Hi Sylvia, thanks for bringing this issue to our attention. We're sorry to hear that you are experiencing delays with Nest Cam (Battery).

Delays when streaming video feed with Nest Cam (Battery) are mostly related to possible congestion with your network. A good step to try would be to remove some of the connected devices in your network. This will help free up some bandwidth space and enable you to verify if you will still experience any delays when viewing the live video stream for Nest Cam (Battery). If you do verify congestion, we recommend contacting your Internet service provider to check your connection and upgrade it if needed.

Alternatively, you may also contact our support team for further isolation and troubleshooting of the issue. You may reach out to us using this link: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp Nest

Hi there Valo, thanks for your insights. We're sorry to hear that the move to the Google Home app from the Nest app didn't meet your expectations.

We wanted to make the Google Home app as the one place where you can control all your favorite Nest devices and other smart home devices with the Google Assistant. Here are some benefits you can get by using the Google Home app with your Nest Cam (Battery):
      - Automatic security protections such as Suspicious activity detection, 2-Step Verification and Security Checkup.
      - Your Google Nest devices and services will work together. For example, if you have a Nest Cam and a Nest Hub, just say, """"Hey Google, show me the backyard camera” to cast your camera stream to your display without any additional setup.
      - One account to sign into both the Nest and Google Home apps.
      - Your homes and home members will be aligned across the Nest and Google Home apps.
      - If you're willing, you may set up your old Nest cameras to the Google Home app. Check out this help article: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9893532

Hi there, Lando0824. Thanks for sharing your feedback on the Nest Cam (battery). We hear your concerns about the video recording feature.

Our goal is to give users more options. With event video history, we wanted our products to help our customers, like you, to understand what’s going on at home easily and highlight the important activity for you. We still offer 24/7 video history on wired Nest cameras/doorbells with a Nest Aware Plus subscription. We continue to invest in the use of both technologies. You’ll get 60 days of events history and 10 days of 24/7 video history if you choose to connect your Nest Cam (battery) to a power cable (sold separately). Visit this support link to learn more about pricing, and what you can get with a Nest Aware subscription: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9233159

Even if your home’s internet connection is good enough to stream Nest Cam video, you may have difficulty watching the stream if your phone has a poor cellular or Wi-Fi connection. In addition, a range issue or wireless interference can affect the performance of your camera. Sometimes it may pass the connection test during setup, but will struggle to stay connected. Also, your camera may be out of range and can become disconnected due to weak signal. Wireless interference can give you trouble connecting Nest products or other wireless devices. It can also cause slow network communications or intermittent disconnections. So your Nest products might continuously disconnect and reconnect, or they may be slow to respond to app control. For more details, read “Troubleshooting wireless interference” here: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9276282

I bought this 2 pack thinking that it would be more convenient instead of buying them individually. DO NOT BE FOOLED. At the time of purchase, the 2-pack was $239.99. Buying the cameras individually is $199.99 which comes to $239.98. One cent cheaper is not really saving you anything so it really comes down to the convenience of having to open just one package. What they don't tell you is that when you buy the 2-pack, it only comes with 1 charging cable. So you're really getting less product for the same price and you have to pay an extra $14 to buy another cable. Shameful!

Hi there hypochondrius, we greatly appreciate your feedback on Nest Cam (battery). We understand that having two charging cables for your cameras can be convenient for you. It only takes around 4-5 hours to fully charge the Nest Cam (battery). The Google Home app can show you how much time you have left until your battery will need to be charged, and the app will also notify you once the camera needs to charge. Simply remove it from the magnetic mount or stand and charge it using the USB-C charging cable. If you want to consider connecting your cameras to a power outlet for continuous power but you only have one charging cable and adapter, we suggest reaching out to our support team anytime so we can figure out a way to help you best, here: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp Nest

Hi there, WilliamL. We're sorry to hear that you experienced a power outage that affected the Wi-Fi connectivity of your Nest Cam (Battery). It's common to experience a sudden jump in current when power is restored following a power outage and this jump in power, or a power surge, may cause some issues with any plugged-in appliances and devices that do not have surge protectors. We recommend trying to restart your Nest Cam (Battery) to see if it might fix the issue. If restarting doesn’t prove to be helpful, we recommend contacting our support team so we can help check on the issue further using this link: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp Nest

Hello there, JamesW. We're sorry to hear that you're experiencing some difficulties with your Nest Cam (battery) when it comes to recording activity. All Google Nest cameras and doorbells can upload and securely save video in the cloud, where it's protected from theft and damage. Once your camera's video is safely uploaded, you can access it anytime. But for your camera to upload video to the cloud, it needs to be connected to Wi-Fi and the Nest service. We recommend reaching out to our team of specialists so we can identify the cause of the issue and provide you with a better resolution. Hi Bejcunni, we appreciate your feedback and we'd like to apologize for any disappointment you may be having with the Google Home app for your Nest Cam (Battery).

We understand that long time Nest users, like you, enjoy viewing their Nest camera feeds from the Nest app. However, our priority with this launch was building a complete experience for our new cameras and doorbell in the Google Home app. We wanted to make the Google Home app as the one place you can control all your favorite Nest and other smart home devices with the Google Assistant. The new Nest Cameras and doorbells are exclusive to the Home app because we wanted to create an integrated experience with other Google Nest speakers and displays.

If you´re willing to try, you may set up your older Nest cameras on the Google Home app as well. You may need to migrate your Nest account to a Google account. For more information, check out this help article:

Hi there, GeraldM. Thanks for posting your feedback on the Nest Cam (battery). We’re sorry to hear that your experience didn’t meet your expectations.

Event detection depends on the camera settings that you select. You can choose which events your camera or doorbell can detect and record (people, motion, package, etc.). From there, you (and each member of your home) can decide which of those events to get notifications for. If an event is turned off, you won’t get notifications for that kind of activity. You can also change the settings like adjusting video quality, wake-up sensitivity, length of video clips, time between recorded events, and using activity zones to monitor specific areas.

At temperatures below freezing, the lithium-ion battery in your Google Nest camera or doorbell won’t be able to charge. Many devices, including popular models of doorbell cameras and cell phones, use lithium-ion batteries for their high power and long life, but these batteries are also affected by temperatures below freezing. For wired installation setups with a Nest Cam (battery), the wires power the camera directly. At temperatures below freezing, the battery won’t charge, but as long as the wired power source is available, the camera can operate in temperatures down to -4°F (-20°C).

Hi JIMV, thanks for sharing your experience. We’re sorry to learn that Nest Cam (battery) didn’t meet your needs.

Generally, closer is better so your camera can capture more detail. Night Vision relies on infrared LEDs to light the subjects in view. If you’re interested in keeping track of things at night, we recommend placing your camera close to the area of interest.

Hello there, JamesD. We appreciate your feedback on Nest Cam (battery). We hear your concern about having one charging cable only for the 2-pack cameras. The inclusion of a single cable is intentional, as the cameras shouldn't usually need to be charged at the same time due to differences in usage, such as event frequency or scene the camera is observing, sensitivity and event duration settings, and more.

What I liked... Setup was easy, and if you’re already using Google Home, the integration is seamless. -Completely wireless, and battery powered, so you don’t need to run any cables. This makes it easy to install the camera just about anywhere. The battery even had about an 80% charge, so I was able to set it up right away. -Easy to use magnetic mount. Also has a standard camera (threaded) mount. -Excellent picture quality. Resolution is high enough that you can decently zoom in to see a person’s face. -You can set it to only record events when it detects people, animals, and/or vehicles, OR you can have it record any motion it detects, so there’s nice flexibility there. You can also tell it to alert you for any/all of those same events. For example, you can have it set up to record people and vehicles, but only alert you for events with people. -Connects via your existing wireless network, so you don’t need any extra base units. Provided you have decent wifi coverage around your house, this may also allow you a little more flexibility in where you can place the camera. -With default settings, app claims an expected battery life of 3 months. After one week of testing, it’s still at 92% charge. What can be improved... -No indicator of battery level (in the app anyway) while charging. You have no clue when it’s reached a full charge. -Detection range seems more limited than my cameras from two other brands. -Navigating to events when in the “History” view is cumbersome. It’s nice that they show an event indicator on the timeline, but they should make it easier to move from one event to another. -It needs a ‘skip to next event’ button, or something like that. If you switch to the “Full History” view, it does present all of the recent events in a nice list, so that’s some consolation. The app would benefit from fast forward/rewind x seconds buttons also. -The audio interactions at the camera definitely need some tweaking. The person at the camera can clearly hear you when you speak through the app, but they also hear an echo of themselves when they speak to you. The echo is bad enough that it’s almost like that childhood friend that would repeat everything you said, just to be annoying. Misc observations -Default video setting only records up to 30 seconds of an event. This can be increased up to a maximum of 3 minutes, but at a projected cost of 1 month of battery life. -Free plan only comes with 3 hours of video storage, but you can subscribe to Nest Aware which bumps you up to 30 days of event history. One advantage that Nest Aware has over some other competitors is one monthly subscription covers ALL of your cameras, not just a few. Overall, the Nest Cam Outdoor is decent, but a little on the pricey side. It’s a solid camera, but if you think you’ll need more than one, there are other choices that are almost on-par, but significantly less expensive. As for some of the ‘flaws’, I imagine most can (and likely will) eventually be fixed with app/firmware updates. As for recommending it to a friend, if they only needed one camera, I'd say yes; but if they needed multiple, I'd steer them elsewhere.

Hi cw77, thanks for sharing your insights. We appreciate your points on the features we can improve on Nest Cam (Battery).

You may check the battery level for your Nest Cam (Battery) by checking it in the Google Home app. To check the battery state, follow the steps below:
      - Open the Google Home app.
      - Verify that the Google account shown is the one linked to the camera. To switch accounts, ask the customer to tap the drop-down arrow then choose the correct account.
      - Select the camera from the listed devices.
      - On the top-right, tap Settings.
      - Under Device features, tap Battery.

Placement of your Nest Cam (Battery) is important to get the best detection range. Generally, closer is better so your camera can capture more detail. So, an adult of average height should be no more than 20 ft away. For a detailed guide on where to place you camera, visit this link: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/10919314

We value your feedback and we´ll make sure to pass along some features you would like us to improve to the right team.
