Pros: 1. Easy to install (don't follow the schematics in the paper instruction. Use the NEST website for the correct wiring. 2. Cool design and operation (love the turn knob) 3. App on iphone works with no issue. Like the Usage history and why energy consumption is high on that day. 4. Auto away mode works. It has a motion sensor that turns on the display when you walk by. Areas of improvement: 1. Heater/air-con only turns on 2-3 degrees above/below set points. Have to manually compensate when setting my range. 2. Paper instruction wiring is misleading especially on RC or C wires. Use the website to get your correct wiring. 3. Expensive toy

We had this installed about a week ago. I downloaded the app immediately. The thermostat works wonderfully and is pretty easy to figure out. It's still good to read the directions though to understand how it works. Being able to adjust the thermostat from bed or anywhere else is so cool. We received rebate money from our energy ($75) and our gas company ($50) which was helpful.

Excellent and well designed thermostat. Easy to install and set up. I really like to be able to adjust the temperature with out leaving the bed or the couch. I have only been using it for a couple of weeks, so, we'll see how much money it will save us.

Replaced an older thermostat with the Nest. Looks beautiful to me. Was very easy to install and set up following the instructions and using the supplied components. Even came with a nifty screw driver. I love the wifi features of this device and the ability to check status and control climate remotely. Also like the fact that I was able to easily integrate this to my home security system.

I have been very happy with the Nest Thermostat overall. It is my second purchase in the Nest family after my Nest Cam. Installation was very easy and I had no knowledge going in installing thermostats. The design is thin and modern with an intuitive UI. The only problem I have had with Nest is the Auto-Away feature has been wonky ever since I installed the Nest Thermostat as the Cam and Thermostat don't seem to talk to each other very well. For example, when I get home, my AC might start but the Cam does not turn off even though the app recognizes that I am home. Hopefully some of these bugs will get worked out.

The Nest Thermostat is an exceptional product; super easy to install, beautiful on the wall (especially relative to the white plastic stat I had previously) and above all, effective at knowing when my family is home/not home and regulating the temperature(s) accordingly. Would recommend this product to anyone.

Very easy to install and very easy to use. I haven't had it long enough to know if it will save me money, but I can tell it is "learning". The app makes it easy to use and it is great to be able to change the temperature from in bed or across the country.

Hardware Very Attractive High Tech, if not Retro pleasing appearance. Hopefully the NEST App needs to be more intuitive like the replaced multiple "3M Radio Thermostats which operated HVAC & schedules easy with no learning curve at all for years. I am Hopeful NEST Software Development will take a peek at this relevant 3M Radio Thermostat defunct software "App No Longer Supported" as my only reason i had to replace existing no longer working multiple 3M Radio Thermostats with internet Access via it’s App. Radio Thermostat App was real easy peasy intuitive for multiple 3M Thermostats, now NEST replaced still trying to figure out scheduling of Multiple NEST of different locations for online control

I upgraded my thermostat and am glad I did. It is a nice product to add to the home. Very easy to use and it has helped me save energy. Design is simple and classic. It is easy to install. It functions well with my phone and I can adjust the temperature from any where.

CONS: Installation instructions are not the most helpful. However, I received help via telephone from a pro and it was easy to install. PROS: Easy to use. Works great. Looks Great. A MUST have.

I've had a programmable thermostat for over 10 years and when I got it, the savings were obvious but the family had difficulty operating it, this new NEST thermostat solved that problem and more. It's easy to operate but the ability to manipulate it remotely is the biggest benefit. Easy to install and setup, I can't imagine a better option.

We have had this for a few years now. We like the look of the thermostat. It also integrates well with Alexa. It was very easy to install, and everyone thinks it is easy to use. We enjoy being able to set the temperature remotely. My only con, and it is a big one for me... I can't set a hold temperature. I could do this on my previous older thermostat. I am not sure why Google doesn't include this feature. It was almost a deal breaker for me.

We purchased the Nest - Learning Thermostat, on sale. I opened the box, and followed the installation instructions. Make sure you take a picture of your existing thermostat's wire connections and label each wire (using the labels included by Nest) before you disconnect anything. Once you have done this, the rest is pretty easy. Don't forget to download the Nest app to your smartphone, and set-up a Nest account. Also, apply for any rebates you may be qualified for (ex. So Cal Edison and/or So Cal Gas - up to $125!). I recommend that you also sign up for So Cal Edison's Rush Hour program (additional credits to your bill). We've had the Nest Thermostat for a week now, and our central heat and air runs in the morning (5am) for a few minutes to heat the house to 72F. The house stays above 70F the rest of the day. The Nest already learned our routine, and it "knows" when we leave the house with our smartphones and automatically sets the thermostat to Eco mode. I think this was a smart purchase for our home. We had new insulation added to the attic, walls, and under the floors in 2015 so we don't leak much warm air and the furnace doesn't run very often.

This Thermostat was the best purchase I have every made, not only does it learn what temperature you like it in your house over time, but the automatic home and away feature is a great money saver. Every month you get an email letting you know how much energy you have used and how you did against other "nesters" in your area. All and all its great tool for your home, lets you see how much energy you have used each month, learns what you like and allows you to control your thermostat from your smart phone.

Not sure that I can add much more than others have written. The thermostat works as described. Installation was very easy, took me about 15 minutes. I remember reading that many people wanted far sight to display the current temperature rather than the set temperature. I recent software update added this functionality. Additionally I have read that some people have had temperature run aways, I have not had an issue at all. I like the design and how easy it is to use. I haven't figured out how much it has saved, but the auto-away and being able to remote in and set the thermostat to away has saved me on cooling this summer on weekend when I am not home for an extended time. Also being able to turn things back on lets the house get back to a comfortable temp by the time I arrive home.

The Google Nest Learning Thermostat is an excellent designed & constructed product. It is easily installed, the available options are as advertised & love the internet connectivity Pricey but worth it.

The 3rd Generation Nest Learning Thermostat is an excellent investment in smart home technology as an energy and money saver. It is extremely easy to install using the detailed instructions included in the package or any of the dozens of Youtube videos to be found online. Once installed, it virtually programs itself to adjust the heating and cooling parameters to the activity patterns within your home space. At the same time, it provides ample opportunities to override these self-determined settings to suit the immediate or long-term situation. Many energy providers are sponsoring rebate programs that can somewhat offset the (admittedly high) initial cost of the Nest device. I have used it so far for a little more than three weeks in a fluctuating temperature spell and have found it highly correlated (through its detailed history function available in the smartphone app) with the number of degree days. More importantly, the house is always comfortable within the temperature ranges I have specified. A test of the cooling functions will have to wait several months I fear but I have no doubt it will prove equally helpful.

Easy to install. Easy to set up. Optimizes your schedule. Love the away feature: if you leave the house it automatically sets the temperature back then turns on when you head home. Best: you can monitor it from any where and make adjustments as needed so your house is at the right temperature when you get home. Had one die after 3 years (probable lightning strike) and immediately replaced it with another. Weakest part is tech support - so by the Best Buy extended warranty so you deal with Best Buy not Google (NOT a paid endorsement). There is a reason why this is a Consumer Reports Best Buy - best one on the market.

I really enjoy being able to track energy usage through the app. I also enjoy that I can remotely change the temperature before getting home from an extended absence...or to change it after I have left if I forgot to turn on an "away" setting. Looks great, it's easy to install and use.

It’s a simple easy to self install do easy to use gadget that will pay for itself in many ways - my energy company had rebate , my gas company had rebate and it really saves some gas and electricity ( it will most likely pay for itself in 3 months) for most people. It’s like a piece of art.
