Battery lasts about 20-30 days, based on camera on/recording times. Solar panels were not available to purchase from BB or anywhere. I was able to order from factory, but they expect the solar panels to be released at end of April.

I put in a place where I can easily grab from a small ladder in case I need to recharge. I placed mine in my back yard. If your using indoors it’s a great buy because you can place it anywhere without plugging it in.

The quality of the video from the Nest App is superior to the Google Home App. Nest has higher video resolution, better lighting and more options than Google Home in my opinion.

We wanted to make the Google Home app as the one place where you can control all your favorite Nest devices and other smart home devices with the Google Assistant. Here are some benefits you can get by using the Google Home app with your Nest Cam (Battery):
- Automatic security protections such as Suspicious activity detection, 2-Step Verification and Security Checkup.
- Your Google Nest devices and services will work together. For example, if you have a Nest Cam and a Nest Hub, just say, ""Hey Google, show me the backyard camera” to cast your camera stream to your display without any additional setup.
- One account to sign into both the Nest and Google Home apps.
- Your homes and home members will be aligned across the Nest and Google Home apps.
We also recommend checking your network for possible congestion since the newer Nest camera models also come with the same resolution as the 1st generation Nest cameras. Removing some of your connected devices may help free up some bandwidth space and enable you to check if you will get better video streaming. If you verify congestion, contacting your Internet service provider will be a good step to help check your connection and upgrade your bandwidth if needed.

Does not work with older devices and Nest app

Older cameras and devices are not compatible with this and the Nest app does not work, you have to use Google home witch is okay if all the old devices did too which they don’t so you have to switch back and forth. Bad design.

Previous to purchase I was a little worried so I looked up some videos on the product and everyone said the magnet was strong but boy when I needed to charge it, it was hard getting it off! I am glad it's secure though and I love that it links up to all of my other Google products!

The product managers at Google should fire themselves. Nest used to be the most advanced camera with great usability both hardware and software… now under Google they can’t even get the basics right. The Google Home app is a giant waste of time and is a downgrade from the regular Nest app. People who think these cameras are great likely never owned the original nest cameras before Google took over. Really sad to see what was once such a great brand die a slow and painful death. At least just abandon the whole “Nest” thing altogether to remove all hope that it will get better so we can get on with replacing our Nest devices with something else.

The new Nest cameras and doorbells are exclusive to the Home app because we wanted to create an integrated experience. Our long term plan is to use the Google Home app as the one place you can control all of your favorite Nest and other smart home devices, as well as Google Assistant. In the near future, we’ll allow users to set up previous Nest devices and have full control in the Home app. Users with older cameras can view their camera feeds in the Google Home app alongside the new Nest Doorbell and Nest Cams. Our team is working on bringing full functionality to the Google Home app so all of your cameras can be set up and controlled in one place.

Returned got a new set been working great ever since. We also purchased the black silicone covers for the camera and wall mount base. We have NOT bought the extended service past the free trail. But we still get notifications just doesn't keep as long as history.

This is probably the worst of em all. I have been using it for last 2 months. I installed the camera near my pond because I suspected animal activity and wanted to understand what was going on. There were 0 activities detected by this cameras. What's more surprising is I installed a Ring spotlight camera next to this to see if it was the camera. Ring captured family of 4 raccoons apart from possums and a cat visiting the pond at night while the nest camera which was right next to it detected 0 events! I have enabled alerts on the nest cam from animal activity to motion detection.

Nest Cam (Battery) motion detection can be affected by changes in the light level, and shadows moving across the frame like when a cloud moves in front of the sun. This also includes other movements within the camera's field of view like trees or bushes swaying. If you're not getting any alerts or notifications, we recommend trying out the steps below:
1. Change the Activity Zones on your camera. You can delete your existing Activity Zone and create a new one in any area within your camera's field of view. Just make sure that none of the zones you create overlap.
2. Change the angle of your camera and account for the lighting in the surrounding area.
3. Restart your Camera.

We had bought the arlo pro 3 or 4 first and had issues from the beginning, not to mention horrible tech support from arlo team. The nest cams we probably had ready and mounted within minutes. Love the alerts, and the convenience of being able to check on the house, especially during trips.
