It has a heavier base that makes it much more sturdy as well. The only downside is that I can't use my 30' USB cable that I purchased for my 1st Gen cam since the new camera has the cable built in. I'm sure I can get something else to extend it if needed but the built-in cable seems to be long enough for now. Other than that it's great and worth the update from the previous gen camera.

I'll check the video feed and everything looks great, then an hour or so later check it again and it's a wavy mess. It goes from bright to dim in a wavy pattern over and over again. Eventually it stops and things look good for a bit but then the wavy issue starts again. Then sometimes half the video will look great while the other half is a pixelated mess. I've gone through 3 units and they all suffer from this issue. I'll be returning this one as well. I tried a Ring Indoor Camera to compare and it's a night and day difference. Zero issues with the Ring so far. It's disappointing because I was trying to keep my smart home setup all within Google.

Having said that, the only problem ive experienced is a timing issue with the audio and video sync. Sometimes the audio is delayed or even repeats itself. Other than that, no problems. The zoom quality is good. A little choppy when zoomed all the way in but not so bad i cant make out what im looking at. All in all, I would recommend purchasing this item.

I have a good collection of them now covering both the interior and exterior of my house. Easy to set up and easy to monitor. I do pay the monthly fee for Nest Aware which is the main perk of these cameras. Having 24/7 recording capabilities and cloud storage is a big win. Happy with my purchase.

We understand that long time Nest users, like you, enjoy viewing their Nest camera feeds from the Nest app. However, our priority with this launch was building a complete experience for our new cameras and doorbell in the Google Home app. We wanted to make the Google Home app as the one place you can control all your favorite Nest and other smart home devices with the Google Assistant. The new Nest Cameras and doorbells are exclusive to the Home app because we wanted to create an integrated experience with other Google Nest speakers and displays.
