Easy setup and integration into the home app. Like the easy installation on my house. Battery life varies depending on the event settings. the camera in my backyard I have only charged once a month the one over my front yard looking towards the road is every 2 weeks. I am happy with that. GOod picture quality

Love nest cameras, but this cordless will require being plugged in for full recorded history, wasn’t aware of that, now will need a cord. Also, the old nest app is going away, so need to use both apps, google home and nest. Need to figure out how to combine into one, so far haven’t figured it out yet, have older cameras. Otherwise it works fine.

The Google Outdoor Camera offers reliable surveillance with crisp video quality. Its weather-resistant design ensures durability, while seamless integration with Google ecosystem enhances user experience. The intuitive app allows easy remote monitoring, and features like motion detection and two-way audio add to its functionality. However, a slightly higher price point might deter budget-conscious consumers. Overall, a solid choice for those invested in the Google ecosystem seeking a dependable outdoor security solution.

The Google Nest Cam is an absolute game-changer for home security! Its sleek design seamlessly blends into my living space while delivering impeccable video quality. The ease of setup and integration into the Google ecosystem is impressive. I love the mobile app, which allows me to check in on my home from anywhere. The two-way audio feature adds an extra layer of convenience and security. Whether it's monitoring my pets or keeping an eye on my front door, the Nest Cam provides peace of mind. The price is reasonable for the value it offers, making it a top-tier choice for anyone prioritizing home security.

One of the best looking cameras for the price, these two cameras have great sensors and night vision. Very easy to mount and the app is very easy to navigate

Pros -
- Easy to setup
- Works out of the box
Cons
- Does NOT work with Nest Home App. You will need Google home app separately for this camera
- Unless you purchase the power cable, the battery pack does not stay on all the time. Only when it detects motion (which is couple of seconds after the motion starts)
Hi razbaba, thanks for sending in your review. The camera works fine. I only wish that the Google cameras would all work with Nest, so all my cameras were on the same app.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us, aees. We get that moving from the Nest app to the Google Home app might take a little getting used to, but we want to make it as easy as possible. The Google Home app lets you connect and control all sorts of devices, like speakers, cameras, thermostats, and lights, all in one place.

I’ve been using Nest for years. Way back to the beginning. It’s always been a solid performer and you get a lot of bang for your buck with the subscription. What I do not like as of the last couple of years is Google doing what Google does best and forcing migration into their app. This camera setup is part of Googles new push to force you the user into using their app. No longer can you use these new cameras with the very good Nest app. I avoided buying these new cameras for the sole purpose of not wanting to use Googles terrible Home app. But my Nest “Legacy” cameras started failing and you can no longer buy them so I really had no other choice if I wanted to continue to use Nest cameras. Other than the terrible Google app, the cameras still work just as good as the legacy cameras. Keep in mind they are all now battery powered, out of the box. And if you want immediate, live video access you are forced to buy an extra power cable for plug in. Classic Google money grab. Operationally wise, it’s still got Nest at its heart so I’ll continue to use them until Google does something totally unacceptable. If you’re reading this Google, fix your terrible app. It’s horrid.
Hi CaptStabbin, thanks for leaving feedback and for being a longtime Nest user. We’re sorry to learn of your disappointment with the functionality of the new Nest Cam (battery) in the Google Home app. The new Nest cameras and doorbell are exclusive to the Home app because we wanted to create an integrated experience with your speakers and displays. A Nest Aware subscription applies to all of your cameras, speakers, and displays in the same home structure. You’ll be able to view both your old and new Nest Cams together in the Home app, and we’re working on bringing the full functionality to the Home app so all your cameras can be controlled and set up in one place.
We're taking your feedback seriously as it helps us better understand our customers’ preferences and needs. And for any of your support needs, our dedicated team is always ready to help you here: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp

These are very well built cameras that offer clear images and sound. However, they need to be recharged too frequently for my use, and so I returned them.

I added these to my nest outdoor cameras i already had. I dont like the google home app. I wish they would let you use the nest app. However the picture quality is fantastic. Day or night. The sound is ok. Motion detection is set for people only and i do get a lot of false alerts. I am still adjusting but it picks up shadows of cars or trees moving in the wind sometimes as a person. Still, it is great for the money. I have one plugged in and one on battery. Id expect the battery to last probably 60 days before needing to be charged. I plan on running a wire to it, just havent had time yet to drill into the wall. Overall i do recommend this for most applications.

I now have a few of these cameras and overall they are very good for my use case. I have them connected directly to an outlet so I don't worry about charging batteries. The resolution is HD and the night vision is acceptable. I don't currently subscribe to their cloud service so you get three hours of history. That isn't a lot but it works for me as I can download any clip as needed. There are other options out there and I've used a few but these seem to work just fine for me and the safety of my household.

Not A Long Battery Life

We currently have a wired camera system and has served us well for 6 years. Unfortunately, it's beginning to show it's age with a few malfunctions. Replacing the cameras with new ones is not an option; too old and out-of-date. So, in our search, I chose to purchase the Nest Cam Battery. The picture is great! However, the battery only lasts less than 3 weeks. It's placed at the front of our house, so it does capture quite a bit of activity. I'm sure it would be even more if we didn't live in a cul-de-sac and probably lower battery life. On the lighter side of this, you can purchase the optional power supply BUT you have to have an outlet nearby.

Hi 2DemandingKitties, thank you for sharing your experience. We are sorry for the poor battery life with your Nest Cam (Battery).
Battery life will depend on factors including activity, temperature, and camera settings that you select. You can extend the battery life of your camera by adjusting video quality, length of video clips, time between recorded events, and using activity zones to monitor specific areas. Here are some typical scenarios: - Busy - About 1.5 months battery life (about 20 - 25 recorded events per day) - Typical - About 3 months battery life (about 9 - 12 recorded events per day) - Quiet - About 7 months battery life (about 2 - 4 recorded events per day)
If you´re willing to try, we recommend checking the frequency of events (per day) that you get with your Nest Cam (Battery). If the short battery life isn´t related to the frequency of events, then we may need to have a closer look at your Nest Cam (Battery) and understand what may be causing it. So far I have nop problems. Sometimes, like every other electronic device, it comes in and out. But over all content

It’s very sleek and convenient to instal and connect. But it misses a lot of events while capturing others in less important areas. Even though you can select fields to increase sensitivity. There doesn’t seem to be any consistency with what it detects. It also can take a long time to connect to my phone which I don’t understand. I also have blink cameras on the interior which are plugged in for electricity but connect to wifi. I never have a problem waiting for those to connect.

Hello there, KarenC. Thanks for posting a review about the Nest Cam (battery)! We appreciate you highlighting both the easy setup and the areas for improvement.
We hear your concerns with missed events and inconsistent detection. Here are a few things that can help: - Double-check your motion zones to ensure they cover the most important areas. You can adjust these in the Google Home app. - While you've adjusted the sensitivity settings, there might be a sweet spot for your environment. Try fine-tuning the sensitivity to reduce false triggers and improve detection of what matters. - Consider if the camera angle needs adjustment for better coverage of key areas. - As for the slow connection time, we apologize for the inconvenience. Unlike your Blink cameras that are constantly powered, Nest Cam (battery) goes into "Idle" mode to conserve battery. This can cause a slight delay when waking up to connect.
We'd also be happy to look into your specific situation further. Feel free to contact our support team directly, and we’ll do our best to assist you: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp

IL residents waste battery life without familiar face recognition. Convenient that can be charged manually rather that running power. However battery life only 3 weeks if trafficked area without friendly face detection which I assume would save battery life. Picture quality is good though rarely quite high res enough to get license plates of passing Cars
