I replaced my old Nest doorbell with this doorbell and it was very easy to install and great video quality! The Google app also still links to the nest app

The Google Nest Doorbell we purchased was easy to install (replaced a Ring Doorbell that Stopped working) and has performed beyond expectations. We love the frequent alerts we receive on our phones, and the integration with our Google Mesh system throughout our house. We also like the person identification feature that announces who is at our door, based on information we provided. Very helpful. Also, the videos cover a wide area and have good resolution. I would highly recommend this doorbell.

I recently installed the Google Nest Doorbell (2nd Gen) and it’s been a game-changer for home security. It’s packed with features that are both practical and easy to use.
Good Points:
Crystal Clear Video: The video quality is excellent, even at night. The 3:4 aspect ratio is perfect for capturing visitors from head to toe, and the resolution is sharp enough to easily identify anyone at the door.
Smart Notifications: The Nest Doorbell sends smart alerts based on motion, and I can even filter out things like cars or pets. This is a huge improvement over other doorbell cams I’ve tried, as it cuts down on unnecessary notifications.
Area for Improvement:
Requires Hardwiring: Unlike some battery-powered models, this doorbell needs to be hardwired to your existing doorbell system. While not a dealbreaker, it’s something to keep in mind if you're looking for a more flexible installation option.
Overall, this is a fantastic doorbell for anyone wanting reliable video footage and smart home integration. Just be prepared for the installation process if you're not already set up for a wired doorbell.

This door bell is great. Has excellent video and audio quality. Installation was a breeze. Google's nest aware subscription is affordable and offers everything one would need for a basic video door bell. We are much happier with the Nest door bell over the Ring we had before.

I don’t know if I got a dud or not. But I would constantly have connection issues or google home app issues. Not only that, I had issues with setting up the device and I had to reach out to support because it wasnt detecting. BUT when it did work, it would work phenomenally, amazing, perfect couldn’t complain. Very streamlined with my other google products to make it a smart home. I would say the camera quality could be better by angles and picture, otherwise night vision is better than Ring and smooth interface compared to Ring. Also detects people, packages better than Ring AND I love that I can customize the doorbell sound for holidays (to be ✨extra✨).

Replacement for a Nest doorbell camera I had for years. Easy to use and so many zones can be configured making it easy to set the notifications you want to receive.

Google Nest has finally come out with a new wired alternative to their battery powered Nest Doorbell. This is something I have specifically been waiting for and am glad to be able to talk about the difference between the two devices.
Right out of the box, I love the simple packaging. I love the styling. I noticed that the wired doorbell is shorter than the battery version ( 5.1" vs 6.3"). It is still very similar in styling and even comes with it's similar install instructions and accessories to mount your doorbell.
Installing the doorbell was a breeze. I already had the battery version mounted prior and because this new wired version is shorter, the mounting hole do not line up with the previously drilled holes. That was a bummer but everything else was a breeze. Being able to use the Google home app to get everything connected was nice. Google Home app is actually easy enough to navigate in and it even shows you an initial video to get everything connected just right. Different from the battery model, this wired version comes with a chime adapter that needed to be connected to our mechanical door chime. It isn't needed if you are going to only use your Google speaker devices.
Video quality and aspect ratio is great. Night time viewing is decent. Microphone clarity is good enough. To take advantage, you will need the subscription that offers a 30 day recording option with Nest Aware and a Nest Aware Plus option that includes 60 days recording plus 10 days of 24/7 recording. Currently they are priced at $60/$120 a year. I recommend you at the very least get the Nest aware subscription.

I love the look and minimalist feel of this. At the same time, very powerful, and reliable. You can set up zones, and teach it to remember familiar faces, and it will announce them via chat, text or email. Mine has lasted 8 years, camera is still working fine, doorbell is actually wearing out. So I went with what I know works well.

Was easy to install but required a different transformer which can be installed without a professional if you have a basic understanding of electrical. Love the picture quality and no subscription required but you can opt to get one if you want added features.

This bell camera was easy to install and picture/video quality is good. Our doorbell now sounds weaker, which is disappointing. Also, the monthly fee is a drawback. Overall, it is as advertised.

It really works great. Good video quality.I have found that this product truly excels in its performance. The video quality is exceptional, making it a standout choice for anyone seeking top-notch visual clarity. It has consistently delivered outstanding results, which is a testament to its reliability and effectiveness. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a reliable and high-quality video solution. This product has exceeded my expectations in every aspect.
I would recommend this to a friend

Google has finally got it right. I owned the older version and it stopped working after 2 years. The new bell is easy to install and open while older version I struggled to detach. The camera has clarity. Easly syncs with other nest products.

This doorbell is relatively straightforward to install as long as you're familiar with household wiring. The tutorials are helpful and once installed, the activation process via the app is easy. The camera works well during the day and night with great light sensitivity though I wish the sensor resolution was a bit higher. The people, pet, and package detection work great. The Google Home app features and functionality fall short of the old Nest app and Google has taken years to provide enhancements.
Hey there, Technerd. We appreciate the feedback you shared about the Nest Doorbell (wired, 2nd gen). We’re glad that you find it with ease of setup and use. We hear your concerns about having a higher sensor resolution along with its app integration.
We’re aware that longtime Nest users enjoy viewing their Nest camera feeds from the Nest app. However, our priority with this launch was building a complete experience for our new cameras and doorbell in the Google Home app. We’re working on bringing full functionality to the Home app as we want to create an integrated experience with other Nest and smart home devices. We request for your patience as we’re working on a seamless solution to create a better user experience. Meanwhile, we suggest having the latest version of the Google Home app that may improve camera playback controls to make it easier to play, pause, and navigate between events from the camera history view for cameras set up in the Google Home app.
Pixel count is only one factor that impacts video quality, and it shouldn’t be the only deciding factor when choosing a camera. Nest Doorbell has HDR video quality that’s optimized for a clear view in bright sun or dark. You can also adjust your cameras’ video quality that may improve the resolution. The higher the video quality setting you choose, the sharper and more detailed your footage can be, but it also uses more of your internet bandwidth. This setting lets you pick the maximum video quality for your cameras. No matter which level you choose, your camera will automatically adjust its resolution and compression according to how much bandwidth is available. Love this doorbell. Works great! The directions should say the door chime can’t be connected to the transformer if it’s not also a door chime itself because I thought I had a bad transformer. I was messing around with it for a couple days before I decided to try it without the chime and then, what do you know, the doorbell had power and wasn’t blinking yellow. Hallelujah! Since the install it’s been working great, but often cuts out like the Nest cameras typically do. There are period gaps throughout the day, but otherwise I’m happy!

First off I like the finish on this compared to the original. I had the original nest doorbell for over 3 years and the plastic on it started peeling and the devices would shut off after the bell was rung. This one works nicely. No issues at all. Wish it had a battery in it so if power was lost for a moment it could still record. The finish on this one feels nice and may last the test of time but, we will see. Video is clear and pretty wide. I like that the view is a wider aspect in the vertical frame to see packages.
Hey there,TwotimesR. Thanks for sharing a review about the Nest Doorbell (wired, 2nd gen) and we’re glad you like its features. We hear your concern about having a backup battery, and the design. The Nest Doorbell (wired, 2nd gen) uses a paint with an enhanced UV resistance compared to the clear coating used on Nest Doorbell (wired). Also, the device won’t be able to record videos if a power outage occurs because the built-in battery can’t power the doorbell. We’ll share your feedback with the right team for future improvements. Wonderful! Got this to replace our Ring doorbell so that all of our smart home devices could be controlled in the Google home app. The picture quality is GREAT and it was so easy to set up! I recommend purchasing the best aware to maximize the usefulness of this product.

I purchased the 2nd gen Nest doorbell to replace my original Nest doorbell. The appearance and functionality have been improved as well as the video quality and installation was easy.

It's a pretty big device, let's get that out of the way up front. If you don't have a lot of space to mount it, then you might have some issues. Google made the instructions extremely simple to understand and follow. The images and audio are both clear. You need to download the Google Home app, but it's easy enough. I certainly recommend it. My only issue is that there's a street light across the street and it's right in line with the camera, so it won't switch to night vision, I have to do it manually if I remember.
Hey there, Justin. Thanks for giving us feedback about the Nest Doorbell (wired, 2nd gen). We appreciate you for pointing out your concerns about its size, and we’re sorry to hear your experience with the Night vision feature.
Bright lights can delay or prevent the camera from switching to Night Vision. We suggest installing the wedge to angle your doorbell away from bright lights, or to install the doorbell in a shady spot. You should also make sure that any nearby surfaces or objects (like a wall) are out of view, since the doorbell’s infrared light can reflect off a surface near your camera.
