determine whether it detected something you might want to know about. If you only need your camera to detect people, animals, or moving vehicles, we recommend that you do not turn on the basic motion and sound detection feature. You might have to move your camera, change your camera’s angle, or change something in the scene so that you don’t miss important activity and choose which events your camera or doorbell can detect and record (people, motion, package etc.).
