Does a good job. Battery lasts several weeks easily as long as you are only checking it for people and not every movement detected.

Being able to name the faces is really nice and when they ring the doorbell it tells you who is there.

When I bought a new house, I decided to install this again. Wow the Gen 2 version was even better. Love the face recognition and animal alert. Definitely recommend

That's my reason for 4 stars. However, I do know that if the view was wider we'd lose some of that picture quality. Bitter sweet.

We understand that a wider viewing angle would be nicer, however, Nest Doorbell (Wired, 2nd Gen) comes with a 145° diagonal field of view that should provide enough viewing angles to capture those important moments. And if you would like to get a better view of the scene on your door, you may want to try using the 20° wedge that comes in the box.
