Great doorbell for your Google ecosystem!
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I already had Google's products in my house so it only made sense to get the Google Nest doorbell cam as well. The notifications I get when it sees a known person is great as it announces it on my other Google devices. The only flaw I've noticed is that the zones that you can configure to only capture motion in aren't very accurate. I've told it to only alert me when it sees motion on my porch but I'll still get them for things in my yard or even the street. However I'm sure this technology will improve.

Good Doorbell / Poor Quality Design
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Good quality image, UI app is friendly, overall, the doorbell is good. After a year of using it, the doorbell has cracked, a thin layer that the entire doorbell has is peeling off. My doorbell is exposed to the sun about all day. I’ve attached pictures of it. I wouldn’t recommend if your front house is exposed extremely yo the sun.

Awesome Upgrade
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My house has a massive screen door on it that blocks the use of the peep hole, so a doorbell like this was more for security reasons and less for smart home functionality. However, this is a great option for a smart door bell. Pros: 1. Clean audio and crisp HD video. The most important feature of a smart doorbell is the camera and audio, the wide angle of this camera helps pick up the entire entry way to my house as well as the door so you can see as people enter/exit. Great! 2. Customizability: probably a feature of all smart doorbells, but you can actually turn the chime off and just receive notifications on your phone! huge bonus when we just had a newborn that we don't want to disturb! 3. Google. i'm a huge google fan and being the largest ecosystem of products just means your future-proofing yourself as the smart home universe evolves 4. Design: obviously a subjective metric, but i love the style of this. i also paired it with an elago Wall Plate for even cleaner look 5. Easy-ish install. if you've ever replaced a light switch in your house, this is pretty much as easy as that. Figure out what fuse your bell is on, locate the transformer, and you're good to go. Google also has a great video on the YT 6. "Plug and Play" Packaging: the system comes with a drill bit, screws, and wall anchors for mounting the doorbell. Cons: 1. Sloppy-ish Install: living in arizona, our homes are textured stucco on the outside. the non-flat surface makes mounting this somewhat difficult. also, the hole pattern for the bell is only slightly larger than the diameter of the standard round doorbell that comes on every house. This meant the wall anchors did not grip well. also the bell was too narrow to cover the hole left behind the original doorbell. i opted for lag bolts and the above mentioned elango Wall Plate. If you already have the bolts, the wall plate is less than $15 and makes for a much more professional install. 2. Still too soon integration: yes, you're future-proofing yourself by going with google, but the Nest Hello is still not fully integrated with the Google Home app, which seems to be the main hub app for Google going forward. This means there's not too much integration with the rest of your smart home. However, this will probably not be in issue in 5 years. let's face it, this is a set it and forget it type of product 3. Runs a little hot: can't compare with other bells, because i did not try any, but it will be a little warm to touch. not that it's a risk to you but if you have anything you don't want heating up, keep it a little clear. Also concerned how this will fare in the AZ summer, so we'll see 4. Responsiveness of alerts: with any doorbell system there is going to be a slight delay between a live action at the front door and the system notifying you. Same goes for you speaking to the visitors if you use that feature from your phone. This can be annoying to some people but comes with the territory All in all, great device, well worth it, wouldn't replace it.

Reliable and Indispensable
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought my Nest doorbell around Black Friday while at a discount. I was at first apprehensive to do a self installation and called a few Nest recommended pro installers. However, it would have cost as much as the item to install. I followed the steps in the app and the installation was easy. The set up was a breeze and it connected quickly to my wifi. I set the video quality as automatic and it works flawlessly. You can customize the area being watched and the notifications can be tailored to your liking. I have added my whole family and it's learning to recognize the familiar faces vs strangers. From work, I was able to answer the UPS and FedEx delivery drivers. The conversation was clear on both sides and the video quality was clear despite my weak signal in my work area. Very impressed with this doorbell and it has become Indispensable to my household.

The best smart doorbell / security camera.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was skeptical about getting a smart doorbell due to the price, but since I needed a security camera and I wanted to replace my doorbell anyway, I took a hard look to the Nest Hello and after hearing from a friend with Nest camera, I decided to give it a go. I was blown away by the image quality. The HDR camera is by far of any smart doorbell or security camera I've seen. I have this doorbell facing south, thus, in this time of the year, having the sun directly on frame, not a single shadow or highlight blown or lost. It captures every single detail. Another great thing over the Ring 2 or the original Ring is that the Nest Hello records 24/7, which allows me to scrub through the day really easily. Also, it integrates seamlessly with my Google Home, Google Home Hub and Chromecast, so I can always ask google to show me the camera and the speakers will announce when someone is at the door. My favourite feature is Familiar Faces, so if one of my friends or family members is at the door (even if they don't ring the doorbell), I'll get a notification that that specific person is at the door and the Google Assistant will also say that that person is at the door. The audio is pretty good. One drawback is that you need a strong and robust WiFi connection for the streaming to work 24/7. TL;DR: You definitely cannot go wrong with the Nest Hello.

Great Doorbell Camera but needs a built-in ringer.
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The first Google Nest Doorbell Camera died after 2 weeks. We got a replacement and it works great but doesn’t have a ringer. It picks up sound from 2 blocks away as there’s nothing across from our house for 2 blocks. It starts recording our regular mail carrier before she even is in sight and has recorded punks checking our locked cars to see if they can steal something. You do need to subscribe to the recording service and download a few apps on a device like your phone or iPad, but it’s worth it for piece of mind. Night video isn’t is great but it’s better than Ring doorbell. You can use it with Google Nest Hub to speak with any one at your door once they’ve rang the the doorbell.

Good Investment
||Posted . Owned for 9 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After using for almost a year, I find this product to exceed my expectations. First, it was easy to install on a house built in 2013 with an existing doorbell (outside component) and chime (compatible transformer on the inside). I followed the video instructions provided and installed in less than 1 hour into a stucco wall (had to drill new holes with a drill and masonry drill bit) with no issues. If I recall, there are several options included in the box that allow for the Nest Hello to be installed if there does not exist a door chime already or a compatible transformer using direct power (power drill required). The outside unit comes with a wedge to angle the camera so you can get clear video. This was helpful since most regular doorbells are not angled. It was also easy to connect to my phone using the Nest App. I have not had any issues with signal transmission over the WiFi and find both the video and intercom audio, no matter where I am in the world, to be very good quality. I have used it to tell people I am not interested in their solicitation without them knowing if I am home or not to determining when packages are delivered. The surprise feature is that during holiday periods they even put out special door bell chime tones that are played when the doorbell are rung. Now with ADT and Google signing into an agreement I am curious what the future holds being an ADT customer.

Good but unsure about how it does in bad weather
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As seen in the photographs the installation location for this doorbell is exposed to outside weather (a row home with an uncovered/unprotected entrance) and I'm not sure how long this item will last as its IPX 4 weather resistance rating isn't very high. I will raise my rating to 5 stars if it survives a full winter when it will be hit with ice and snow. Since installation I am being very careful when cleaning the camera after pollen and rain. I did add an aftermarket vinyl protector and it seems to help. As far as any negative things so far: - The microphone picks up way to much wind noise. - I do wish I could angle the camera down a small amount but in all fairness no video doorbell manufacturer makes such an adapter. I know some folks have used a washer on the top screw to achieve this but as my installation is fully exposed to weather I didn't feel comfortable with this approach.

Good to invest in a Nest!
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Google - Nest Hello provides us peace of mind! We moved to a single-family home and our Great Room is located it on the second floor now. It's convenient to be able to tailor and receive face/package/noise/etc. alerts without having to go up and down the stairs. It comes with a 15 degree wedge to help us angle it towards the street. It's nice that they provide a drill bit to help with install, but the diameter was a bit too small compared to the anchors. The install took us longer than anticipated, so definitely double check before you try to shove the anchors in! Overall, instruction videos and set up process with Nest app was very clear and easy. Love to have everything connected to our Google Smart Home.

Perfect for existing Nest Cam users!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am an existing Nest Cam user and have an annual account for video storage with Google. This Doorbell cam was a no-brainer and works exactly as expected. I ordered a separate angled mount (see the black Nest Hello wall plate pictured) since my doorbell is off to the side of the door on an adjacent wall and the 30 degree angle of the mounting plate makes the field of view perfect. Installation and configuration took about an hour and I now see the Nest Video Doorbell cam in the same app with my other Nest cams for a unified view of all my cameras regardless of the Nest camera type (indoor, outdoor, doorbell, etc.). I also purchased an elago silicon cover/case that comes in a variety of colors. It makes the Next Doorbell match the color of my brown house trim and also provides some UV protection to the unit.

Nice doorbell cam!
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this nest doorbell after a recommendation from a friend. At my previous home I had a ring doorbell for about 3 years and I think this one is way better. I ended up buying some nest cameras to go along with it because I liked it so much. I like the face recognition and the quality of the video is better than ring was.

Wow, how nice is this!?!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Just installed the Nest Hello and it is super easy to install and set up. We already have the Nest Thermostat and Nest Protect interior camera with the app already installed on iphone(s) and computer(s) and as soon as the device was connected, it immediately went live. SO much better than Arlo (which this replaced) and although we've only had it a short time, it appears to be much more flexible. Just like the demo shows, you can adjust the field of view and also watch live. Camera is clear and the audible and voice works very well. The play back is a little grainy however. I would be able to ID someone who did walk up to the door. Overall and initially, it works good. I'll let you know more in a follow up review in the coming weeks.

Great camera, Easy Install
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Just go my camera install, it took me about 30 min to install very easy setup,I recommend watching the 10 minute video on youtube first on how to install the doorbell or the app will also take you through the process. So far everything is great i'm very surprise on how fast I get a notification when I push the doorbell button. The hardest decision how to make was rather to install the wedge or not I'm glad i did. So far I will give 5 stars even though this first day I have it but knowing Nest everything should be good.

Works well
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great product, no issues with hardware. The software was not so easy. Using the angle plate which still gets great video wide. It was very hard to subscribe to the surveillance plan, unreasonably so. Between Nest and Google log ins and my husband and I trying to use the right parent account…. Then trying to click on emails to find the buried link to enroll…. Once all that got figured out. ( I did give up a few times). It’s been fine. I wish we could have audio recorded for unknown load noises and not be alerts for every single thing… same for motion. I set up section blocks to notify but it seems to still alert for every car that go’s by …

Smart doorbell with great video
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Easy to install. The most difficult part was finding the breaker to turn off the power. Doesn’t quite make the doorbell chime inside like the original push button did, but the added functionality more than makes up for that. Google integration means that google speakers and smart hubs announce someone is at the door. Can talk with the visitor. Great video. Requires a nest aware subscription to get all the functions built into the unit but the value propositions are there for me. Christmas gift for everyone in the family after installation of ours.

Better Doorbell Camera
||Posted . Owned for 5 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We had another doorbell camera Pro from “R” brand. Had it for 3 years during which time it was a constant one issue after another. Then customer service told me that it was broken and I could buy a new one. No thanks! With the Nest doorbell I’ve had no issues in 6 months of use. Seems to respond faster than the “R” brand ever did. You can control more features with Nest than the leading competitor. Video is sharper and audio is more distinct. Nice to know when a package is delivered or someone is at the door. It works with my existing chime better than the old one. Connect it to your google account and you can ask you assistant to show you the front door and you get the video. Also comes with a handy angle adapter if your existing bell is off to one side. YouTube videos are helpful in setting it up.

better then ring cameras
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I like this brand more the ring because the video recording its continue and you can see everything all the time the only problem its the cloud fees you have to pay 5 for 5 days and 10 for 10 days and 30 for 30 days of video cloud with ring cameras just 10 dollars for all cameras

Great Product
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We previously purchased a different smart doorbell, but the talkback feature did not work well because the speaker was not clear. This doorbell has an excellent speaker and video quality.

Excellent security camera
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Nest Hello works great and the video is good. Night vision pretty good too. The transformer in my house is 16v 10A and it works with the Hello. Other competing doorbells would have required me to wire in another transformer. Nest Hello is a great addition especially if you have other Nest products. You can manage it all in the Nest app, or access it in the Google Home app. Streaming the doorbell video to my Chromecast TV is great. I ask Google Assistant to show my front door and the TV switches inputs and shows the live video. The 4:3 aspect ratio is great because it shows people head to toe, and also I can see my patio where packages are left.
