I don’t love the way it integrates with Vivint, so I use the Nest app instead. My favorite feature is the Energy History, I’m currently playing a secret game in my household to reduce the number of hours the AC runs. If no one is complaining about being hot, the temp goes up a degree every day—I’m going to win the electric bill game with the Nest!

The huge selling point for the Learning thermostat is that it has a feature called 'Auto-Schedule'. This feature learns your daily temperature input settings and builds a recurring temp schedule off of that. A fundamental problem I have with this functionality is that your needs and outside temps change on a daily basis, while your Learning schedule remains static. I still find myself manually changing the thermostat temp everyday because of this. With that, in my opinion, I deem the price increase of $120 from its entry level model not worth it unless you want the premium finish and upgraded screen.

Posted .Hi there, MattyMcFry. Thanks for the feedback you shared about the Nest Learning Thermostat. It’s unfortunate to hear that your experience with the Auto-Schedule feature is less than ideal. You have an option to use it as a traditional programmable thermostat, and you can manually set the temperature and create your schedules for the thermostat to follow. You can turn off the Auto Schedule feature, disable the Home/Assist, and clear the existing schedules by selecting Settings > Reset > Schedule > Reset again. Love My Nest Thermostat!

What I love is the app feature. I have set it to a "Locked" position so I can control it from anywhere and only I can control it. With the Nest, I have full control. It also lets me know how long the AC/Heat has been running and can learn your at home patterns.

They were great to work with. The first thermostat took about a hour only because we couldn't tell on the old unit the blue wire was going into O/B not W1. This caused only the heat to work. The wire should have gone into W1 not C. With the help of customer service that was figured out. The second one was installed in five minutes.
