The IQ outdoor camera is even clearer than the original outdoor camera. The facial recognition works well and so does the zoom tracking of people. Easy install and setup

Excellent 4k sensor (transmits in 1080 for wi-fi bandwidth). Easy to install -- with nest aware package get additional features like automatic zoom and facial recognition. 24/7 recording -- event only wouldn't be adequate for me -- you may loose the context of before and after 'the event' and if the camera doesn't consider it an event unless its 24/7 it wont be captured. Ring are generally cheaper -- and ideal/ease to install for some including battery only etc -- but for higher quality aside from perhaps the Arlo 4k -- this is one of the best. Two pack gives ~$100 savings vs buying singles

I have had serveral of the standard Nest cameras for a couple of years now and I bought this one last year in 2020 on sale. IMO here are some pros and cons before purchasing. Pros: First do I think its a good camera? Yes. it works very well during the day and has a great picture depending on the bandwidth quality setting you put in on. it has a really good picture and tracks people pretty well during the day, sometimes a little too good. it can also pick up faces of unknown people and the settings allow you to tell your camera in the settings if its a person you recognize like a family member or neighbor which is kind of nice. just be sure to set your zone of notifications so that it picks up anything within your set zone. its a good quality camera for up to about 20-30 yards but it won't pick up little things like say numbers on a license plate passing in front of your house if its say an unknown vehicle. if you have a good internet connection it works well. it does have alot more settings in it than the standard cameras. Cons: you really need a quality internet setting, this thing is a hog. put it in a good place within a good range of your router. Mine is in front of my garage and does okay, not great, but thats becuase of where my router is in my house. so the closer the better. It does not do very well at night in night vision mode. You tend to get a ghost like picture when a person walks in front of it unless they are within a close range, like 10-15 yards. When you set it up, it doesn't turn right to left, only up and down tilting. so if you place it somewhere, be sure thats where you want it as you can't turn it right and left like the standard cameras. also, for some reason the nest application tends to have a little harder time working with this cameras than the others ones. it could just be me but sometimes I find myself closing out of the next application only to try and reopen it so that it can open the camera view again. It tends to work slower on apple products than android products. My android phone opens it pretty quickly but my apple tablet is slower to open the next application. BTW. I have an ASUS 3100 router and its a pretty stout router.

The camera is good, but the setup was a bit problematic. I will break up this review into a couple of different sections: Camera: The camera quality, both build, and technology is quite good. The clarity and resolution of the film are also better than expected; daytime is much clearer than nighttime. Setup Up: The physical setup was manageable. I would compare it to riding a bike. When you haven't done it before the whole process is quite daunting, but once you've done it once, then you feel like a pro. I was worried about drilling holes into the wall to track the wire, but in the end, it all worked out. Amen! Nest/Google Integration: This is where the product went from 4-5 stars to 3-4 stars. I encountered several problems with the Nest app, the Google Home app, as well as simple functions like Nest identifying and connecting to the camera. It was spotty. Furthermore, imagine this scenario, I connect the app with camera, I drill holes in the wall, I install the camera, track the wire, the camera is perfectly positioned 15 ft high, everything is connected and looks like it's working. Then, I started digging into the app to see how I can save clips AND IT DOESN'T WORK! OMG! I had to call Nest/Google and stayed on the call for 1-2 hours to figure out the issue. All said and done, there was an app/camera connection issue. The rep instructed me to remove the camera so I could reinstall the camera on my app. People: There's a QR code on the back of the camera. Take a picture of it in the event that you have to remove the camera from the app and reinstall it for any reason. Otherwise, you have to take the camera down to reinstall. Once everything is working, then it's golden. The facial recognition is pretty impressive too.

It's really unfortunate that our world has come to a point where we have to rely on security cameras to watch our property, but here we are. I had two Nest Indoor cameras to help out after a bad injury and they worked great. When the craziness of 2020 started getting to the point where it crept into our yard, I decided to stick with the brand. The NestCam IQ, while more expensive than others, is definitely worth the investment. The quality and definition are hard to beat and the installation is simple.

Great Camera, challenged to justify price

Let me start by saying this is an excellent wifi camera and a definite improvement over the standard Nest outdoor camera, while I am challenged if the improvements justify the over $150 difference for this newer model (thus the 1 star reduction). I currently have 3 Nest Outdoor cameras and added this one Nest IQ outdoor to provide coverage of the busy driveway area. I replaced 4 Arlo Pro wireless cameras. Improvements I observed with the IQ from the base Nest outdoor -Improved mounting with locking approach. Easily mounted under eave of house -Smaller connections allowing much smaller hole if drilling through wall to pass cable -Auto Zoom in logic. This is really cool and auto will zoom in to subjects based on movement. Note the full screen is still recorded, and occasionally the logic may predict the wrong motion path missing part of the subject requiring you to zoom back out -Good video quality. I would say only slightly better than the Nest Outdoor when comparing recordings on a laptop Cons: -App allows for schedule on and off and geofencing based notifications (with more than one device) as well as defined motion zones and person only alerts. I list this as a con as I want to combine geofencing and schedule (ie notify my during the middle of the night of motion even if we are home, but not during the day if we are both home. You can utilize schedules to turn camera on or off, but not control notifications. -data usage - this is not an issue for me as I have unlimited data from my ISP. but if record 24x7 (why wouldn't you?) and have several cameras you can use a great deal of data - be sure to check your data limits with your ISP -included cable plug is indoor only! This change from the base outdoor Nest seems to be to allow the smaller connectors to pass through a wall. They list an outdoor cable for this camera on the Nest website but is not cheap for an already premium priced camera. Bottom Line: Premium camera that comes at premium price

Expensive but you are paying for the software . Auto Zoom and face recognition . I still need to work on how to mute for small movements on the busy road . It brings in the peace of mind with video clips of movements . It has a nice microphone too and can pick up slightest of sounds. We feel much more safe . I also like it better than previous generation as its mount is ball and socket joint unlike previous version which had a magnetic mount making it susceptible to theft . Con : paid 349 and it became 299 after 2 weeks :(

This camera was easy to install. Took only 10mins to install over my garage door. I can see all every activity in my driveway and I can talk to them from the NEST APP. My 30-day trial is almost up but I think the $60 a year service fee is reasonable. The AI recognizes faces for my account, thus eliminating the alerts everytime my wife drives into the garage. This camera alerts me when people are talking, any motion. Love the SUPER SIGHT.

Received these cameras as a Christmas gift. Installation of the Nest app is required and is very easy. Adding each camera to the Nest app is also very easy, however, it does drain your cell phone battery. Be sure to determine where the camera will be positioned and plugged in, prior to drilling any holes. Setting up notifications and zones are also very easy. Great product and would definitely recommend to anyone looking to purchase outdoor security cameras.

Google Nest produces solid and well built cameras. I initially tried the wire free option with Arlo Pro 2, but keep in mind, when you go wire free you're going to lose features like 24/7 protection, which for me is top priority. I'll admit, Nest isn't the cheapest system, but if you plan on having this system for multiple years, then the price point is not as bad, just wait for the sales! I got my system for $569 on sale. What I love about Nest vs other cameras is the simplicity of it all. Easy and seamless integration with my Nest app, where as Arlo requires a pesky base station as a repeater to your WiFi. Another thing I couldn't get over is the thought of having to recharge batteries or adding a solar power source for power on the Arlo system, because I'm not going to remind myself to recharge batteries. If there is a hassle with Nest, it's obviously the power cable, which unfortunately my house doesn't have any external outlets in the front yard. So definitely map out your power source before unboxing. The power cable is solid and skinny, so you don't have to drill massive holes through your exterior. The cord is long, so I ended up stuffing my excessive wire in the wall, or exterior siding in the backyard. Video quality is amazing, but that will depend on how much bandwidth you allow the camera to use. Yes, you have to pay for subscription if you want to archive for 5, 10 or 30 days, but it's honestly not as expensive. I have 2 IQ cameras and doorbell, so my yearly subscription for 5 days of 24/7 video is $110 for the year or less then $10 per month vs Arlos motion detection, which lags!!! Overall I'm very happy with this camera and a great addition to my Google home!

These cameras are AMAZING!!!Speakers are so loud my neighbors can hear me. I caught some lady 4 houses down in front of my home saying "I'm pooping myself" (as she rushed in her home after parking). Quality is great. I still don't know how clear faces are during the night because at the moment I had to turn them off. This product is pricey but well worth it I think. I do hope they will lower the price down.

These are the best security cameras on the market. My wife an I did a ton of research before we purchased these security cameras and I must say they did not disappoint. Crystal clear, 24/7 viewing and night vision is great. We hired someone to install them just to make sure they were done right and it took about 1 hour to install 4 of them. Well worth it and highly recommend.

While Nest cameras can sometimes be finicky, we've had good luck with the Outdoor IQ. Clarity is far better and the tracking feature is pretty nice as well. They're expensive, borderline overpriced considering other options that are arguably similar with cheaper price tags. Truthfully, I'd probably buy this model again, but wish they'd fix some of the bugs with their cheaper offerings.

Can be tricky to install depending on the specifics of your house. Would be great if they had multiple options for the length of the power cable. It is also expensive, but so far I think its great. The coolest feature is that when it sees motion it will automatically zoom in on the area. If you already have another Nest products, like I do, it's nice to have them all on one app.
