Neither camera would communicate with my Google doorbell during the setup process, apparently an essential step to setup wifi parameters. There is no way to simply directly enter credentials for the wifi - seems to be a common problem. I returned the items, after spending a great deal of time attempting to configure them. The hardware seems well designed, and high quality, otherwise this would have been one star.

I have contacted Google, and they want me to pay for a new one. Nest before Google was better and would send me a new one for free. Battery life is bad, camera is never on and Google has no answers.

I tired to give it a chance, but it's just not a successor to previous models. Google got rid of the 4k camera and put this garbage out. It barely catches an event. I don't get a notification trigger if a car is driving by my house going the speed limit of 25 mph. The camera misses it totally! I came home around 10pm and it did not record my car backing into the driveway. It barely caught me walking to the front door. Google needs to fix this asap. Nest was supposed to be the Cadillac of smart security cameras. Now they're a Kia. Wake up Google. Listen to your customers and not to your stockholders.

Your camera runs algorithms to process video and audio data so it can determine whether it detected something you might want to know about. If you only need your camera to detect people, animals, or moving vehicles, we recommend that you do not turn on the basic motion and sound detection feature. Also, Nest camera notifications are a little different. You can choose to receive notifications for everything your camera detects, or choose notifications for only certain types of activity. If you’ve turned on critical alerts, you should receive some push notifications even when your phone is set to Do Not Disturb. You can create Activity Zones to cover areas in your camera’s view that you care about, and choose the type of motion you want to be notified of for each zone. You might have to move your camera, change your camera’s angle, or change something in the scene so that you don’t miss important activity. Nest Cam (Battery) supports 802.11a/b/g/n Wi-Fi standard and works on typical dual band 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz routers. It also supports WEP, WPA, WPA2, WPA3 security encryption. You may want to check on your router's specification and security encryption that you're using.
